Chaotic multiplayer for up to 8 friends, trapped in a TV show. Think fast, dodge traps and turn the tables. A question hits the screen, the clock runs, and every wrong answer sets off the room: exploding platforms, ankle bombs, axe-wielding gnomes, revolvers on the table and much more.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The heart of The Trivia Show is what happens in a group: eight friends shouting over each other, the answer nobody saw coming, the knockout that makes the whole lobby laugh. That is why we are opening it early and growing it together with the people who play: which rooms land, which traps and questions feel unfair, which moments end up in your clips. Rooms and questions will grow around what you tell us.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to leave Early Access within six to twelve months. We would rather take the extra months than ship a version we are not happy with, and we will keep the roadmap and any change of plan public on the store page and in our Discord.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We will keep adding new rooms and modes throughout Early Access, and keep expanding the question library across categories and difficulty levels. We will refine the systems and animations already in the game until they feel right, and add more characters and outfits to play dress up with. We also have a few things we are keeping quiet about for now. What will not change is the core: chaotic multiplayer with friends, where every question can spring a trap and every match can turn around right up to the last room.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is a full game night, not a demo. Up to 8 players online, six rooms each with its own way of knocking you out and more on the way, over 1,800 questions across nine categories and three difficulty levels, and a Quiz Editor to create custom quizzes and share them through the Steam Workshop. Proximity voice chat, full controller support, ghosts with RC car bombs, character customization, and matches of 10, 30 or 60 minutes that run start to finish.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We plan to raise the price when the game leaves Early Access, as rooms, modes and content are added. Players who join during Early Access pay the lower price and get every update at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Three places, and we read all of them. A Discord where we talk to the people who play in groups, because that is where a game for groups of friends is really tested. The Steam forums and discussions, for reports and requests that should stay public. And the creators and streamer groups who play the game on stream, whose lobbies show us in one evening what a hundred internal matches would not.”

About This Game

You and up to seven friends wake up on a lawn under a painted sky. A screen lights up: WELCOME TO THE SHOW. The rules are simple: survive every room, make it to the end, and score more than the others to save yourself. Every room opens with a question and plays like a different game: a gunfight, a brawl with a bomb on every ankle, a glass tank that floods with each wrong answer.
The Host: "Everyone's here. Nobody's leaving."

"Deep breath. It won't help."
You answer on the move, while the clock runs. A right answer gets you the better gun, ammo, a trap to throw at the others or first pick of the revolvers. A wrong one blows up your platform, charges your ankle bomb, floods your team's tank or sends the gnomes after you. And the longer the show runs, the meaner it gets.

"You were right! Still exploded."
  • Falling Platforms: get it wrong and your platform blows up and drops into a pit of spikes. Share it with someone who got it wrong and it goes for you too.
  • Armory: the right answer gets the better gun and an extra grenade. Then the fight: free-for-all, king of the hill, capture the flag and three more modes.
  • Bombs: every mistake charges the bomb on your ankle. Punches and kindergarten chairs fly while everyone runs from the next blast.
  • Survival: garden gnomes with axes hunt whoever got it wrong. Right answers buy you bullets.
  • Roulette: a wrong answer gets you a shock through your chair. The fastest right answers pick up the revolvers: one live round in six chambers.
...and more rooms, with new ones arriving throughout Early Access. The order is random, and every room is rebuilt each time: shape, cover, traps, weapons, even the teams.

The game comes with over 1,800 questions in nine categories, from video games and memes to history and science. Want your own? Open the Quiz Editor and create custom quizzes from scratch or from a CSV file: multiple choice or true/false, with pictures if you like. Share them on the Steam Workshop, publicly or just with friends, and play the ones other players made. Only the player hosting the match needs them.

Play dirty

"Your friend blew you up. Friends."
Toy mines that creep up on you, a chair to the head while someone is still answering, a grenade with the show's logo on it. Every right answer is worth points and every knockout costs some, so the leaderboard can flip right up to the last room.

"One less. Anyone going to miss them?"
You come back as a ghost, with your own face and your own voice. In most rooms you also get an RC car: throw it, drive it, flip it and blow it up next to the living, unless they shoot it down first. Everyone is back on their feet in the next corridor.

Say it to their face

Shout the answer. Lie about it. Beg for mercy. Proximity voice chat works for everyone, ghosts included: only the players near you can hear you, and walls muffle it. Prefer to type? Your character reads your chat out loud in a cartoon accent.
