What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We're a small two-person team building a game where balance between items, card upgrades, and monster modifiers is critical to the experience. Scoundrel's Dungeon is designed to be challenging but fair, and the only way to achieve that is through real player data and feedback. Early Access gives us the opportunity to observe how players interact with our systems, which item builds emerge, where the difficulty spikes feel unfair, and what content the community wants to see next. We want to shape the final version of the game together with the people who play it.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to be in Early Access for approximately 3-6 months. The core game is already complete and playable, so Early Access is primarily about balancing, polishing, and adding content based on community feedback. The exact timeline will depend on the feedback we receive and how much additional content feels right for the full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand the game in several areas during Early Access. This includes adding more passive items and card upgrades, introducing new monster modifiers, meta-progression between runs, adding hand-drawn art to replace placeholder graphics, and refining game balance based on player feedback. We also are thinking about additional game modes. The full version should feel like a more polished, deeper, and better balanced experience built on the same core that players enjoy in Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core game is fully playable. You can descend through 7 floors of dungeon, fight monsters with modifiers (poison, bleed, thief), buy items from the shop between floors, level up and upgrade your cards, and face boss encounters. The foundation is solid - what we're looking to refine during Early Access is balance, additional content, and meta-progression.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may slightly increase after we leave early access”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We have a dedicated Discord server where players can report bugs through a ticket system, vote on feature suggestions, and discuss game balance. We actively monitor all feedback channels and prioritize changes based on community input. Patch notes and development plans are shared transparently so players always know what's coming next.”

About This Game

A Dungeon Made of Cards

Every floor of the dungeon is a deadly hand of Scoundrel - the classic solo card game. Four cards. One choice at a time. Pick up a weapon, fight a monster, drink a potion, or walk away. The rules are simple. The dungeon is not.

Fight Smarter, Not Harder

Your weapon follows the descending rule - each kill must be weaker than the last. Swing too early and your blade becomes useless. Go bare-handed and you'll pay in blood. Every card you touch is a decision between survival now and options later.

The Deeper You Go, the Worse It Gets

Each floor adds stronger monsters to the deck. Poisonous creatures that drain you room by room. Bleeding strikes that punish overkill. Thieves that steal from your bag. The dungeon learns. You need to learn faster.

Build Your Run

Level up by killing monsters and choose card upgrades. Turn a simple healing potion into a shield generator. Make your weapon more powerful. Buy passive items from the shop - a bag for spare weapons, a map to see the deck, a charm that lets you skip deadly rooms.
