What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I have a working game here, but I think I need a lot of player feedback before I will consider it finished. I want to add more content to the game, but I also want to make sure it is following the fun. Ideas include a wider variety of monsters, some kind of progression and even an additional, optional mini-game are on the table.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I don't expect it to take longer than 1 year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to incorporate ideas based on player feedback, and hope for the game to be more polished as well. The things I expect players to suggest may include more monster types, more pieces of lore to help players, variations on gameplay strategy, and some quality of life improvements.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game has a complete game loop ready for play, everything in the About This Game section is already implemented. The game, although a point and click, detective style strategy game, has a short, rogue-like loop to be accomplished in a single session. There is a save feature, but it only allows you to leave the game, and start up where you left off, so it does not disrupt the rogue-like elements. The game provides a report of how the player did at the end of each session, and also stores the top 10 most successful missions for future reference.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No I plan to keep it the same price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“There are a couple features I am thinking of adding, but I am really not certain about them, and I would love to get some player feedback about how to best implement them. One of them is the rolodex, where you might be able to contact expert monster hunters for a particularly high fee, in case you are stumped. Another is the possibility of entering a first person, or top down, dungeon crawler style gameplay where you could hunt the monsters down directly. I am interested but hesitant to add either of these features, as they seem to go a bit too far from the core loop, and may end up destroying the atmosphere the game sets up.

I have a discord server, and the Steam forums to help communicate with players. Discord Link: https://discord.gg/ZcajMsA4Mt”

About This Game

You are an analyst in a very secretive, underground organization. Scour tabloid headlines, police reports and other sources in order to locate supernatural threats to the safety and sanity of your fellow citizens.

Players have various tools at their disposal in order to achieve their goal.

Tabloids are a great place to start looking for information about monster sightings and attacks. Unfortunately, the tabloids also have two major weaknesses. First, they are almost totally unreliable, and should not be trusted by themselves. Second, their availability is limited, only ten headlines are released per day. Still, they make a good place to start identifying possible monster activity.

More reliable than tabloids, reports come in two varieties, Police and Coroner. Reports are available for each city, but will cost money to access. They provide factual information, but will not mention monsters or anything that might threaten the reporter's credibility.

Selecting your team is an important step in the process of monster research. Make sure you try to identify the type of monster you are going after, otherwise your team may not be properly prepared.

Lore is collected as a player progresses through the game. Each attempt to take down a monster will result in small, but helpful hints that will make it easier to identify possible monster activity.

The game is still in development and new features have been added, or are on the table. As of the demo (version 0.3.4) release, players can now access the Dolodex and select specific team members, choose specialists, or train team members as needed.
