How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to launch the full version with an XP and reward system, cross-platform online multiplayer, split-screen, an online bot drop-in system for those AFK players, cosmetics/customization, and more maps, to name just some of the planned additions.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Breakaway currently performs well on most devices (with a diverse settings menu) and features simulation-like soccer physics including ball curving based on spin. Test your skills (in slow motion if you'd like!) in Training (with player-spawned bots and objects) and Bots modes (with 3 difficulty settings), with experimental multiplayer in either mode.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will not increase when it leaves Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As a solo developer with a passion for the team-based nature of soccer, the support and input of the Breakaway community will be vital in completing this game. I plan to use the game's Steam Discussion boards & Breakaway's Discord to receive feedback, bug reports, and allow the community to have their say on changes, features, and the general direction of the game going forward--even after the full release.”

About This Game

Overview

Breakaway (alpha) blends tight, physics-based gameplay with unprecedented simulations of world-class ball control in the fairest game of football (soccer) ever made. Although now in its Early Access form, Breakaway currently has an array of features:

  • Play with a controller, or keyboard & mouse in first or third person!

  • Realistic ball physics and control (with simulated Magnus effect aka curve)

  • Control the ball like never before in a game - juggle like a pro or try your hands as goalkeeper!

  • Online & offline Bots Mode (1v1-6v6) with p2p public lobbies

  • Adjustable difficulty, time scale, & match length

  • Training Mode with spawning system - bots, balls, cones, walls

  • 3 unique fields set in a futuristic dystopia

  • Breakaway original soundtrack

  • Offline AFKbot system when you abandon your post at BOTCORP

  • No refs

About

Developed in Godot by a solo dev, Breakaway is community-focused and in it for the long haul. Gameplay and community the most important aspect of this game and its development, and I plan to continue to refine Breakaway in every aspect I can for years to come. Micro-transactions, DRM, and AI "art" are explicitly not a part of this game.
