June Updates

Citizen!

First of all: sorry for the radio silence.

We've been busy working on Chapter 6. It's a strange, demanding beast. Progress has been great, but there's still a lot of work to do before it's ready for prime time. Rest assured, we'll announce a release date as soon as we know what it is.

In the meantime, here's a fresh build with a decent amount of improvements. Nothing earth-shaking, but minor adjustments make a difference as well.

Below you'll find a content rundown:

Update #1 (2015-06-24):
• Engine: Fixed loading glitch after a settings change
• Engine: Fixed bug that stopped dialogue options from dimming correctly
• Game: Added chapter captions
• Game: Automated game update pipeline
• Game: Improved performance while on menus
• Game: Improved stability
• Chapter 2, 4 & 5: Tweaked background graphics
• Chapter 4: Tweaked dream map descriptions
• Chapter 5: Tweaked background graphics
• Chapter 5: Tweaked object descriptions

We hope you like it and shout out in the comments if you encounter anything strange/buggy in the game. Thanks to everyone who's taken the time to report an issue in the game!

Cheers,

- a

3 Years On Steam Sale!

Citizen!

This is happening right now:

I'm wearing a black hoodie, drinking Becherovka (that I bought leaving the Czech Republic). I haven't shaved in three weeks (because that's how I roll). I'm slow-dancing to the track 'Horse Steppin'' from the first Hotline Miami game. It's great. Put it on. You won't regret it.

The reason behind all this sexy madness is because I felt like celebrating our first three years on Steam! It's been a wild ride full of releases, screenshots, updates, hot sex, cocaine, bug fixes, car chases, shoot-outs with the police, and lots of great feedback from you guys! Thank you for being there with us!

If you're still on the fence about the game, we lowered the price by 66% this week. Try out the first two chapters, or buy it all in one fell swoop if you're feeling adventurous. Either way, I think you'll have a great time!

That's pretty much it. We hope you're doing well wherever you are. As for me: my ass is in Sweden but my heart is still in the Czech Republic. The machine loves you!

Děkuji,

- a

The Dream Machine is a twisted, dreamlike, sometimes disturbingly nightmarish point-and-click game done in clay animation style.
Gameplay 7.5 out of 10
The puzzles are mostly point and click some are quite easy to solve and some are a bit tricky and even a bit absurd.
Graphics 9/10
Pure honest hard work done by the hands of “sexy Swedish guys”.9 Points for the unique, morbid style. I really really like the clay graphic style. Two Thumbs up for the game devs for putting such a heck load of work into this game.
Music 8/10
Dreamlike, ominous sounds, which nicely add to the atmosphere
Story 9/10
The story is intriguing and sometimes even a bit disturbing and grim. To make it short, without spoiling anything, you travel through the dreams of various people with the help of the Dream Machine.
I'd say definitely a must buy for all point-and-click gamers and casual gamers. Although a bit grim and disturbing sometimes

I'd never heard of this game when I got it in a bundle. I now think it's the most underrated game in my library, and perhaps the most underrated point-and-click I know of. The story is incredible. It's very imaginative and becomes darker and more intriguing the deeper you go. It reminded me of the early films of Jeunet and Caro (Delicatessen, City of Lost Children) which is no small accolade. The puzzles are decent and never illogical; the few times I cheated I kicked myself when I read the solution. I would recommend The Dream Machine over many other, more renowned point-and-click games. Very glad I stumbled upon this one.

Adorable graphics and storyline. I congratulate the creators of this game for their vision. Players will enjoy the deep freudian realms and will feel like the whole world is upside down. From the routinely casual life of a simple guy who rents an apartment to the philosophical conversations with decrepit statues, all will amaze you. Remember, it's a game for the point and click fans:)

A rare adventure that lets you find your way through an honest twilight of intimacy and absurdity. The symbolic themes are brought to life by the haptic claymation, and the mundanely relatable characters make the extraordinary circumstances all the more striking. The Dream Machine seems to know exactly what it is, and makes it a treat for anyone to try and find out for yourself.

This game has been in development for about 5 years now, so far 5 out of the planned 6 chapters have been finished. The reason it has taken so long is that the entire game is being built -by hand- with real materials like cardboard, clay and wood. It is absolutely beautiful, as you can probably imagine. Not only that, but the story AND the writing are both terrific! I'd say that almost all the puzzles hold some sense of logic to them, but as this is a game about entering people's dreams, it somewhat fittingly DOES start to lose some of it's sanity with it's puzzles (as is the case with all adventure games unfortunately). I had to use a walkthrough a few times to complete it, but that's the case with pretty much any adventure game I've ever played...

I absolutely recommend playing this! It's not finished yet, and based on how long it's taken to get the first 5 chapters out, it seems like we'll be waiting a while yet for the ending, but it's a wait very much worth enduring!
