What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“- Allow players to check out the game, evaluate the gameplay and give feedback for improvements.
- Get feedback about the single player to balance and fine tune AI opponents (bots)
- Detect hard to find bugs and issues that may only appear with a larger group of players from different parts of the world (e.g. latency related problems)”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Two to four weeks.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The version planned for early access is feature complete (online multiplayer, local multiplayer, single player, all planned gameplay elements are in place - see the manual for details or the description on the store page for a broad overview). The final version should be 100% stable and balanced.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“It's the complete game with all currently planned features as laid out in the manual and described on the store page.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. $9.99 during Early Access, $14.99 for the final release version.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“- Every feedback regarding bugs or flaws will be thoroughly evaluated and result in program improvements
- Feedback regarding gameplay, balance, probably new powerup ideas will be evaluated and if good will be incorporated in the app
- Feedback regarding bot AI will be evaluated and flow back into bot AI”

About This Game

Bringing the gameplay of Midi Maze - the first ever multiplayer fps game - back, Smiley Battle improves its formula with new designs, new maps, new gameplay mechanics, a fresh, modern, easily accessible interface and easy internet match making for up to fifteen players.

Surprise your opponents in confusing mazes!

In SmileyBattle, you roam a confusing maze with your smiley, sneak up behind unsuspecting opponents or get right in the middle of a fight and throw color bags at each other. Earn money to unlock powerups that turn you into a ghost, a vampire or even hand you a nuke to give you an edge in the battle for supremacy.

Utilize new game elements!

Hide behind doors or flee through them - if they aren't locked, which can happen randomly and unexpectedly. You can encounter one way doors, some of which may change the locked side once you pass through them - or even do it just randomly, so you never know whether the door down that corridor will let you pass or trap you with an opponent in your back.

SmileyBattle revives the gameplay of the legendary Midi Maze with new graphics, including four different texture styles, moving clouds in the sky, variable level elements.

Make use of 16 different powerups!

On top of it, you have sixteen powerups at your disposal which you unlock by earning points when hitting or knocking out other players.

You can turn yourself into a hard to see and hard to hit ghost or enable your sonar to spot ghosts, become a vampire and add to your health every time you hit another player, or poison other players. Powerups also allow you to heal yourself or remove the effect of being poisoned from you.

Bounce your shots around corners at double speed, speed up yourself or slow down the others. Use a boomerang to return every damage and its effects to its sender, or become an invincible gun ship by enabling quad shots. If nothing else helps, you can even teleport yourself to a remote area of the map. You can even earn a nuke if you play really well and wipe out everybody - including yourself (but it's still worth it, not just for the fun of it).

Play against smart bots in singleplayer mode!

If you are looking for a solo challenge or your internet connection doesn't work, you can also play against bots at a selectable difficulty level. The bots aren't just dumb drones: They are pretty competent, will dodge shots, hide in cover, select their targets tactically, and even use powerups. You may find them to be quite challenging at higher difficulty levels!

Intuitive, easy to navigate interface.

SmileyBattle comes with a well designed, intuitive interface which is kept in the style of its chubby protagonists. The entire interface can be controlled with a gamepad (which is the recommended input device and gives you the smoothest gameplay). Wherever you may need to input a number, SmileyBattle hands you an on-screen numeric keypad to do so.

SmileyBattle makes it easy to host or join a match with its built-in match maker support, allowing you to play inside your LAN, offer a private game or use a publicly available match making server, protecting your match with a key if you want to.

Modern, aesthetic graphics.

Last but not least, SmileyBattle comes with modern graphics and lighting, including a weather system with varying cloud density and brightness - all with a touch of cartoonishness, fitting the theme of the game.

Listen to your favorite music while playing!

As the icing on the cake, SmileyBattle will play your own music for you: All you need to do is to drop your songs in its music folder.

Color your friends

... and your life!
