What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Die Young is in the pipeline to becoming a great game. We believe lovers of the survival genre will enjoy it, but also those who like adventures with an intriguing and profound story will find it attractive.
Early Access is a platform that allows us to test this combination and lets you help Die Young grow to its full potential.
For players, Early Access is an opportunity to get their hands on new content as soon as it's shipped and to further support the development of Die Young. For us, it's a great source of precious feedback and advice.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are completing the main story, set for release once we hit version 1.0. The game is scheduled to hit this milestone and leave the Early Access phase at the beginning of Q1 2019.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Currently, the first accessible part of the island has a surface area of about 5 square kilometers with nearly 35 quests/missions to play in order to reach the end of it.
The final storyline will have nearly 70 missions (both primary and optional) and when full access to the island unlocks, the playable area will measure approximately 12 square kilometers to explore.

A few features we plan to add: (in random order)

- more enemies (there are currently 4 types of animal enemies and 2 types of human enemies; we plan to double the number in each category)
- drug-induced/hallucination state where player will have to fight with mind-generated monsters and mobs.
- areas destroyable by fire
- booby traps, killing machines
- more bosses.
- more weapons.
- more parkour / climbing mechanics

Each month we will unlock a new portion of the island and/or new features.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The portion of the island where Die Young story's is set is currently a large free-to-explore area of about 5 square kilometers.
The area is dense with buildings, ruins rich with secrets to be discovered, enemies to be tackled, and dangers to be avoided.
There are about 35 missions along the route of the main storyline, and numerous secondary missions.
All missions can be approached freely as the story is not linear.

The current version comes with core mechanics completed and polished, including climbing, jumps (the "movement module"), combat system, dialogues, NPCs, etc.

Currently, we think that the average player can complete the first part of the island within about 15 - 20 hours of play time.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The price will increase gradually as new game content is added.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Receiving player feedback is very important to us so we can use it to improve and evolve. We hope the Steam Community Hub will become the reference point for all our fans and people who want to help us make Die Young a great game. We have already started to report to the Steam community even before the official release!”

Build - AI vs AI, NPC restyling, CPU optimizations & more!

Hi all!

With this update we introduce a long-awaited and very entertaining feature!
The Ai vs AI interactions!
Are you running in the countryside chased by 3 crazy junkies?
Do you see a big fat guy with a sickle far in front of you?
Try to reach him, maybe you'r lucky and he'll start attacking your enemies so you can escape and enjoy the show!

Actually AI tables are configured so that soldiers executioners and dogs can attack junkies, junkies and wildlife attack practically everyone if provoked.
We will experience various combinations according your suggestions, so keep reporting us feedback!

As usual we keep improving, fixing, enhancing the software and adding new cool things! For example look at...

NPC restyling

Now they looks much better, huh?

Also included in this build:
- Better AI and animations for all NPCs Especially human ones.
- Combat system fixes: ( improved limb to limb and limb to weapon collisions, strange hit reactions reduced )
- Fixed a bug in The Gate shortcut
- Several CPU Optimizations that should improve frame rate stability and raise fps a bit.
- New Music tracks from Simon.

The final levels of the game are almost ready, (actually 6 out of 7 levels are roughly ready and being tested internally! They will be tested still for some months, so to ensure a smooth experience) but before releasing new content in 1.0 next year... you can have a taste of it soon if you are impatient ;-)
Yes, i can officially announce you that we are going to release parts of the final game stages in a free minigame available on steam in the next weeks.
It will be a story happening few hours before Daphne & friends kidnapping. And you will find bind to this story when you are going to play the 1.0 and reach final stages.

We hope you like this update, don't forget to leave your feedback in Community Hub.

Oh, and by the way...
Die Young is on sale! So grab it if you didn't do it already and tell it to all your friends!

About This Game

Die Young

is an open world, dynamic action adventure presented in first-person perspective. You awaken, on a picturesque 12 sq km island in the Mediterranean, buried alive and left for dead. Starving and dehydrated, your struggle to stay alive has just begun. Jump, climb, take advantage of your athletic and parkour skills to overcome the dangers and wildness of nature!

  • Stay Alive.
This is not a "classic" survival game. If you aim to spend many days and nights looking for resources or build a shelter or a fortress, this will not be possible here. Your main goal is to stay alive. Your only purpose is to escape. As soon as possible. Stay hydrated in the hot Mediterranean summer, looking for a way to leave.
  • Equip and Fight.
Stripped of everything of value down to the shoes on your feet, you have to make a run for it. You have no chance of escaping relying on your wits alone. Search for items and combat equipment that can help you survive the nightmare.
  • Explore.
Explore the island and find out more about its enigmatic dwellers, ancient ruins, dark mines and caves. Uncover the awful truth behind the quiet, bucolic life of the island.
  • Escape.
The astonishing beauty of the natural landscape hides deadly threats and foes. Fighting your way out is hopeless. Run, jump, climb, and leave those who want you dead behind.
Nerve-racking and brimming with suspense from the moment you press start, Die Young is an immersive thriller that will take you on an unforgettable dash for freedom and survival.
