What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Z.O.L. does not release unfinished assets.

This project enters Early Access because its systems are alive — and evolving. The foundation is operational: exploration, scrap production, quota pressure, resurrection cycles, and armed survival. But the structure is still expanding.

We are using Early Access to stress-test mechanics, expand systems, and observe how players survive under economic extinction pressure. Your decisions, failures, and feedback will directly influence how the contract evolves.

The facility grows.
Sectors unlock.
Threats are released.
The system watches.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Backrooms Manager - Together to remain in Early Access for approximately 12 to 18 months. This estimate may change depending on development progress, player feedback, and the amount of content we decide to add before the full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The current build establishes the survival-production loop:
Explore. Collect. Convert. Sell. Deliver. Arm yourself. Survive the balance check.

The full version is planned to significantly expand this structure.

Planned expansions include:

A larger variety of scrapable materials and item types
New mechanics that deepen the economic and production systems
More advanced weapons and equipment upgrades
More dangerous creatures with varied behavioral patterns
New sectors to research and explore
Additional systemic layers affecting risk, economy, and survival
Refined balancing based on live player data
Early Access focuses on surviving the 49-day contract.
The full version is intended to be broader in scope, harsher in difficulty, and more mechanically layered.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The system is operational.

Players can:

Explore procedurally generated depot corridors
Collect items and convert them into scrap
Sell scrap to meet quota requirements
Deliver shipments for additional income
Use weapons to defend against dangerous entities
Upgrade equipment and abilities
Survive under the 49-day contract and recurring balance inspections
The full survival loop is playable from beginning to potential erasure.

Current development focuses on:

Expanding scrapable item variety
Building new mechanics
Introducing more dangerous creature types
Unlocking new sectors
Expanding economic and survival systems”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually increase the price as major new content, systems, sectors, creatures, and mechanics are added during Early Access. The final price may be higher than the Early Access launch price to reflect the expanded scope of the game. Any price changes will be communicated clearly before they happen.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to involve the community through the Steam Community Hub, Steam forums, announcements, and player feedback discussions. We will use player reports, suggestions, balance feedback, and bug reports to help prioritize updates during Early Access. Players are encouraged to share their feedback directly through the Steam forums and community discussions.”

About This Game

It started as a delivery. It became a contract.

You were an ordinary courier crew working for Z.O.L. A late-night delivery appeared on the terminal: an abandoned distribution depot, high payout, short route, hazardous but manageable. You accepted the job. The moment you stepped inside, the exit vanished behind you.

Now you're trapped in the Backrooms—an endless maze of yellow corridors, buzzing fluorescent lights, and service doors leading nowhere. Z.O.L. offers only one way out: complete a 49-day contract, clear your debt, and earn your freedom.

Everything has a price. Ammunition, equipment, failed deliveries, damaged cargo, and every death are deducted from the team's balance. If you die, you don't come back. Your debt does.

The 49-Day Exit Contract

Every three days, Z.O.L. audits the team account. Fall into debt, and your exit rights are permanently revoked. The contract ends. You stay behind.

Survival isn't just about staying alive. Every decision affects the team's balance, and one mistake can cost far more than a single life.

Gameplay

  • Explore the Backrooms: Search procedurally generated corridors, storage rooms, and maintenance areas for valuable loot.
  • Recycle & Sell: Convert recovered items into scrap and sell them through the central computer to increase your balance.
  • Complete Deliveries: Transport cargo to delivery points before time runs out to earn money.
  • Protect the Budget: Every bullet fired, every failed objective, and every death costs the team.
  • Upgrade Your Equipment: Unlock new tools, abilities, and gear to survive increasingly dangerous shifts.
  • Cooperate or Fail: Split up to work efficiently—but getting isolated can quickly become fatal.

Features

  • 1–6 Player Online Co-op — Coordinate deliveries and survive together.
  • Procedurally Generated Layouts — Every expedition presents a new challenge.
  • Persistent Team Economy — Every action directly affects the shared account.
  • Atmospheric Survival Horror — Explore unsettling liminal spaces filled with constant tension.

You Don't Respawn. Your Debt Does.

Backrooms: Managers is a co-op survival logistics game for up to six players. Scavenge, recycle, deliver, protect your balance, and survive long enough to complete Z.O.L.'s contract.

You have 49 days. Keep the account positive. Keep your crew alive. Earn your exit.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

This game contains mature content including frequent depictions of violence, gunfire, and combat against hostile creatures in a horror setting. Players will encounter dead bodies wearing yellow hazmat suits throughout the environment, and may be attacked by grotesque, elongated humanoid entities inspired by the Backrooms mythos. The game relies on psychological tension, jump scares, and creature encounters rather than graphic gore. There is no blood, no realistic weapon models, no sexual content, no drug or alcohol use, and no depictions of sexual assault, self-harm, or hate speech.
