What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We’re using Early Access because Go Jace FPS already has the core game loop working, but it is still a growing arena shooter rather than a finished full release. The current build has playable solo, co-op, and LAN multiplayer foundations, multiple maps, bots, pickups, weapons, lobby flow, match rules, spectator systems, and progression features, but we still want time to expand content, improve balance, polish presentation, and test how the systems hold up with real players.
Early Access gives us room to improve the game with player feedback while keeping the focus on what matters most: fast arena combat, readable maps, reliable multiplayer flow, and strong moment-to-moment feel.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Go Jace FPS to remain in Early Access for at least around 12 months, though the exact timeline may change depending on development progress and player feedback.
We want enough time to expand the game properly instead of rushing it out of Early Access before the content, balance, and technical state are where they should be.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version to offer a broader and more polished arena shooter experience than the initial Early Access release.
This includes plans for:
More maps and stronger visual variety
More weapons, pickups, and powerups
Expanded enemy and co-op content
More match options, mutators, and bot improvements
Better progression, achievements, and profile systems
More polish across visuals, audio, UI, and overall game feel
Continued multiplayer and performance improvements
The goal is for the full version to feel larger, tighter, and more complete while staying focused on retro 2.5D arena FPS combat.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“he Early Access version is already playable and includes the core combat and match flow.
The current build includes:
Fast retro-inspired arena FPS gameplay
Solo play, co-op, and LAN multiplayer support
Multiple playable maps
Free For All, Team Deathmatch, Hardcore variants, and Co-op
Bots with difficulty options and multiple AI styles
A current weapon set including shotgun, Sub MG, and fists
Pickups and powerups including health, armor, ammo, weapon pickups, Quad Power, and The Ring
Lobby setup, map voting, spectator systems, chat, kill feed, and match settings
Local profile progression, lifetime stats, and achievements
Keyboard/mouse and controller support
Graphics settings including DLSS and FSR support on compatible hardware
As with any Early Access game, players should expect ongoing balancing, iteration, content additions, and general polish over time.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We plan to keep the Early Access price lower than the final release price.

As Go Jace FPS receives more maps, weapons, modes, polish, and overall content, we currently expect the price to increase for the full release. We want the Early Access price to reflect the current development state while giving early players a lower entry price for supporting the game while it grows.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to involve the community through the Steam Community forums, Steam reviews, and player feedback during Early Access.

We are especially interested in feedback on combat feel, weapon balance, bot behavior, map flow, pickup placement, match settings, performance, controller support, and LAN multiplayer usability. Go Jace FPS depends heavily on timing, routing, and match pacing, so real player feedback is useful for finding problems that are hard to judge from internal testing alone.

During Early Access, we plan to use recurring community feedback to guide balance changes, quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, content priorities, and polish. Players should use the Steam forums as the main place to report issues, suggest improvements, and discuss the game.”

About This Game

Go Jace FPS is a retro 2.5D arena boomer shooter built around fast movement, readable pickups, compact maps, and brutal medieval combat. It mixes old-school FPS pacing with modern Unreal Engine systems, giving players quick solo runs, co-op fights, bot matches, and LAN multiplayer battles. The game is focused on arena combat: learn the map, control pickups, keep moving, and take fights before your opponents do. Health, armor, ammo, weapons, and powerups are placed around the level, so survival depends on aim, routing, timing, and knowing when to push or retreat.

Game Modes

The current version includes solo play, co-op, Horde Mode, and LAN multiplayer using listen-server hosting. Players can set up matches through the in-game lobby, choose maps, configure teams, add bots, vote on maps, and adjust match rules.

Current match types include Free For All, Team Deathmatch, Hardcore Free For All, Hardcore Team Deathmatch, Co-op, and Horde Mode. Hardcore variants are more punishing and can include friendly fire settings for harsher matches, while Horde Mode focuses on wave survival, upgrades, and special powers.

Horde Mode

Horde Mode is a wave-based survival mode where players fight escalating groups of enemies while building their character between waves. The goal is to survive as long as possible, manage resources under pressure, and turn each run into a stronger build through upgrades and special powers.

Between waves, players can improve outfit items and shape their loadout for the next fight. Outfit item upgrading gives long-term structure to a run, letting players strengthen their character instead of relying only on weapons picked up in the arena.

Special Powers add another layer to survival. Players can earn and use powerful abilities that change how they handle crowds, recover from dangerous situations, or push through harder waves. Combined with weapon pickups, ammo, health, armor, and powerups, Horde Mode gives Go Jace FPS a survival-focused mode alongside its arena deathmatch and co-op modes.

Weapons, Pickups, and Powerups

The current weapon set includes a shotgun, Sub MG, and fists. Combat is built around short, aggressive fights where positioning and item control matter. Current pickups and powerups include health, armor, shells, 9mm ammo, Sub MG pickup, Quad Power, and The Ring. Item respawn speed can be adjusted by the host, and matches can be configured with or without powerups depending on the kind of fight players want.

Bots and Match Setup

Go Jace FPS includes CPU opponents that can be used for offline practice, solo matches, or filling multiplayer lobbies. Bots support multiple difficulty levels, including Training, Easy, Normal, and Hard, and include Classic and Modern AI style options. The lobby system supports map selection, ready checks, team setup, bot count, match duration, score limit, item respawn speed, and mutators. Hosts can tune the match before launch instead of being locked into one fixed rule set.

Maps and Arenas

The game includes multiple medieval and arena-style maps, ranging from compact dungeon spaces and castle halls to tight shipment-style combat layouts. Current enabled maps include arenas such as Krvava Rotunda, Grajska Dvorana, Dungeon Arena, Veliki Trg, Shipment Simple, Shipment 1519, Fire Pit, and Arena 3-Lane. Maps are designed around quick encounters, pickup routes, and clear combat spaces rather than long downtime.

Progression and Player Features

The game includes a local player profile with lifetime stats, level/experience tracking, match results, kill rewards, and achievements. Players can track kills, deaths, assists, wins, losses, multikills, kill streaks, and other combat milestones. Matches also include chat, kill feed, death recap, scoreboard/leaderboard views, spectator mode, and post-match flow.

Controls and Settings

Go Jace FPS supports keyboard/mouse and Xbox controller input. The game includes settings for sensitivity, controller aim assist, field of view, HUD options, gore level, audio, graphics quality, frame rate cap, resolution, and performance options. On compatible Windows hardware, the game can expose modern upscaling options such as DLSS and FSR, including frame generation support where available.
