Why Early Access?

“As we are nearing the release, we have become increasingly aware that in order to truly make Flame, Forest & Flood the experience it deserves to be, we need to put it into the hands of players. As old gamedev farts, the founders were used to the old ways: making games and just giving them to the players. But it's 2026. Games, especially multiplayer ones, aren't just made for the players. They are made WITH them. By releasing as Early Access, we want to emphasize that. On November 19th, it is going to be the game that we planned to make. But it's you - the players - who will make it complete.

We'd be keen to learn what features you actually want instead of us just assuming features. We'd love to hear your thoughts on the game balance. Being a small team with limited funding, we can't afford to fumble around on things nobody really asked for. So instead, we will open ourselves to community suggestions, working hard to make it everyone's dream game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Between 2 and 6 months”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“1) Garden interactions:
We are exploring the possibility to let the players interact with their Garden more, like pet the dogs for example.
2) More challenges:
There's going to be 21 challenges (7 for each element) in the Early Access build. If they are something the players resonate with, we'd love to give them more.
3) Balance:
FFF is hand-crafted by a small team. Infinite content is out of reach for us. We want to balance the game in a way that feels rewarding for the players, encourages participation in matches, doesn't pressure players to grind, but also doesn't unlock all the content right away.
4) Multiple biomes support:
We want to open the game up for more possibilities to customize your Garden, as well as play as different variants of our Elements during the matches on more beautiful boards. These will most likely come as cosmetic DLCs.
5) Further accessibility features:
The EA will release with a few usual suspects, but since we're a small team and can't possibly do everything, we will do our best to implement additional accessibility features upon request, to target exactly what people need.
6) New modes:
The team has been internally discussing at least two new modes of play, but before we commit to them, we would love to see how players are actually interacting with the game and what they think they are missing.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is a fully playable game with its core loop completely implemented. Things that will come in full version might be some quality of life improvements, balancing passes and new game modes. ”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We are planning to keep the same, low price for the game. ”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We would love community input on the game. It is a multiplayer title after all. We will be running regular polls and taking suggestions on the game Discord and steering the game towards a version of it that the community resonates with the most.”
