About This Game

Sortilège is the old art of reading fate in thrown lots. Here the lots are dice, and your rival is throwing too.

A duel fought with dice

One of you attacks and the other defends. You both throw, and whatever the attacker beats the defender by comes off the defender's health. Then you swap. Before you commit, you can re-roll the dice that let you down, so every exchange asks how far you want to push your luck.

Every boon you pass up is theirs to take

Each throw fills your level bar, win or lose. When it fills, three boons are laid on the table and you take one. The two you leave stay there for your rival, so passing on a strong boon can mean facing it a few turns later. Some boons reach across the table and shrink or shatter your rival's dice.

Rival after rival

A solo run takes you across multiple worlds, each with its own cast of rivals, from nervous beginners to opponents who will take you apart. The map forks past elites and shops, so you choose which fights to take and where to spend your gold on new dice and upgrades.

Your health carries from one fight to the next, and nothing patches it up for free. Healing costs the same gold that buys dice, so a sloppy early win is still costing you in the last fight.

It does not stay small

A run starts with three d4. By the end you are throwing d20s.

Beat a boss and its whole dice set is yours to keep.
