What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Stickplosion is a competitive, community-driven brawler — and that core loop only gets better with real players in it. The fights are built around an ever-growing pool of abilities and cards, and around maps the community makes with the built-in editor. Tuning that balance, and hardening the map and card creation tools, is something we genuinely can't finish in a vacuum: it needs a live community making content and playing matches against each other.

We're releasing in Early Access so that the people who'll actually be drafting cards, building maps, and grinding matches are shaping the game while it's still taking form. Their maps, their card ideas, and their balance feedback will directly steer what we build next.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're planning roughly three months in Early Access. That window gives us time to balance the card and ability pool against real matches, polish the community map and card tools based on how people actually use them, and lock in the modes and content for the 1.0 release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version aims to expand on everything the Early Access build is built around: a larger and better-balanced pool of abilities and cards, more game modes and maps, and a more polished community pipeline for sharing maps and cards. We also plan to refine matchmaking and online play, broaden the achievement set, and act on the balance and quality-of-life feedback we gather during Early Access. The core game is already here — the full version is about depth, polish, and content.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Stickplosion is already fully playable. The current build includes single-player matches against bots, local and online multiplayer, the rarity-weighted card draft, and the full set of community tools — an in-game and web-based Card Creator, a map editor with rotating map presets and shareable collections, plus community moderation and reviews. The interface supports automatic language detection across many languages. What's still evolving is the breadth of content and the fine-tuning of balance, which is exactly what Early Access is for.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The final price hasn't been decided yet. As we add content and polish toward the full release, the price may increase — so playing during Early Access is the best value while the game grows.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is built into Stickplosion, not bolted on. Players create and share their own maps and cards directly through the in-game and web tools, and those creations feed straight into matches — so the community is literally building part of the game. Beyond that, we'll gather balance and feature feedback through our Steam community hub and Discord, watch which community maps and cards rise to the top, and use that to prioritize what we add, tune, and fix on the way to 1.0.”

Sound effects and music were similarly produced with AI assistance. In-game text and store-page copy were written with AI assistance as well. All generated content was reviewed, selected, and edited by the developer before inclusion in the final game.
