What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Gloombo is designed to live alongside you on your desktop, which makes real player habits especially important to us.

The core experience is already in place: players can focus, craft, decorate their island, fulfil orders, collect blueprints, tend to the island, and build a bond with their companion. Early Access gives us the opportunity to see how these systems feel across different play styles, routines, and PCs.

In particular, we want to use player feedback to improve progression and balance, identify usability issues, and understand which kinds of interactions and content players would most like us to expand.

As a two-person team, this also helps us focus our development time on the parts of Gloombo that matter most to the people actually playing it.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Gloombo to remain in Early Access for approximately 3–6 months.

This is an estimate rather than a fixed release date. The exact timing will depend on player feedback, the areas that need the most attention during Early Access, and what we can realistically deliver as a two-person team.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The core idea of Gloombo will remain the same throughout Early Access. Rather than changing the game into something different, we plan to expand and refine what is already there.

During Early Access, we plan to work on areas such as additional content for the island and distant lands, more decorating possibilities, more companion interactions and customization, and improvements to progression, balance, art, animation, sound, and localization.

We are also exploring other ways to expand the experience, but we don't want to promise features before we know they are right for the game. Player feedback during Early Access will help us decide where additional development will have the most impact.

Our goal for 1.0 is a more polished, varied, and complete version of the same cozy desktop companion experience at the heart of Gloombo.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version already includes Gloombo’s core gameplay and progression systems.

You can keep Gloombo’s floating island on your desktop, use Focus sessions while Gloombo crafts, tend to the island, collect and place decorations, complete orders, grow plants, unlock blueprints, and build a bond with your companion cat.

The game currently includes around 70 blueprints, two distant lands with orders and friendship progression, gardening, island decoration, a collection book, a Sailing Vendor, and a guided first-time experience.

During Early Access, we’ll continue improving balance, progression, visuals, audio, localization, and overall polish.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We haven't made a final decision about the price of the full 1.0 release yet.
The Early Access price will reflect the game in its current state. If we decide to change the price as the game grows or approaches 1.0, we will communicate that in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Player feedback is one of the main reasons we're using Early Access.
Feedback can be shared directly through Steam Discussions, including through a feedback option available inside the game. We'll use bug reports, suggestions, and discussions there alongside our own development plans when prioritizing updates.
We're particularly interested in feedback about long-term progression, balance, usability, desktop-companion behaviour, decorating, interactions, and the kinds of content players would like to see expanded.
We'll also share development updates as the game evolves and try to be transparent about what we're working on, what we're considering, and what is realistic for our two-person team.”

About This Game

Gloombo lives on your desktop

A cozy little world that fits around whatever else you are doing.

Move and resize Gloombo's floating island, keep her nearby while you work, or come back later when you have a few minutes. Sometimes you will sit down to decorate or clean things up. Sometimes Gloombo will just be there while you get on with your day.

You work. Gloombo works too.

Your real-life focus becomes progress in Gloombo's world.

Pick something for her to make and start a Focus session. While you work on your own task, Gloombo gets to work on hers.

Craft decorations, work on bigger projects over several sessions, or prepare things for orders. Even a short Focus session moves something forward.

Turn a messy island into her home

Clear Drift, collect Essence, discover new blueprints, and fill the island with things you and Gloombo have made.

  • Decorate and rearrange the island

  • Discover new blueprints

  • Fulfill orders

  • Meet the travelling Vendor

  • Fill your collection

  • Feed, pet, and hang out with the cat

Place things wherever you like, rearrange them whenever you want, and make the island feel like home.

Nothing is in a hurry

No deadlines. No disappearing friendships. No punishment for having other things to do. Orders do not have deadlines, friendships do not disappear, and your bond with the cat does not decay because you were away.

Open Gloombo for a few minutes, keep her next to your work for hours, or spend some time decorating when you feel like it. Come back when you want.
