Coming Soon To Early Access

The developers of this game intend to release as a work in progress, developing with the feedback of players.

Note: Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development. Learn more

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“FLOWORKS is the kind of factory game that gets better with player feedback. We want to build it together with the community — seeing how players actually wire their factories, where they hit walls, and which systems they want expanded helps us shape the production tree, balance, and quality-of-life before locking things down. Early Access lets us ship a game that is already fun and full of content today, while growing it alongside the people who play it most.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are planning to be in Early Access for roughly 6 to 12 months. We would rather get the content depth and balance right with community feedback than rush a fixed date, so this estimate may extend as the game grows.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full version, we plan to expand the game in both depth and breadth. We plan to:
- Introduce fluids and pipes, and rebuild power around a steam chain (water → boiler → steam → turbine → electricity).
- Deepen the production tree with more recipes, intermediates, and machine types.
- Expand the robotics endgame with additional robot and drone types.
- Grow the economy layer with more regions and deeper logistics.
- Refine the long-game progression curve and overall balance.
These are our current plans and may change as development and community feedback evolve.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is already a complete, playable factory builder — not a small vertical slice. Right now you can:
- Design factories as a living node graph and watch materials flow and transform at each machine.
- Progress through a guided milestone campaign from your first gears up to a robotics industry (steel → electronics → chemicals → aluminium → engines → robots & drones).
- Manage power × distance, fuel chains (coal, oil, and a full nuclear fuel cycle with reprocessing), bottlenecks, and storage.
- Sell products on an economy map, open trade routes, grow town populations, and choose between importing and producing in-house.
- Play in Easy (one large board) or Normal (multi-board logistics), earn achievements, and switch between English and Japanese.
The game runs fully offline and keeps progressing while idle. We are actively adding content, balancing, and polishing.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We plan to raise the price for the full (1.0) release as the game grows with more content. The price will stay at its current Early Access level until then, so Early Access is the most affordable time to join.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We read community feedback closely and use it to prioritize what we build next. Players can share suggestions, balance feedback, and bug reports through the Steam Community Hub and discussions. Telling us about confusing systems, difficulty spikes, and the features you most want expanded directly shapes our roadmap — your factory layouts and the problems you run into are exactly the kind of input that makes the game better.”

About This Game

Wire your factory. Watch it flow.

FLOWORKS is an automation × idle factory builder where you design your factory as a living node graph. Materials flow along the wires you draw and change shape at every machine — mine, smelt, build, ship — all the way up to a robotics empire.

The "aha" is the game

Place a machine, draw a wire, and raw materials start flowing and transforming on their own. When a line jams, the bottleneck literally glows — and that little "ah, THAT's the problem," followed by the fix, is the loop you'll keep chasing. Every factory is a puzzle you wrote yourself: untangle it, parallelize it, make it hum.

Play at your own pace

  • Relax and idle — lay down a line, close the game, come back to progress. No timers, no fail screens; running low on power just slows you down, it never punishes you.
  • Or optimize obsessively — shave power and wire distance, balance throughput, and push the deep production tree to its endgame. The ceiling is high.
  • Five minutes or five hours — tinker briefly, or disappear into "just one more line."

Is it for you?

If you love the build-a-machine-that-builds-itself feeling of factory and automation games, the steady number-go-up of idle/incremental, or simply the quiet satisfaction of turning a tangled system into something elegant — FLOWORKS is made for you. No reflexes required. Just you, a blank canvas, and materials waiting to flow.

Features

  • 🏭 Lines you wire yourself — Mine → Smelt → Build → Ship. Connect nodes and watch materials flow, changing from raw → intermediate → final at each machine.
  • 🔎 Bottlenecks at a glance — jammed nodes glow and buffers back up. Diagnose, parallelize, and optimize — a living engineering puzzle.
  • ⚡ Power × distance — longer wires draw more power, so compact, clever layouts win.
  • 🗺 Economy map — sell products to towns for ¥, open trade routes to neighbors, and watch populations grow and demand more.
  • 📈 A deep production tree — steel → electronics → chemicals → aluminium → engines → robots & drones (agri, care, combat, construction, logistics, space, medical).
  • ☢ Nuclear & beyond — a full uranium fuel cycle with reprocessing (MOX) and breeder reactors for near-endless power.
  • 🤖 Import vs. in-house — buy intermediates to spin up fast, then switch to in-house production to raise your margins.
  • 🧩 Easy or Normal — play on one enormous board (Easy) or master multi-board logistics (Normal).
  • 💤 Grows while idle — progresses on your device even when closed. No server, fully offline.
  • 🎨 Zero assets — no image or audio files; every visual (SVG/CSS) and sound (Web Audio) is generated in code.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

FLOWORKS was developed with the help of AI-based coding assistants, which we used to write parts of the game's source code. Everything you see and hear in the game is then generated procedurally by that code — all graphics are drawn in code (SVG/CSS) and all sound is synthesized in code (Web Audio).
The game contains no AI-generated image or audio assets, and no generative AI runs while you play.

System Requirements

    Minimum:
    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
    • Processor: Dual-core 2.0 GHz (Intel Core i3 or equivalent)
    • Memory: 4 GB RAM
    • Graphics: Integrated graphics with hardware acceleration
    • Storage: 300 MB available space
    Recommended:
    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows 11 (64-bit)
    • Processor: Quad-core 2.5 GHz (Intel Core i5 or equivalent)
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: Any GPU with hardware acceleration
    • Storage: 500 MB available space
    • Additional Notes: Landscape orientation. Large factories benefit from a faster CPU.
