Why Early Access?

“ We are a small two-person team developing a Touhou Project fangame 4X strategy title. The core game is already playable, and the Early Access version includes the main gameplay loop, multiple factions, online multiplayer, and support for multiple languages.

We are choosing Early Access because we want to collect feedback from a wider group of players before the full release. Strategy games benefit greatly from real player feedback, especially around balance, usability, pacing, online stability, and long-term replayability. Early Access will allow us to improve the game together with the community while continuing to polish the experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“ We currently expect the Early Access period to last for several months. If the main feedback is focused on balance adjustments, bug fixes, usability improvements, and polish, we hope to move toward the full release within a relatively short period.

However, if community feedback shows that the game needs larger improvements or additional content to better meet player expectations, we may extend Early Access accordingly. At this stage, we expect the Early Access period to last roughly between a
few months and one year, depending on the scope of feedback and development needs.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version already contains the core 4X strategy gameplay loop, 4 playable factions, online multiplayer features, an in-game encyclopedia, multiple enemy types, and support for Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean.

For the full version, we plan to focus on polishing and improving the overall experience based on player feedback. This may include balance adjustments, usability improvements, AI and enemy behavior improvements, online multiplayer optimization, better tutorials and explanations, interface polish, bug fixes, and additional refinements to the encyclopedia and other supporting systems.
Depending on the feedback we receive during Early Access, we may also consider adding more content or features if we believe they are necessary to improve the final experience. Our main goal is to make the full version more stable, better balanced, easier to understand, and more enjoyable to replay.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is already fully playable and includes the main gameplay loop of a compact 4X strategy game, with matches designed to last around 30 minutes.

It currently includes 4 playable factions, including the Palace of the Earth Spirits faction featuring characters such as Koishi Komeiji and Satori Komeiji. Compared with the demo version, the enemy roster has been expanded from 9 to 17, and the Early Access version also includes an in-game encyclopedia, online multiplayer improvements, and many smaller refinements.

The game supports Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean. While the main content and systems are already in place, we still expect to improve balance, usability, tutorials, interface clarity, online stability, bug fixes, and
overall polish during Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We do not plan to change the price during or after Early Access. The price will remain the same for the full 1.0 release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“ We plan to involve the community through Steam discussions, our Discord server, and our Chinese player community. During Early Access, we will collect feedback on balance, bugs, online multiplayer stability, usability, tutorials, localization, and overall
game pacing.
As a small two-person team, community feedback is especially important to us. We plan to read player reports carefully, prioritize frequently mentioned issues, and use feedback to guide balance adjustments, quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and future polishing work. We also plan to share update notes so players can follow how the game is being improved during Early Access.”

  • #3 The Esports Tournament! As events escalated, TOHOTOPIA became the hottest video game in Gensokyo, leading to the grand opening of a fervent Esports Tournament.

Match Duration: A single game takes about 30 minutes, perfect for casual play and repeated challenges.
