What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game has been in development for 4 years and has been refined and tested to the point we want to share it with its intended audience. It features a 1v1 game mode which is ready to go, but we want to work on the single player game mode (map based roguelike) for the full release. We will also be balancing and changing the game from user feedback more closely over the early access period. ”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“1 year”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add a map based roguelike for the full version, to go alongside the main PvP game mode.

We expect the PvP game mode to be in a more polished state than in the Early Access as we imagine there will be elements of bug fixing and balance that only become apparent with a larger audience. Hence the incremental approach. ”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The early access version will contain a PVP mode alternatively playable against a bot. It will work online, via LAN, or via pass and play. It will contain all of the nearly 400 cards and 4 factions, which have been balance tested to the best of our abilities. But we plan to refine this further over the Early Access Period. ”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We're not planning on changing the price when we leave early access. We will continue to provide new features and updates through the Early Access and beyond. ”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will be providing regular updates to the game based on the feedback from the community. The community will help drive the future of the game by suggesting or helping to prioritise new features. Community feedback will also be taken into account for the usual bug fixes and balance changes as well.

We will start by engaging through the community on our YouTube channels where we will share new features and updates at least Monthly and respond to comments. If the community would like other means of communication such as Reddit we would be open to exploring that. ”

About This Game

In Rampallians you build a deck of 40 cards from the nearly 400 cards in the game. It is a PvP where you play gatherers to get the resources to play your other cards and build your settlement. The first decision you make each game is your faction:

PICK A FACTION

  • The aggressive and fast acting Orcs. These are the simplest faction, they go aggressive early and don't require much set up. The Orcs can call on their comrades the Ogres and Trolls for help, or unleash the evil spirits of Gaelic Folklore. But if you don't manage to rush down your opponent you might be in trouble.

  • The versatile and dynamic Humans. Will you train up great Wizards? Or Knights? Archers? Mechanics? The Humans are a slower faction, but their ability to turn their Gatherers into Units, then upgrade those units in different upgrade trees makes them very adaptable.

  • The magical and tenacious Elves. A mid game faction, you can tend to the treefolk, growing them from saplings to great warriors or defenders of the land. Or Perhaps the druids which transform into beasts are more your style?

  • Or the slow but stout Dwarves. Possibly the most comlex of the factions. There miners gain experience at mining or in combat to become more effective in their chosen field. Will you harness the skill of the Smiths? Or the wisdom of the Longbeards? Or maybe the great crafters who can construct workshops to build Automatons and Runes?

  • Plus Dragon cards, which grow from babies into their adult form, each with unique effects from disrupting battle orders to devouring the opponents gatherers. These cards can be included in any deck.

SELECT YOUR BOARD

You then need to decide which resources to fill the 6 slots of your board, between Gold, Ore, Food, and Wood. Prioritising based on the cards in your deck.

BUILD YOUR SETTLEMENT

Play Gatherers to gather resources, Units to bolster your defences and attack your opponent, Support cards to give powerful long term effects, and Special cards for one off abilities. Build a deck of 40 cards from these main Card Types to build your Settlement.

DEFEND YOUR PEOPLE

Choose the order of your Units and Gatherers as well as Attackers and Defenders. Then let the battle commence, as effects and attacks are resolved automatically, but there can be only one Victor!

DESTROY THEIR KEEP

After winning battles you can attack their settlement, choosing between attacking their Gatherers, Supports, or their Keep. When a player's Keep reaches zero health they lose and their opponent is victorious!

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

This game has used Generative AI during the development process. It was used minimally during coding, mostly for auto complete, <1% of the code is a result of the output from AI. More extensively is AIs use in the artwork, in order to speed up the process sketches were created by artist, details were filled in by AI, then artists corrected the output.
