What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I want to release MISSING PLAY in Early Access because I don’t want to develop the entire game behind closed doors only to find out later that something doesn’t work the way it should.

The game is still in development, and there are many things left to improve, add, and change. I’d rather let players try the game at a relatively early stage, give me their feedback, and help me find bugs or problems that I might not notice on my own.

I also want to use Early Access to experiment with new mechanics, maps, monsters, and other content, and see what works best in the game.

MISSING PLAY is an independently developed project (with a small team), so player feedback can be very important in deciding where to take the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I don’t have an exact date for when MISSING PLAY will leave Early Access.

My intention is to keep the game in Early Access for as long as necessary to reach a level of content and quality that I’m genuinely satisfied with.

I’d rather not set a fixed date and end up rushing development just to meet it.

But since I'm being forced to, early access will last for about 1 or 2 years.

During this time, I want to continue working on new content, improving the current systems, fixing bugs, and seeing how the game evolves together with the community.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version represents a work-in-progress version of MISSING PLAY.

As the game develops, we plan to expand different parts of the game, including new maps, monsters, characters, objectives, mechanics, and other ways to play.

We also want to continue improving things such as the balance between survivors and monsters, performance, stability, the user interface, and the overall match experience.

Some ideas may change or even be removed during development depending on how they work when players get to try them.

The full version should represent a much more polished and complete version of the idea we currently have for MISSING PLAY, but development will continue to depend on what we learn throughout Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“MISSING PLAY already has a playable foundation, and the main core of the game is currently working.

At the moment, players can play as a survivor and face the monster, complete objectives, explore the maps, and experience the main chase and survival systems.

However, the game is still far from finished.

There are systems still in development, content that hasn’t been implemented yet, and quite a few things that need improvements, balancing, and optimization.

Bugs may also appear during matches, especially as new features are introduced.

Early Access exists specifically so we can continue working on all of this while the game grows.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No.

MISSING PLAY will be free to play, and we do not plan to change the price when it leaves Early Access.

The idea is for the game to remain accessible so that anyone can download it and play with their friends.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is going to be quite important throughout the development of MISSING PLAY.

I want to listen to players’ opinions, read suggestions, look into the problems they find, and use that feedback to decide which areas need the most attention.

I also want to test new ideas with the community before deciding whether they should permanently remain in the game.

Part of the development process will be quite experimental, so some things may change depending on how players react and how they actually work during matches.

The goal is for MISSING PLAY to be more than just a game that I develop and release. I want it to be a project that can grow together with the people who play it.”

About This Game

MISSING PLAY is an asymmetric multiplayer horror game mainly inspired by games like Project: Playtime and Dead by Daylight, but with its own identity, maps, monsters, and mechanics.

The idea is pretty simple:

A group tries to survive. One tries to stop them.

Survivors will have to explore the map, complete different objectives, find items, and help each other escape.

Meanwhile, the player controlling the monster will have their own abilities and ways of finding, chasing, and eliminating the survivors.

Play as a survivor

Work with the rest of your team to complete the objectives and escape.

You’ll be able to explore the maps, search for items, help other players, and decide when it’s worth taking a risk to save a teammate… and when it’s better to run.

Every match can turn out completely differently depending on how the team plays and who is controlling the monster.

Play as the monster

You only have one goal: kill every player.

Use your abilities to locate survivors, cut off their escape, chase them down, and prevent them from completing their objectives.

Each monster is designed to play differently, so learning their abilities and knowing when to use them will be an important part of the game.

A game that keeps growing

MISSING PLAY is in Early Access, so there is still a lot of work to do.

During development, I want to keep adding new content, improving the current systems, fixing problems, listening to the community, and trying out new ideas.

I don’t want to promise that absolutely everything I have planned will make it into the game, because the development of a project like this can change quite a lot along the way.

I’d rather build it little by little and do it together with the people who want to play it.

And yes, it’s free

MISSING PLAY will be free to play.

I don’t want the price of the game to be a barrier for people who want to play with their friends, try it out, and become part of the community.

The goal is to make a game that can keep growing over time and where every match feels more fun and different from the last.

We’re still building MISSING PLAY.

But don’t worry, it’ll be playable soon.
