Why Early Access?

“We decided to go for early access with this title to involve the community in the development of the game so that we can create a game experience that is in line with players' expectations. In the early access phase, we will continuously work on content updates to expand the scope of the game. These content updates will be released in regular intervals. Aside from that, we will collect player feedback, wishes and criticism to add these to improve updates where possible.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are currently planning for a full release sometime in 2026.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have a lot more content than the Early Access version. We plan on expanding the game world, adding more content missions, and introducing new ships. Additionally we will evaluate player feedback and criticisms to create further updates. What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Early Access will give you a first look at key features and content, allowing you to experience and shape the game before its full release. While we’re not revealing everything just yet, you can expect a variety of missions such as coastguard operations and cargo transport, meticulously crafted ships, and a stunning open maritime world.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The pricing will most likely be increased when leaving Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We have an in game bug reporting system. Additionally, please leave your feedback in the bug channel on Discord or in the Steam discussion board so that we can collect and evaluate all feedback.”

Early Access Roadmap

The Career Update is now live!

This update introduces the new My Career system, expands the campaign with missions 4-6, replaces EXP with the new Reputation System, and adds new gameplay features like drone exploration, container trading, and optional deck cleaning.

Continue Teddy's story, build your own maritime career, grow your reputation with harbours, and make your owned ships an important part of your progression.

Set sail and build your career at sea in Seafarer: The Ship Sim. Take the helm of various vessels, explore a vast open world inspired by Northern Europe, and take on a variety of maritime jobs - from cargo transport and rescue missions to firefighting, patrols, and unexpected events at sea.

Start your career as an aspiring captain and earn your reputation across different harbors and factions. Complete missions, unlock new opportunities, expand your fleet, and shape your own path on the water. Whether you are transporting a variety of cargo between ports - from bulk goods and containers to LNG - answering distress calls with the Tide Guard, scouting the sea with your drone, or simply enjoying the rolling waves, every voyage brings something new to discover.

A story-driven campaign follows Teddy, an experienced captain with a troubled past. As sabotage, piracy, and old secrets come to light, you become part of a maritime mystery about guilt, trust, and redemption.


With accessible ship handling, varied onboard interactions, dynamic weather, ocean currents that shape navigation, and impressive waves powered by Unreal Engine 5 and NVIDIA WaveWorks 2.0, Seafarer: The Ship Sim brings the freedom, atmosphere, and adventure of life at sea to every voyage.
