About This Game

A 2D RPG that braids the rhythm of a cozy life-sim into the bones of a world you define while putting the RP in RPG. The world of Altera is weaving together forests, plains, caves, deserts, and waters into many other distinct biomes and from there, the game asks the gentlest question of any open world: what will you become next? Farm legendary crops, forge alliances (or rivalries), explore perilous dungeons, and even find love among other species. Will you cultivate harmony, dive into the depths of chaos, or rise as a legendary force? Your evolution, your story, your world.

• 🌱Farm & Thrive – Grow legendary crops, raise magical creatures, and shape your homestead to your liking. But choose wisely...each of the four seasons brings its own challenges and opportunities! Till a patch of dirt with a wooden hoe, plant turnips, water them, harvest them, and turn them into tea or a meal at the right station.

• ⛏️ Mine away! – Brave through dangerous mines to excavate rare minerals and craft powerful gear. Repair minecarts to unlock deeper layers, but the deeper you go, the greater the risk! Will you reach the deepest depths?

• 🦊Tame them all! Most enemies in the world can be befriended with the right gift, and once tamed, they fight beside you as your trusted familiar. So many to tame, some even evolve! Breed them to make new combonations!

• ⚔️ Rank Up, Adventurer! – Face formidable enemies and uncover ancient secrets. Weaker foes are fought in real-time, but boss battles shift to a deep turn-based combat system, where strategy reigns supreme! Your familiar, and any friends in your party face the enemy lineup across an arena that lands wherever the encounter started. Together, perhaps you'll reach the highest ranks in the Adventurer's Guild!

• 🔨Crafter? Start with the basics and eventually buy entire structures that open into their own interior locations such as shops or other buildings of your choice!

• 🎣Fisher? Cast lines in a side-view minigame where the catch depends on the season, the weather, and the time of day.

• ✨Mage? Drawing from elemental schools whose spells combine into stronger effects when chained. Practicing magic will level you up faster, but finding an NPC might give you a secret that can really mix up a fight.

• 💟 Keep in mind... These systems aren't completely separate progressions, they overlap. The wood you chop becomes the table you craft. The crops you grow brew the tea that heals the pet you tamed who fights beside you in your next battle. There's always a place for you, no matter where you choose to grow! Someone will need your talents!

⏳ An Ever Changing World - A day/night cycle paints the world in three time-of-day washes: dawn, dusk, night! Personal lamps light up automatically when the sun goes down. NPCs roam the world: working their shops in the morning, eating lunch with each other, sleeping at night. Each one has gift preferences, dialogue trees, and quests that surface as you spend time with them. Weather rolls through. Seasons turn. The fish swim different in winter than they do in summer. 

🌍 Change the World – Every decision shapes the world and the relationships within it. Your choices cannot be undone. Will you save this world? Become a villain and reign terror? Or.. Just live a cozy life with a cute dragon familiar?

The developers describe the content like this:

This game contains very mild suggestive content. Some character portraits shown during dialogue may include slight cleavage or mildly revealing clothing. Some dialogue may include light sexual innuendo or flirtatious jokes, such as a character suggesting that the player could go back to their place for the night.

Players can also marry characters and start a family. No explicit sexual content, nudity, or sexual scenes are shown. Family-related content is implied only through a non-graphic interaction option labeled “Try for a family” when the player shares a bed with their marriage partner.

Fantasy violence occurs when fighting enemies. Players can attack and kill monsters and are referred to on occasion as "Killing monsters." When a monster is killed, it simply vanishes in a cartoon smoke. There is no blood.

Undead characters will have cartoon blood on their clothes. No bones or gore will be displayed.

Characters will discuss plots about war that pertains to killing humans, demons, monsters and other living organisms.
