About This Game

The next train only takes you deeper.

HinterGald is a lightweight co-op dungeon crawler for one to twelve (I recommend 4 for the best experience) players. Fight through compact 3D dungeons in real time, grab the loot that drops, and regroup at
the train station before the party boards together and chooses where to go next.
There is no fixed finish line: every completed route feeds an endless cycle, and
familiar places return tougher, larger, and more rewarding.

Real-time hack-and-slash, built for a party

Combat is fast and direct. Enemies — 16-bit billboard sprites moving through fully
3D spaces — swarm, flank, and pressure the party, and positioning matters as much
as damage. Downed teammates can be revived by their party, and a run only ends
when the whole party falls. Monsters drop loot where they die: weapons, armor,
and gear that goes straight into your inventory and change how your character plays.
Survive, level up, assign your stat points, and grow from a fresh recruit into the
build your party is counting on.

Four classes, abilities that overlap

  • The Warrior holds the line and controls space with totems.

  • The Rogue scouts ahead, marks targets, and strikes from safety.

  • The Mage chains elemental spells into crowd control and burst damage.

  • The Architect is hidden at first — unlock the class and turn the battlefield
itself into a weapon with turrets, walls, traps, and support structures.

Class abilities are built to combine slowing, marking, defending, and finishing
enemies; all work better when the team coordinates, so a mixed party clears rooms
a solo player has to approach very differently.

The station between the storms

Between dungeons, the party returns to the train-station hub: recover, spend the
run's cash at the shop, manage gear and saves, and look over the destinations on
offer. Boarding is a group decision — the train leaves when the whole party is
ready — and the cycle counter on the HUD tracks how deep the current run has gone.

Warlord mode: the same world, a different game

When the party wants a change of pace, Warlord mode pulls the camera back into a
lightweight real-time strategy layer. Command a faction, direct villagers,
gather resources, train units, and fight rival factions for control of the map —
then drop back into the dungeon crawl with the same party.

Co-op without the server hassle

One player hosts a Steam peer-to-peer lobby and friends join directly — no
dedicated server to run or pay for. Play the whole loop solo, or carry the same
run forward with a regular party across sessions.
