What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The Early Access period will allow us to deliver a game more in line with both our vision and player expectations. Its procedural/roguelite character make it a great fit for EA.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We’re shooting for Q3 2027.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We start with the foundational, battle-tested gameplay, then we plan to develop and release additional features, content and polish, such as new table mechanics, locations, bosses, items, a narrative involving environmental storytelling, graphical and audio improvements and such. This monster will grow bigger and better. The Ancient Ones sent us a clear vision of this process.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game has been extensively tested by players before the EA release (QA tests, demos, public playtests) and received very positively (over 1000 surveys with avg rating of 8.2/10 and Steam demo with ~95% positive reviews).
The fun core loop and a strong, proven foundation are already there, and we’re building on top of them and polishing the experience.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to offer Pool of Madness at a lower price for the Early Access launch, then increase it once the EA period ends and we have a finished, polished and bullet-proof product.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to release updates, continuously gather player feedback and ideas (through the Community Hub, our Discord channel, bug reports and surveys), and make the most fun and madness-filled version of the game based on this cooperation.

We also plan to add a separate, open beta branch with new, bleeding-edge features, before they make their way into the main game.”

About This Game

Imagine Balatro and Inscryption had a baby. That taught itself to play pool. With bullets. In a nightmare.

Pool of Madness is a horror pool roguelite by the creators of Dagon: by H. P. Lovecraft (2 million downloads).

🎱 Perform deadly pool rituals
⚙️ Upgrade your cue and gun
💀 Hunt down ancient Void horrors
💪 Lose your mind, die, return stronger

Good luck, Voidhunter. Remember: fair play is for the living.

SHOOT. LOOT. BLEED. REPEAT.

Cue. Gun. Cosmic dread. Everything explodes. You walk out die in slow motion, a bloody grin on your blackened face.

  • a roguelite fusion of trick shots (billiards), ricochets (pinball), and raw firepower (shooter)

  • seamless cue-gun interplay for addictive flow

  • pool tables are altars, cue and gun: instruments of the liturgy

Perform rituals to lure out void horrors.

UPGRADE YOUR CUE WITH NEW LOOT

Your ever-evolving cue should make the next ritual easier. It will certainly make it different.

  • quickly upgrade your cue with collected parts and try out the upgraded build

  • unlock new powerups and haunted totems, complete the ritual and get ready for the next terror

  • and if all else fails, use your gun to blast your way out

Lose your mind, reforge your cue, return stronger.

BREAK IT TILL YOU MAKE IT

Inspired by games like Dark Souls, Inscryption and… pool, PoM emphasises mystery, discovery and replayability.

  • break rules and improvise to survive

  • discover blood-pumping synergies, multipliers, chain reactions and master the chaos*

  • *picture fish exploding midair in slo-mo, powerups raining down, balls bouncing off their tails and ramping into premium-scored pockets

Ritual is law. Everything else is yours to break.

FACE VOID HORRORS

The rituals are your baptism of blood, preparing you to face a void lurker:

  • complete procedural and custom rituals to lure out ancient horrors

  • hunt them down, get more loot, uncover the story of the missing ship crew

  • or die trying - and come back stronger

Slay void beasts for loot.

CHALK - LOAD - HUNT

So rise, reload and hunt, for the ritual begins anew. Forever.
