Why Early Access?

“This game is fun, but it can get a whole lot better. The best way to do that is by listening to the gaming community. The Old World is massive, and we want you to have a hand in crafting it. Early Access is a fun way to receive constructive feedback by players who are invested in the future of the game, work with our players to bring in exciting features that they dream of and keep the players involved every step of the way.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“For at least one year, but depending on player feedback and the amount of content we choose to put into the final game, it may take longer.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Expanded Multiplayer features are a top priority.

We plan to add a multitude of new features and content including open world travel, persistent armies, greater character and army progression, custom army builders and more. We want to create a dark, living, vibrant world that takes your breath away. We want new worlds to conquer, additional foes to slay, and neutral races and towns which make a big impact on the game.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Feature-wise the game is about 75% complete and content-wise it is about 50% complete.

Most planned core features of the game have been implemented. Single-player is fully functional and Multiplayer will be released soon after Early Access.

There are currently three fully developed biomes out of a planned total of nine. There are about 15 different items (weapons, materials, armor, etc.) in the game, which we plan to expand drastically. We have one complete race (Kingdom of Andar) which will be expanded to six (Undead, Marauders, Daemons, Keepers, Little Folk) with incredibly different playstyles relying on completely different resources. We have around 35 different types of creatures including monsters, animals and bosses.

There is currently Act I - Ruun Province available as a fully-fledged Single-player campaign. This is intended as a testing ground for future features. content, and Acts.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No definitive plans here yet, but it is likely that the price will be increased over the course of the Early Access period. The price may also increase moderately when we release with full features. We will try to keep the game accessible to all.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We currently use the Steam forums as our primary ways to talk to our community. Players are welcome to suggest new features and modifications in the "ideas & suggestions" chat channel. Upcoming changes are openly discussed with the community for early feedback. A closed test-group of players have access to the latest builds of the game and work closely with the dev-team. The test-group evaluates and tests new features and changes before they are released publicly. We will continue to develop this process based on the needs and feedback of the community.”

About This Game

The Old War is a dark fantasy co-op strategy game where your army remembers. Train persistent units, build a city from the ashes, and lead your people through a world consumed by the mysts. Every victory makes you stronger. Every defeat is a devastating blow.

Your soldiers are not disposable. They stay with you from battle to battle, growing stronger, gaining scars, and becoming legends... or forgotten names. Every loss is permanent. Every victory is earned. Train them, equip them, and watch them evolve from raw conscripts into heroes who can turn the tide.

Choose how you rule. Be a master administrator and build an empire of industry. Dominate the battlefield through brute force and tactical genius. Or harness the chaos itself with spectacular magical powers. Your leadership style shapes your city, your army, and your story.

Build a thriving settlement from nothing. Develop resources, research technologies, and put your people to work. Invest in better training grounds, stronger walls, and the infrastructure needed to survive a world that wants you dead.

Ages ago, the mysts descended like the vengeance of a forgotten god. Cities vanished. Armies were swallowed whole. The land was scorched and left to rot.Now the fog has lifted. What remains is worse: twisted forests, vile monsters, and the silence of empty settlements. You are one of the few leaders who survived. Reclaim what was lost. Or die trying.

The old world left more than ruins behind. Clans, creatures, and strange settlements have survived the onslaught. Ally with them, trade for resources, or wipe them off the map. How you deal with neutral factions is up to you.

Follow the main questline to reclaim each territory, or pursue side quests to bolster your forces. Sabotage enemy supplies, befriend local towns, or kick down the front door. The choice is yours in how you defeat your foes.
