Awaken, Empress of the Night is a story-driven grand strategy game with incremental mechanics. 

Lower Lessia

A land between darkness and light.

The world ended 30 years ago. And it left Lower Lessia in a brutal state of fear and confusion.

The continent lacks any formal organization. Instead, it is filled with individual factions: Humans banding together; Dark forces; Primordial beings; Retched souls dislodged by the war.

What is your plan? Will you try to remove them forcefully? Will you coerce them to join you? Or will you tactfully infiltrate their leadership and turn them into your puppets?

Followers

Your devoted hands.

As you play, powerful followers might join your side. These are people with their own story, ambitions and hidden interests. It will be your duty to send them on Mandated Expeditions so they can carry out dangerous but powerful tasks. But how you use them will affect how much they like you and how much they like each other. Followers sent on expeditions together might form powerful bonds and they might even fall in love.

Followers have traits such as "Soldier", "Poet" and "Drunk". These traits dictate how will they approach certain problems during missions. Send a Soldier do deal with a band of brigands and he will most likely try to fight them. So you should, at least, chose a powerful Soldier. But if you do not want to start a fight, you might chose to send a Noble. And his or her approach might be to recruit the brigands into your service. So you should chose a Noble with a high Charisma. 

The Empress of the Eternal Night

Regain your lost power!

You play as the Empress of the Eternal Night, a reborn lesser goddess who wants to rebuild her church. But she lacks her original powers. So, throughout the game, you will use various methods of subterfuge, manipulation and political intrigue to extend your reach.

But you will not be doing all the work yourself. Your faithful devotes will be more than happy to spread your influence through the lands. And as your influence grows, more devotees will flock to your side.

Relics

The weapons to tip the scales.

Powerful artifacts are doted throughout the land. Some of them can be controlled and their powers put to use to aid your cause. Collect them, and store them in your Sealed Vault. And when you need a bit of aid, you will have an ace up your sleeve. 

Relics are split into 3 containment types:

• Class C - Can be used without any special procedures.

• Class B - Have effects that can be dangerous to the user.

• Class A - Are dangerous to merely be around and require utmost care and many safety precautions to use.

• Class S - Are actively trying to escape captivity. Only teams of professionals can handle them. 

The Church of the Light

The ones who shall save every mortal soul.

There will be one constant threat to your rule. One that will be a painful thorn in your side from the begging. The Church of Light aims to expand their power into Lower Lessia. And to win over the people of this forsaken continent, they swore to cleanse it of all that is impure in their eyes. And that includes you. But that does not mean they cannot be "reasoned" with. Everyone has a price.

The Church of the Light spreads using two institutions. And you must be especially weary of the latter:

• The Inquisition - Investigators and spies. They deal with the realm of the mortals.

• The Seeker Guild - Expert monster hunters. Unstoppable slayers of the undead and the immortal.
