Why Early Access?

“Taverna is a feature-packed project. Early Access allow us to release the game while iterating on the game mechanics based on the community feedback. As a sandbox experience, we want to develop and shape the game with you, creating new features around what makes more sense and it's fun. We are active on Discord, playing with you and discussing interesting ideas and concepts. ”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Early Access is planned to stay for between six to twelve months, depending on the amount of features the community asks and whether we feel this milestone finished or not. To further clarify, we are not in a hurry to satisfy some publisher or investor, Taverna was born out of a love for RPGs and we intend to spend as much time as possible to develop the game, with the help and influence of the community.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Without making specific promises on when or if they will be implemented, our current roadmap includes the following features:

  • Multiplayer: 16 players with self-hosting, easy server creation, and matchmaking
  • Environment: Physics-based object interaction
  • Roles: Hobo, Bard, Flutist, Traveler, Merchant, Walter, Owner, Gambler, Blind, Artist, Priest, Chef, Cook, Stock Keeper, Stoker, Bouncer and The Drunk
  • Character Customization: Clothes, skin color, hair, facial features
  • Races: Human, Orc, Gnomes, Lizardmen, Goblins, Ogres, Fairies and Minotaurs
  • Actions: Nail, throw, touch, push, eat/drink
  • Gameplay: Airdrop crates, player stats (hunger, thirst, intoxication) and physical debuffs
  • Activities: Chess, musical instruments (gittern, flute) with MIDI support, stand-up comedy, custom cards and tabletops
  • Creative Tools: Ability to draw into anything, books for writing and reading
  • Crafting: Cooking, liquids containers system, heat / oxygen system for cooking and fire propagation
  • Pets: Cats, frogs and ravens
  • Extra: Proximity chat, inventory system, coating, drawing, plants and outdoor, photo shooting and mystery boxes

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core systems are present in the Early Access. In the first phases of Early Access you could expect to have fun but also to find bugs and many rough edges, we kindly ask you to be patient and report anything out of the ordinary to us on Discord or via email.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we ship new content and features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community is at the core of Taverna, as it is a sandbox by nature. In our Discord, there are active channels for sharing new ideas, showcase your creations, reporting bugs, and interact with the developers.”

About This Game

Taverna is a first person adventure in a world of online taverns. Create and customize your own locale or explore others with up to 16 players (per lobby). Earn gold, complete quests, unlock items and have fun with role-play.

Customize your tavern

Paint walls, add forniture, lights, and decorations to create a unique atmosphere. Every detail in your tavern is yours to customize, making it a welcoming place for friends and fellow adventurers.

Voice chat!

Communicate vocally with other players in fun and interactive ways. Organize stand-up comedy nights or just spend the night with your friends.

Freedom to create

Express yourself in a variety of ways: painting, decorating, playing instruments, and customizing the environment.
