Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I currently expect Specters of the Void Sea to remain in Early Access for approximately 12–18 months. Development priorities will continue to be guided by community feedback while expanding the world, refining existing systems, and polishing the overall experience.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access release represents the foundation of the adventure. Throughout development I plan to continue expanding the world with additional regions of the Void Sea, new floating islands, enemy factions, creatures, ships, world events, progression systems, equipment, exploration content, full story, and cooperative gameplay improvements. Existing mechanics will also continue receiving polish, balancing, optimization, and quality-of-life improvements based on community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“All features and mechanics listed in the "About This Game" section are already fully implemented in the current Early Access build. The core gameplay loop is highly playable and robust. Currently, players can:

Form a multicrew team and host/join multiplayer lobbies.

Choose from 4 distinct, fully functional classes (Melee, Wizard, Navigator, Munitions).

Sail a physics-based ship through procedural oceans and explore dangerous and beautiful procedural islands featuring storms, diverse terrain features, and dangerous storms at sea.

Engage in fully physical VR combat utilizing flintlocks, cutlasses, muskets, blunderbusses, battleaxes, parrying, and gesture-based magic casting.

Participate in PvPvE naval battles, including manual cannon loading, dynamic hull repairs, and boarding combat.

Fight dynamic diverse AI enemies featuring ragdoll physics as well as other players.

Dive beneath the Void Sea using movement-based swimming mechanics.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently plan to offer the game at a lower price during Early Access. As additional content, systems, and overall scope are added throughout development, we may gradually increase the price to better reflect the value of the completed experience.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback has always been one of the biggest parts of this project. I actively read Steam Discussions, Discord conversations, gameplay videos, bug reports, feature suggestions, and player feedback to help decide what should come next. Some of the best ideas come directly from players, and I want the community to help shape the future of the Void Sea throughout development.”

About This Game

THE WORLD IS DYING.

Beyond the horizon lies the last frontier. Gather your crew, raise your sails, and venture into the Void Sea—the impossible ocean between realities where forgotten civilizations, ancient entities, and unimaginable treasures await. Every voyage may be your last, but it may also be the one that saves the world.

The Void Sea is an endless ocean that exists between worlds—a place where reality itself begins to break apart. Fragments of long-lost civilizations drift through its waters, impossible islands appear where no maps can explain them, and colossal entities older than history hunt anything reckless enough to cross into their domain.

The sea is alive. And it knows you're coming.

THE MEGALITHIC PROPHECY

Following a catastrophic volcanic explosion in the far waters, scout vessels of the Flantivian Republic of the Sea Peoples discovered it: a highly functioning, sentient megalithic entity. Prophesied for hundreds of thousands of years, the emergence of this ancient geometric artifact is an event that will ultimately decide if humanity will be able to expands past the bounds of the third realm, or is forced down to it for eternity.

The megalith's emergence has fractured the world. Many seek its power for personal gain and dominion, while others wish to harness it to free their families from the oppressive grip of the Dawning Spirit Empire of the Hailing Sun, a ruthless regime that has systematically birthed a new age of unethical trade and controversial wars across the Void Seas for the past century. Some have become entranced with the knowledge and powerful energy of the entity that they thirst for it so much they would even betray their closest comrades at a chance for the glory.

Some fight to harness it. Some fight to destroy it. But everyone wants their hand at the megalith, and the unimaginable powers locked within its knowledge.

ARCANE GESTURE SPELLCASTING

Channel the chaotic energies of the Void Sea through intuitive physical gestures. As the Wizard class, cast devastating elemental fire, earth, water or wind magic to manipulate enemies, alter movement physics, and control the battlefield from the deck of your ship.

BRUTAL PvPvE COMBAT & DISMEMBERMENT

Every weapon is fully physical. Parry incoming attacks with your sword, fire flintlock muskets while swinging and grappling on ropes towards your enemies. Experience complete dismemberment and ragdoll physics as you and your new companions get ready to embark on your journey to reach the Entity before the others.

TACTICAL SAILING & VESSEL MANAGEMENT

Coordinate with your crew to physically steer the wheel through dynamic, color-coded procedural storms. Manually pull ropes to trim sails, operate the physical multipurpose anchor winch to execute sharp turns, and slice down sails with your sword to rip them during boarding actions.

DYNAMIC REPAIRS & AMMUNITION

The Void Sea is unforgiving. Under heavy fire, you must physically manage black powder munitions to load cannons. When your ship takes damage, scramble below deck to physically patch dynamic hull leaks with wood planks and a hammer before the vessel sinks beneath the waves.

VOID DIVING & ENERGY HARVESTING

Utilize advanced stroke-based swimming mechanics to dive beneath the surface of the Void. Explore sunken ruins and utilize movement-based magic system energy harvesting to gain mana from the powerful ancient trees found in the anomalous zone, a vital resource for your crew's survival and progression.

A TRUE MULTICREW BOND

Every soul aboard your ship has a purpose. Victory belongs to the crew that adapts the fastest.

  • Warrior: Wield BattleAxes, lead the boarding charge, and wreck havoc on enemies in close range and with hand to hand combat!

  • Wizard: Bend reality with gesture-based gravity and fire magic, Propel ships with generated wind in the sails, light enemies on fire, and move the earth with your power!

  • Navigator: Utilize your spyglass and compass to read celestial patterns in the stars to identify journey route and navigate towards the center of the void seas!

  • Munitions Expert: Use latest technology optics to calculate cannon trajectories for maximum accuracy and damage!
