What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“PROJECT LEVELS is a product that doesn't follow the typical game development rules. I don't have "a few bosses to test" or "make sure the level is beatable problems". There are thousands and thousands of possible combinations when you give the players an in-game editor and you want to build the game on top of it.
Early Access is the most effective way to shape this product into it's ultimate form.
Thanks to players feedback we will essentially bend the current formula into what the community thinks it's the best way to proceed, and together we'll build a solid editor for the years to come.
There are also simply too many things to test for a single individual, and even for a small team, especially when it comes to multiplayer. With everyone trying their most remote ideas, i'll be able to identify bugs and technical problems with higher speed and efficiency.
My feedback and experiences alone would create a product for me alone, and that is the exact opposite of what i want to do.
Early Access will give me enough time to add all the missing features and shape the current ones to everyone's liking, on top of fixing all the bugs and technical issues.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“It will essentially depend on the amount of feedback i get, but as soon as i feel like the editor and the platform are expressing their full potential with little to no technical problems and all the planned features have been implemented, i will leave early access.
If everything goes accordingly to plan, this should take something between 12 to 36 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The main objective is consolidating the existing structure by fixing all the existing problems and improving the overall performance (especially loading times), but i also plan to at least double the current "special objects", add an entire library of textures, sounds and make a series of general QOL improvements.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“I would say that as of version 0.1 PROJECT LEVELS is around 30% complete and all the features in the "About This Game" section are currently implemented. As soon as I get enough feedback I will start publishing regular updates (either weekly or monthly depending on the feedback volume on that specific time) and eventually reach 1.0 when all the features above have been fully integrated. ”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan for the price to increase slightly as we approach version 1.0”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We have a discord server where i personally read and answer to everyone's feedback as well as my personal email where you can write me about anything that comes up in your mind regarding the project. I will also share a public page where users can monitor the progress of certain features at any time and ask me anything about it.
My objective is to shape up this game to the community's liking and i'll do my very best to hear everyone's voice.”

About This Game

  • PROJECT LEVELS is a multiplayer sandbox where you can build, play and share games and interactive worlds, alone or together with other players.

  • No programming knowledge is required.

  • Place objects, customize their properties, connect behaviours and immediately jump into your creation to see how it plays.

  • Invite your friends into the editor and work on the same creation at the same time.

  • Build different parts of a world simultaneously, move and customize objects together, test ideas as soon as you create them and switch between editing and playing without ending the session.

  • Whether you are carefully designing a complete experience or creating absolute chaos with friends, everyone can contribute.

  • Build complex interactions through an accessible visual editor.

  • Create platforming challenges, puzzle rooms, arcade games, multiplayer arenas, cinematic experiences, strange experiments or something that does not fit into any existing genre.

  • Setup triggers, create animations, manipulate time and gravity.

  • Simple ideas can be created in minutes, while the same systems can be combined to produce much more advanced experiences.

  • Expand beyond the built-in library by importing custom models, textures, sounds and songs.

  • Create reusable asset packs, use them inside your worlds and share them for anyone to use.

  • Publish your creations directly to the Steam Workshop and make them available to the entire community.

  • You do not need to build anything to enjoy PROJECT LEVELS. Browse community creations, download anything that catches your attention and play it alone or with other players.

  • One creation may be a short obstacle course. The next may be a puzzle, a multiplayer challenge or a completely unexpected interactive world. Or worse. Much worse...
