Why Early Access?

“Into the Crypt is a deep, systems-driven game and Early Access is the best way to get it to a larger player base to help shape it into the depth and design it was meant to be. With over 100 enemies, and dozens of interlocking status effects and synergies, the only way to truly balance and refine this much content is to get it into the hands of many players. Combat feel, card balance, enemy difficulty, and run pacing are all things that benefit enormously from a wide range of playstyles testing them. I want the community shaping the Crypt alongside me as it grows.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I'm planning for roughly 9 to 12 months in Early Access. That window gives me enough time to add the remaining planned content, fully balance the existing classes and enemy roster, and respond meaningfully to player feedback. This estimate may shift depending on the scope of community-driven additions, but my goal is a polished 1.0 rather than an arbitrary deadline.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version aims to expand significantly on what's available at launch. Planned additions may possibly include more playable classes beyond the starting roster, an expanded card pool, tem selection, additional enemies, more events and encounter types, and deeper progression. I also plan to refine and rebalance existing systems based on Early Access data, add quality-of-life improvements, and add expand modes like the 'Endless Crypt'. The core experience will already be feature-complete during early access while the 1.0 version will be about greater polish and breadth.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Into the Crypt is already a complete, playable roguelike deckbuilder. The Early Access version includes three fully procedurally generated floors, three distinct classes (Berserker, Alchemist, and Druid) each with their own mechanics and decks, over 300 unique cards and effects, 100+ enemies with individual passive abilities and playstyles, 200+ items/artifacts/potions, 50+ events, multiple encounter types including hidden ones, and an experience system. It's a content-rich experience you can sink many hours into right now. The full feature list on the store page reflects what's currently in the game as well.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may increase modestly when the game leaves Early Access, reflecting the additional content and polish added during development.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is central to how I develop Into the Crypt. As a solo developer, I'm active and reachable directly through our Discord, the Steam community forums, and social channels. I'll be gathering feedback on card balance, enemy difficulty, and run pacing, taking suggestions for new cards, enemies, and events, and using gameplay data from real runs to guide tuning decisions. Players can report bugs, propose ideas, and help prioritize what gets built next. The Crypt grows based on what the community wants to see in it.”

Class-Driven Combat

Berserker - Generate and spend Fury as a second resource, unlock a special card when reaching threshold.

Alchemist - Brew unique potions during combat. Collect ingredients and form concoctions.
