You start with a brick. Everything else you take, make or steal. Survive a city of gangs, police and SWAT on an island you share with twenty AI survivors who are playing the same game you are — building, crafting, forming clans and raiding each other whether you turn up or not.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“BRICK 2 is one person's game and it is a big one — a city, twenty AI survivors, building, guns, cars, police. I need players to tell me which parts are worth going deeper on and which ones are not, and I need real numbers on balance: damage, armour, speed, how long a day should feel, what things should cost. That is not something I can work out on my own.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“6 Months to 1 Year”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version adds co-op, which the first BRICK was built around and which is the next big job. After that: missions and jobs to take, something worth spending a fortune on, real consequences for dying and being arrested, and Steam Workshop so modders can keep the game going long after I stop.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Playable single-player from start to finish, and a long way past a prototype.

What works today:
• The island: a generated city with wilderness, forest and highways around it, weather, and day and night
• Twenty AI survivors who gather, craft, build, drive, found clans, take turf and raid — and learn from what works
• Survival: health, stamina, hunger and thirst, diseases, and clothing that protects you from the weather
• Harvesting, a furnace, a campfire and three tiers of workbench, with rarity on what you craft and loot
• Base building with stability, tool cabinets, upkeep, decay and code locks — and bases are saved
• Ten guns with real ballistics, iron sights and scopes, fists, and first or third person
• Cars to steal, search and drive, with damage that shows and can be repaired
• Four gangs on turf, wanted stars, SWAT, a prison, a military airbase, pawn shops and stores
• A crew you can recruit to, sixteen skills, a phone, a map and a minimap, an emote wheel
• An arcade with six real, playable games on the cabinets

Not in yet: co-op, farming with your own hands, and anything that makes dying or being arrested actually cost you. Those are at the top of the roadmap.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Early Access will be free. I will announce a price for the final release based on what players tell me it is worth.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“There are specific streamers I want to give keys to, so that the first feedback comes from players who actually want to play this kind of game. There is a Discord, and I will use the Steam forums for the rest. I want the criticism as much as the praise — that is the whole point of doing it this way.”

Core Features

🤖 Twenty AI Survivors, Playing The Same Game

Not spawners, and not a crowd. Twenty survivors with names, who gather wood and ore, cook, craft, build real bases out of the pieces you build with, drive, found clans, take turf and raid each other — and talk about it in chat.
They keep what works and drop what does not, so the island changes over time. Yours has already been lived in for 130 hours before you arrive.

🏗️ Base Building

Build with stability rules: a wall needs something to stand on. Put down a tool cabinet to claim your ground, lock a door with a keypad code, and keep the upkeep paid or the place decays.
Bases are saved — yours and theirs.

🏙️ A City With Its Own Trouble

Four gangs hold turf you can take off them. Police give you wanted stars, and at three stars SWAT arrives.
There is a prison, a military airbase, an army camp, pawn shops, a general store, a clothing store and Big Tony's garage. Traffic drives, pedestrians get out of the way, and the crows go up when you get too close.

💥 Guns, Fists and Real Ballistics

Ten guns with bullet drop and travel time, iron sights and scopes, and first person down the sights.
Fists when you have nothing. Wounds leave scars.

🚗 Cars

Steal one off the street, search it for whatever the last owner left behind, and drive it on real physics. Damage shows on the car, and Big Tony's will put it right.

🌲 Survive, Scavenge and Craft

Health, stamina, hunger and thirst. Diseases, and clothing that decides how much the weather costs you.
Harvest with the right tool, smelt at a furnace, cook on a campfire, and craft at three tiers of workbench. What you craft or loot rolls a rarity, so two of the same gun are not the same gun.

👥 A Crew Of Your Own

Start a crew, hire recruits at a Clubhouse, and tell them to follow you or hold a place. They are armed, and they stay hired.

🎮 An Arcade That Actually Works

The cabinets in the arcade run six real games, live, inside a safe zone. Games you can play — not a screen showing a video of one.

📈 Progress

Sixteen skills that level from what you actually do, with points to spend. Twenty milestones that track your firsts. A phone, a map, a minimap and an emote wheel.
A character you make yourself, and clothing in four tiers to put on them.

🔮 On The Roadmap

This is Early Access. These are the next jobs — not things in the build today:

  • Co-op. The first BRICK was built around four-player co-op, and it is the biggest job on the list

  • Farming with your own hands. Crops, water, frost and yield already work; the planter box, the seed in your hand and the watering can do not

  • Consequences. A hospital bill for dying, a body bag to go back for, an impound lot for your car, and a police station to walk out of

  • Something to spend a fortune on. Property, businesses, cars worth saving for

  • Missions, jobs and contracts

  • Steam Achievements and Cloud saves

  • Steam Workshop, so modders can keep it alive

🧱 Technical Info

  • Engine: Unreal Engine 5.8

  • View: first and third person

  • Modes: singleplayer — co-op is on the roadmap and is not in the build

  • Platform: Windows (Steam)

About This Game

BRICK 2: Rags 2 Riches is an open-world survival game about starting at the very bottom.

You wake up with a brick in your hand. Food, water, a roof, a gun, a car, a name people know — you take it, make it or steal it.

The island is not empty and it is not scripted. Twenty AI survivors are playing the same game you are. They chop wood, mine ore, cook, craft, build real bases out of the same pieces you use, drive, form clans, claim turf and raid each other. They talk about it in chat. They learn what works, and the island you arrive on has already been lived in for 130 hours before you get there.

Above all that sits a working city — four gangs holding turf, police who escalate to SWAT, traffic, shops, a prison and a military airbase. Rob it, join it, take it off them, or stay out of its way.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Pre-Generated:

Some of this game's art and code were made with the help of AI tools, and then edited, rigged, tested and integrated by hand.

- Character models for the police, SWAT officers, gang members and prisoners were generated with Meshy.ai, then re-rigged in AccuRIG and animated with hand-authored animation.
- The title screen background, the loading screen backgrounds and the inventory item icons were made with OpenArt.
- Parts of the game's source code were written with the help of an AI coding assistant. All of it was reviewed and tested before it shipped.
- Store page text and some marketing images were written and made with AI assistance.

Everything else — the world, the buildings, the vehicles, the weapons, the music and the sound — is either hand-made or licensed from asset marketplaces.

Live-Generated:

None. Nothing in this game is generated by AI while it is running.

The game's AI survivors are simulated characters, not a language model. What they say is a fixed set of hand-written lines chosen by what they are doing at the time, and their decisions come from an ordinary game-AI system running on the player's machine. The game makes no calls to any AI service at runtime.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

While a player can remove all of their clothes, there is no genitalia on males or females.
