About This Game

This is a lethal-like dark fantasy co-op occult detective game where deduction and banishment are not done for you. When you discover what sort of spirit haunts this forsaken city, you alone must be the one to abjure it, by any means at your disposal, sinful or sanctified.

• Burn a ghost's body, or help it find peace.

• Atone for the sins of forgotten kings, or destroy their graves.

• Cure a plague... or kill the afflicted.

However, a ghost is not a ghost without a name, and every haunting encountered in Blight Doctors has a life and a history impacting the city of Seracheim. Characters will comment on the curses plaguing each night, and their clues are vital to uncovering the identities of ghosts, the locations of artifacts, & the source of an ancient blight.

Each successive night will see a new set of hand-crafted, but procedurally placed stories and curses fill the city streets. These narrative legos all interact, and can take the shape of plagues, monsters, haunts, & mysteries. Each provides challenges & choices beyond the average friend-slop.

And if you break enough curses, the city might just stand another day.

Blight Doctors is a co-op, proximity chat game at its core, but is balanced for 1-5 players. This is a co-op game where the players play with eachother, not simply adjacent to eachother. For example:

• Share clues, let the gang split up, or protect eachother with lanternlight and salt lines!

• Perform medicine and make questionable elixirs for eachother!

• Diversify player skillsets in co-op through a player loadout & skill tree!

• Expand the skill tree by collecting codex pages between nights!

• A dynamic clock, not a set time per-night, progresses as your team antagonizes spirits or fails deductions!

• When you die... haunt your fellows as a ghost, and continue to collect clues!

• When others die... carry their corpses, for experimentation, or for offering to demons!

This is the fourth game in The Planar Danse, expanding a world of 1.6 million written words, and it is created by a single developer & world-builder. (me!) I've done my time in AAA, as well as freelance work with Larian/Baulder's Gate 3 & Silent Hill developers, and my inspirations in occult mythology, lovecraftian/gothic fiction, & TTRPG narratives are not hidden. With this, Blight Doctors expands upon the black magic mechanics of the previous choice-based narrative, Apollyon: River of Life, as well as the world of the previous games, with a greater focus on polish, longevity, & atmosphere.
