What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early access allows us to engage with our community and gather valuable feedback during the development process. We believe that involving players early on will help us refine gameplay mechanics, enhance the overall experience, and ensure that we’re building a game that truly resonates with our audience. Their insights are crucial in helping us create a game that is not only fun but also aligns with what players want.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to develop Prologue: Go Wayback! in Early Access for about 1 year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to make the full version of Prologue: Go Wayback! a far deeper experience than it is now.
We plan for the simulated systems to be enhanced and connected.
We plan to add new ways of surviving and blend them seamlessly with the core experience.
We plan on weaving narrative threads into the world to add lore and mystery.
We plan on adding new and larger locations, biomes and hazards to explore.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Please check the “About This Game” section of the page.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We don't plan to increase the price after Prologue leaves Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We deeply value our community and see them as an integral part of our development process. We plan to involve players through regular interactions on our Discord server, where we can hang out, share ideas, and gather feedback. We believe that building a game is a collaborative journey, and we’re committed to listening to our players. Together, we can create something special that reflects the desires and needs of our community and that we can all be proud of!”

About This Game

OUR MISSION

As our first project, Prologue: Go Wayback! aims to test machine learning-driven terrain generation technology we developed, which allows instant creation of millions of maps. It is an experiment, and the first of three games that will serve as both self-contained experiences and the building blocks for the studio's ultimate project, ‘Artemis’. Project Artemis will be a massive multiplayer sandbox experience that leverages the technological advancements tested and refined in our tech demo, Preface: Undiscovered World, and Prologue: Go Wayback!.

ABOUT PROLOGUE: GO WAYBACK!

Prologue: Go Wayback! is a survival adventure set in the heart of the unknown, where every decision you make determines your fate. You are dropped into a vast, wild landscape, armed with little more than an old, weathered map and the tools necessary to stay alive. Your mission is simple—reach the weather station—but how you get there, and whether you survive the journey, is entirely up to you.

The world is dynamic and unpredictable: the weather can change at a moment’s notice, forcing you to adapt to harsh storms, freezing temperatures, and the relentless forces of nature. You'll need to gather resources, find shelter, forage for food, and keep an eye on the horizon.

The map you hold is guiding you to your goal without telling you how to get there. The world is generated using machine learning technology, meaning every playthrough offers a completely different landscape.

No one will tell you where to go or how to survive. There are no hand-holding mechanics, no fixed paths, and no guarantees.

It’s a world where preparation is key, and improvisation is often the difference between life and death.

Will you find shelter and warmth? Will you have enough food to last? Will the weather turn against you at the worst possible time?

Your ability to read the environment, make the right decisions, and adapt to ever-changing challenges will determine whether you live to see the weather station—or whether the cold hand of death claims you along the way.

Prepare

Use your environment and the tools you find to your advantage.

Travel

Traverse the vast open world in search of food and shelters.

Take Shelter

Shield yourself from extreme weather conditions affecting your stats. But don’t stay in too long. Use them instead to prepare for your next journey.

Fix

Repair items and buildings you find on your way.

Escape

Your ultimate goal is to reach the weather station and call for help.

In Prologue, you’re not just surviving. You’re exploring the wild, unknown, and trying to make it to your destination. How you get there is a story only you can tell.
