What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“As a small new studio, our first priority is releasing a solid game. Ghost Network is a systems-heavy hacking game with a lot of moving parts: two ways to hack (terminal hacking and the 3D runner dive), player-written GhostNet scripts, readable stolen files that link jobs together, adaptive security, and heat that follows you home. We expect edge cases and bugs that only show up once real players start pushing things in ways we can’t predict. Early Access gives us the runway to catch them, hear directly from players, and ship a polished 1.0.

We also want to build multiplayer with the community. The online roadmap, with den raids, ranked 1v1 duels, team modes, Bounty Hunt, Worm Race and 5v5 crew wars, runs on our own peer-to-peer networking with no servers. It needs real player load, balance feedback and community input to get right. We’d rather build it with you than guess in a vacuum.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect 8–16 months and are aiming for full release within about 12. The single-player game is complete at Early Access launch. Early Access focuses on rolling out the multiplayer updates (v1.1 through v1.4), balance tuning from player feedback, and features the community asks for. We have a clear four-phase multiplayer roadmap, but we’d rather take the time to get it right than rush to hit a date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full release adds online play: den raids on other players (online or offline), ranked 1v1 duels with seasons, team modes (King of the Node, Capture the Data, Bounty Hunt and Worm Race), 5v5 crew wars over territory, a player-driven market, seasonal rankings and world events. Everything you learn in single player carries straight into multiplayer. The single-player game at Early Access launch is the complete game; multiplayer is what Early Access is building toward. Some multiplayer may already be in at launch, and the rest arrives in free updates.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The full single-player game is playable from start to finish:

Story: story missions tied to the Welcome To Neon City anime, working beside Neon Ghost.
Two ways to hack: terminal hacking driven by typed commands with a live network map, and the 3D runner dive.
GhostNet Script: write, save and run your own automated hacks in a Python-style language.
GhostOS: your hacker desktop, with contracts, messages, the city map, the black market, your deck, stolen files and the terminal.
Jobs: a job board full of contracts and fixers who reward loyalty with harder jobs and bigger payouts.
Targets: shops, apartment blocks, clinics, factories, banks and corporate towers, each guarded by firewalls, Watchdogs, Hunters and Black ICE.
Readable files: every stolen email, chat log, staff file, camera still and voicemail can be read, and their clues and codes open later jobs.
Your rig: decks across consumer, professional, military and illegal custom tiers, with programs, upgrades and heat and escalation systems.
Training: Neon Ghost teaches both ways to hack.
Options: full save/load, settings, controller support, custom controls and accessibility options.

Coming during Early Access: online play with den raids, ranked duels, team modes, crew wars, a player market and world events.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will increase as more content is added toward full release. Players who buy during Early Access get the complete game and all future updates at no additional cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Discord is the hub. We run a dedicated Discord server where players can report bugs, suggest features, vote on multiplayer balance changes, and share Python scripts and strategies. Multiplayer mode priorities and balance tuning will be directly influenced by community feedback and polling.”

STEAM PAGE LIVE! DEMO LIVE!

Ghost Network: Dark Hacker — The New Demo Is LIVE

We rebuilt Ghost Network from the ground up, and the new demo is available on Steam now.

The first demo had too much typing with too little guidance and was confusing to get into. So we started over, with new art, a new intro, new music and a new way to hack.

What’s in the demo:

  • Terminal hacking: scan, move, crack gates, pull the data and wipe the logs, all from the command line, with a live network map that shows every move you make.

  • The 3D runner dive: race through the network, hop traps, duck lasers and fire programs on the move.

  • Neon Ghost’s training: learn both ways to hack, step by step.

  • GhostOS, your hacker desktop: contracts, messages, the city map, the black market and your deck.

  • Real jobs against Neon City targets, and stolen files you can actually read.

Everything you see is still in development and may change as we push toward launch. Your feedback shapes the full game.

If you enjoy it, please wishlist Ghost Network: Dark Hacker. It really helps.

Thanks for playing. More to come.

About This Game

Neon City never sleeps, and every door is a contract.

Ghost Network: Dark Hacker is a cyberpunk hacking game set in Neon City, the world of the Welcome To Neon City anime. You’re a new hacker with your own handle, trained by Neon Ghost, the city’s most wanted ghost in the wires. Take contracts, break into networks, steal what’s worth stealing, and get out before the trace finds you.

TWO WAYS TO HACK

Terminal hacking. Hack like it’s real. Scan the network, move node to node, crack gates, run your programs, pull the data and wipe the logs, all from the command line. The network map shows every move you make.

3D runner dive. Jack in and run it. Race through the network in 3D, hop traps, duck lasers, slip past firewalls and fire programs on the move while ICE hunts you down.

Same jobs, same rules, same stakes. Pick the way you play.

WRITE YOUR OWN SCRIPTS

GhostNet Script lets you write real automated hacks in a Python-style language. Build scripts that scan, crack, pull and clean up for you. Save them, refine them and build a toolkit that’s yours alone.

GHOSTOS, YOUR HACKER DESKTOP

Everything runs through GhostOS. Boot your cyberdeck, take contracts from fixers, read your messages, study the city map, shop the black market and plan the job before you go in.

EVERY FILE IS REAL

Every file you steal can be read: emails, chat logs, staff files, camera stills, voicemails. Read them closely. Codes and clues in one job open up the next, and some secrets are bigger than the contract you were paid for.

THE STORY

Work beside Neon Ghost through the story of the Welcome To Neon City anime, with story missions tied to the show’s episodes.

A CITY FULL OF WORK

  • Fixers who reward loyalty with harder jobs and bigger payouts.

  • A job board full of contracts: quick data grabs, camera loops, message intercepts, full network break-ins.

  • Every building plays differently: shops, apartment blocks, clinics, factories, banks and corporate towers.

  • Security that fights back with firewalls, Watchdogs, Hunters and Black ICE. Get sloppy and the heat follows you home.

BUILD YOUR DECK

Start on a street rig and work your way up through consumer, professional, military and illegal custom decks. Load programs like Icebreaker, Cloak, Hammer, Decoy, Seal, Mapper and Wipe. Upgrade your hardware part by part for deeper dives, quieter moves and bigger jobs.

MULTIPLAYER IN FREE UPDATES

After launch, free updates bring online play to Neon City, with no servers needed:

  • Den raids: hack other players’ dens, online or offline. Upgrade your defences or wake up robbed.

  • 1v1 duels: one attacks, one defends. Ranked, with seasons.

  • Team modes: King of the Node, Capture the Data, Bounty Hunt and Worm Race.

  • Crew wars: 5v5 network battles over territory, with a player market and world events.

Everything you learn in single player carries into multiplayer. The opponent is just human now.

PLAY YOUR WAY

  • Terminal hacking or the 3D runner dive.

  • Controller support and fully customizable controls.

  • Accessibility options: colour-blind palettes, UI scale, reduced motion, dyslexia-friendly font.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

The game uses Images generated in Chatgpt, also voice lines generated in ElevenLabs. While the core of Neon Game Engine was built by me and the game it self was built by me all code was coded by me.
