What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access allows me to include player and community feedback from the start. Creating a movement-based game like 'Rooftops & Alleys' is a tremendous undertaking, especially for a solo dev, and getting players involved early on helps to get it right in the long run! A game like RNA needs to feel good, that's what it's all about!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“As I am one person working on everything, making time estimations on this topic is very challenging this early on, especially as it heavily relies on community feedback and potential changes having to be made along the way. The game will likely stay in early access for the entirety of 2024, and will ideally move towards a full release in 2025.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full game will include a polished version of everything being added to 'Rooftops & Alleys' during the Early Access phase. This includes new challenges, game modes, multiplayer, more maps, customization, and more! There's a big list of things in the pipeline and on the drawing board right now, however, it's important for me not to make promises on those things until I know more about how do-able it will all be!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game in its current state showcases the beginning of the movement mechanics you can use to maneuver through the maps and its obstacles, and aims to give a glimpse into the vision I have for my dream game. You can move around freely across multiple maps, learn the movement, perform new tricks, customize your character, and take part in time trials and trick challenges or online Freeplay/Tag with your friends!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The aim was always to try and get people involved as early on as possible, at a lower price point compared to what the finished game would sell for. The price of the finished game would be higher, as that would feature multiple game modes, more maps, and features! Getting the game early will certainly be worth it :)”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community has been a driving factor in the making of this game. As a solo developer, I have been overwhelmed with positive support for my game from all around the globe. The community is constantly giving me feedback, ideas, and so much more creative input than compared to whatever I could think of on my own. The Discord channel is ever-growing, and so is the following on all my social media channels, with everyone being truly invested in making this the best possible game it can be!”
