About This Game

Three mercenaries. Twelve abilities. One shared pool of energy.

Every turn is a bet on order and cost: who strikes first, who shields, what you can afford and what you hold back. No grid, no movement, just the sharpest plan you can make before the enemy answers.

Steal their strength

Beat a challenger and they're yours for good. Swap them into your team, or take one of their abilities and teach it to a mercenary of your own. Then twist it all with signature items, weapons, charms and treasures. No two teams play alike.

Climb the crowns

Each crown is a trial of battles against challengers you choose, with wagers that raise the stakes for richer spoils. At the top waits a boss that plays by its own rules. Fall, and the trial ends, but every mercenary you've earned stays with you.

Beyond the last crown, the descent never ends.

A living book

The whole game is a printed book on a candle-lit desk, every mercenary, place and ability inked on its pages, every page turning as you play. Each mercenary carries a story, and the kingdom of Coela keeps its own.

Challenge a friend

Bring the mercenaries you've earned against a Steam friend: pick your team in secret, or draft in turns.
