What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Deep Shift is a systems-driven underwater maintenance and survival game that will continue to evolve throughout development. Early Access allows the game to grow together with community feedback while core gameplay systems, station mechanics and overall content are expanded and refined.

The current version already contains playable core mechanics focused on repairing, restoring and exploring a damaged underwater station. During development, additional systems, station sectors, events, contracts, tools and gameplay depth will continuously be added.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Deep Shift to remain in Early Access for approximately 6–12 months depending on development progress and community feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Deep Shift is planned to contain significantly more station sectors, gameplay systems and content compared to the current Early Access version.

Planned additions include:

Expanded underwater station areas
More repair and maintenance mechanics
Dynamic station events and environmental hazards
NPC crews, contracts and station operations
Additional tools and equipment
Expanded progression and survival systems
More environmental storytelling and lore
Improved visuals, sound design, animations and optimization

The goal is to continuously expand the station and transform it into a larger and more dynamic experience over time.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version already provides a playable foundation of the core gameplay experience.

Players can explore damaged underwater station environments, use tools and interact with repair systems while restoring parts of the station. Core gameplay systems for maintenance, exploration and environmental interaction are already implemented.

While the game is fully playable, many systems, features, station areas and gameplay mechanics are still actively being expanded, improved and polished during development.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may increase slightly after Early Access as additional content, systems and features are added to the game over time.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will play an important role during the development of Deep Shift. Player feedback, bug reports and gameplay suggestions will help shape balancing decisions, gameplay improvements and future content updates.

Development progress and upcoming features will be shared regularly through Steam updates and community discussions throughout Early Access.”

About This Game

About This Game

Deep Shift is an atmospheric underwater station simulation game that combines maintenance, repair, exploration, and the gradual restoration of a forgotten deep-sea facility.

You are transported to the station by trawler and lowered deep beneath the ocean surface in a diving bell. Far below the waves, a massive aging underwater facility waits in complete silence — damaged, partially flooded, without power in many areas, and barely operational.

You take over the shift of a former technician who already abandoned the station. At the beginning, only a small section of the facility is accessible. Your quarters, basic tools, a workbench, and an old diving suit become your starting point. From there, you slowly bring the station back to life piece by piece.

Repair damaged systems, restore power, water, oxygen, and pressure systems, seal leaks, remove corrosion, clean contaminated areas, and reopen sealed sections of the station. Many failures require more than simple repairs — heavily damaged components must be completely replaced.

Major maintenance work requires precise procedures: water or power systems must first be shut down, damaged pipe segments removed with a grinder, and new physical replacement parts transported, installed, and welded or secured into place.

As the facility is restored, new sections of the station become accessible, including flooded corridors, engineering sectors, maintenance shafts, and exterior underwater areas. Equipped with your diving suit, you venture into the dark depths of the ocean to perform external repairs and recover lost parts of the station.

Every repaired system visibly changes the station. Dark rooms come back to life, machinery powers up, lights return, and more sections of the facility become operational again.

Later in the game, companies and research teams begin using parts of the station for their own operations. New crews arrive in supply diving bells, establish work areas, and create new maintenance jobs, damage, dirt, and technical problems that require constant upkeep.
