Dive drowned hab-shells in short deckbuilding runs: crack the Pressure-Heart, strip the harvest, haul it home. Build a shell of your own and other divers raid it while you sleep. A roguelike deckbuilder fused with asynchronous base defense, in a world the sea took back.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Fathom Reach is a single-player deckbuilder with a base-defense layer on top: you dive generated shells solo, and you also defend your own shell against real divers. The solo dives are ready to play now. The parts that need a crowd, the ranked ladder, the raid economy, and how fair base defense feels, only tune honestly against a real population. Early Access lets us tune them in the open, with the people the balance is for.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Somewhere between six months and a year. We'll leave when the ladder, the economy, and the content depth hold up under real play. We would rather get that right than commit to a date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The four factions are already in and playable, so from here we deepen each one: higher base-building tiers, new cards and bosses, and more events to find on the way down. We also plan controller and Steam Deck support, and a fuller ranked season structure as the population grows. Plans shift with what we learn from players, which is the point of Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The full loop is playable today. Solo, you dive generated shells in short card-driven raids: Open Descent at the Pressure you choose, a shared Daily Signal, and Endless Descent once you've earned the way down. You build and defend your own shell, craft and upgrade your deck, and climb a ranked seasonal ladder against real divers. All four factions are playable, each with its own cards and defenses, plus the shared Flotsam pool.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price modestly when we leave Early Access, reflecting the content added along the way. Early players get the lower price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Balance changes will be driven by real raid data from the live ladder, and we read the discussions. Patch notes will say what changed and why. When a change is contentious, we would rather explain the reasoning and hear the counterargument than ship it silently.”

About This Game

The seas rose and the surface is gone. What's left of us holds on in hab-shells: salvaged homes anchored in the dark, overgrown by a sea that moves into anything warm that stays still. Every fathom takes something back.

One dive, one shell

You raid a shell in a short deckbuilding run. Fight through its chambers, and at each extraction point choose whether to surface with what you've got or push deeper for a richer haul. At the core waits the Pressure-Heart; crack it for the full harvest. The shells you dive are generated enemy bases, each one read by the faction that built it.

Three ways to dive

The solo dives are the heart of the game. Open Descent is the main run, generated shells set to the Pressure you choose. Daily Signal is one shared shell, the same for every diver that day. Endless Descent drops the floor and lets the Pressure climb until you break, once you've earned the way down.

Build a shell others raid

Between dives you build your own shell and lay out its defenses. While you're offline, real divers raid it, and you read the report when you surface. Climb a ranked seasonal ladder against players in your range. The rivals you face are real divers, never bots; when no one is near your rank, the board says so instead of inventing an opponent.

Pick your answer to the drowning

Four factions, four answers to the rising water, and you belong to one. The Hold seals its shell and outlasts everything, betting the water climbs forever. The Stilled live inside a dead leviathan's carcass and call it holy. The Bellows holds the last working air plant and rules by the leash, all railguns and harpoons. The Severed lost their crew and trust the swarm and the open water. Every faction draws on the Flotsam pool, the cast-off divers' common gear.
