What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The development of this open source game is very dependent on feedback from players. Up until now, small scale testing has worked fine, but now that we want to test online multiplayer, we need A LOT more feedback.
We also think that Red Planet Rampage has reached a good enough maturity in terms of polish, that we want can show it off and get feedback on the graphics, gameplay, performance and everything else pretty much that we might not have already thought about ourselves.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Between half a year and one year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“- We want more polish: Better scenery, environments, improved gameplay and design
- We want better accessibility: Better settings (Rebindable keys, better graphic settings etc.)
- We want to improve our network features: Better lobbies, functionality, UI and potentially dedicated servers hosted by our university
- We want more content: New gun parts and maybe even unlockables for in game progression”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“This is an early beta release. The core concepts are in place, as briefly described in the "about this" section of the store page.
The detailed current status of this early access is as follows:
Gameplay
- Up to 4 players, last robot standing wins the round
- First player to win 3 rounds wins the match
- Between every round there is an auction where you can obtain gun parts to alter your gun
- 21 unique gun parts can appear during a match
- Two maps to play on: "Crater Town" and "Grand Canyon"
Ways to play:
- You can play with friends localy with splitscreen, or localy alone against AI players.
- You can play online with splitscreen using Steam remote together
- You can host and join servers online using peer 2 peer (without splitscreen)
- We support using both gamepads and/or mouse and keyboard

We still aim for better polish and more content. There is however enough implemented to have fun with friends for some hours and for most people to be able to play, which is why we want to open up for gathering feedback on a larger scale.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game is 100% open source and free to play and will continue to be so after early access too :)”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want to involve the community by collecting feedback regarding online multiplayer, and also potentially hold new gun part suggestion events where players in the community can suggest ideas for new gun parts.”
