About This Game

FIRE UP THE MOWER, DROP THE DECK, AND GET TO WORK.

18 Summers is a cozy first-person lawn care game about one suburban backyard and the simple, unhurried satisfaction of taking care of it properly. Mow it. Trim it. Pull the weeds out by the root. Soak the dead patches until they come back green. Then stand at the edge of a yard you finished, and notice it looks a little different than it did last time you were out here.

THE PERFECT CUT

The mower has real weight. It pulls when you push it, drifts when you turn too fast, and thrums up through your hands the whole time. Behind you, a clean cut line follows exactly where you've been, clippings arcing off the deck in the sun.

No blade of grass gets cut twice. Watch the ragged green give way to a flawless, even finish, patch by patch, until there's nothing left to do.

FOUR TOOLS, ONE YARD

Mower - heavy, satisfying, and the fastest way to clear open ground.

Weedwacker - for the fence lines, the edges, and every corner the deck can't reach.

Your own two hands - grab a weed, pull, and feel the root give. Pulled weeds stay gone for good.

Garden hose - three spray modes, from a wide soaking shower to a focused jet, for coaxing brown dead spots back to life.

Swap between them on the fly with the tool wheel. Clear the toys and clutter off the lawn before you cut, or find out exactly what the blades do to a forgotten dinosaur.

MOW AND CHILL

No timer. No score. No money, no shop, no upgrade tree, and nothing to fail. The yard isn't going anywhere and neither are you.

Put it on, take your time, and listen to it: the engine, the sprinkler, the hose, the kids down the street, a corgi who will not stop. Every summer has its own soundtrack. Stop whenever you want and the lawn stays exactly as green as you left it.

SOMETHING IN THE GRASS

The lawn is hiding things. Every patch you finish uncovers a keepsake buried in the overgrowth a binky, a bottle, a teddy bear, a toy truck, one lost sock. Pick it up, turn it over in your hands, and you'll remember exactly when it ended up out here.

Every one you find gets pressed into your scrapbook. Clear a summer's worth and the season turns.

THE SAME YARD, YEARS APART

You'll mow this lawn across seven summers, spread over eighteen years, and three years pass between each visit. The grass is the same. Nothing else is.

A playmat and a water table become a sandbox. The sandbox becomes a tire swing. The tire swing becomes a fire pit and a set of golf clubs left out on the lawn. Flowerbeds fill in, hedges thicken, the koi pond settles, and the kid who was babbling on the porch the first summer is the one in the driveway by the last.

They're all out there living their summer while you work through yours. Mom reminds you to mind the flowers. The neighbor tells you it's lookin' good. Nobody waits for a cutscene.
