What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The Path of Life is still an evolving project, and Early Access allows players to experience the game while it continues to grow. Releasing the game at this stage also gives us the opportunity to gather feedback from the community, helping us identify areas that can be improved and better understand how players experience the game.

Throughout Early Access, we plan to continue refining the existing content, improving gameplay and performance, fixing issues, and polishing the overall experience. While our plans may change as development progresses, our goal is to continue working toward a complete full release with the help of community feedback.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect The Path of Life to remain in Early Access for roughly 1–3 years. This estimate may change depending on development progress and community feedback, but our goal is to continue improving the game until it reaches a state we feel is ready for a full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version currently contains Chapter One of The Path of Life. The full version is planned to include additional chapters that further expand the story, characters, and world of Chitown.

We plan to continue improving The Path of Life throughout Early Access. Our current plans include refining existing content, polishing gameplay, and, where appropriate, expanding the world with additional locations, characters, events, and story elements. As development progresses, these plans may evolve to better fit the overall direction of the game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version contains Chapter One of The Path of Life. Players can experience the game's core features, including exploration, dialogue, storytelling, and the world of Chitown.

Chapter One has a complete beginning and ending and can be played as a standalone experience. Additional chapters and content will be added through future updates.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Have no plans to change the game's price during or after Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The Path of Life is a game centered on storytelling and world-building, so beyond gameplay feedback, we are especially excited to see how players interpret the characters, events, and stories of Chitown. Different perspectives often lead to fascinating discussions, and those conversations will be an important source of inspiration as development continues.”

About This Game

The Path of Life is a narrative-driven game where progression unfolds through walking. The story takes place in a fictional town called Chitown, which is currently affected by a natural phenomenon known as the “Acid Fog,” gradually altering its environment and order.

The player begins in the southern part of the town and travels on foot toward the north. Along the way, you will encounter various events and individuals, and occasionally find yourself drifting into unfamiliar dimensions. There is no strict guidance—exploration and observation shape the experience.

An unnamed character serves as the narrator, presenting Chitown through their own perspective and accompanying the player throughout the journey.

  • Discover photographs, letters, and roadside shops throughout your journey, gradually experiencing the diverse and shifting landscape of Chitown. Stylized dialogue encounters. Although the southern part of Chitown is largely abandoned, those you meet who can still “speak” each carry fragments of their own story.

  • Absurd, PPT-style storytelling that brings occasional moments of humor along the way.

  • Light platforming and combat elements integrated into the journey.

  • Original soundtrack composed by 谢有君 (xieyoujune) and other contributing composers, reflecting the local atmosphere of Chitown.
