Az emberiség erőinek sarokba szorított és a semmivel szembenéző viharvert maradványainak félre kell tenniük a régi gyűlölködést, és össze kell fogniuk, hogy felkészüljenek egy végső, elszánt küzdelemre. Supreme commander forged alliance... The sheer diversity, complexity, simplicity (yes i know they are contradicting points,) attention to detail, scale, and everything else about this game is truly amazing. This game has so many upsides that its hard for any one person to find them all, and so few major downsides (bearing in mind its an old game,) that anyone can enjoy it. Wether you enjoy watching the combined fire of 100's of tanks, robots, bombers, naval craft etc devastate an opposing army or base, looking on in awe as a few well placed artillery shots destroy a commander, and as a result take out an entire base, or simply seeing one unit defy all odds and defeat a far greater force, there is something for everyone, (and this is only naming a very very small minority of scenarios in-game, just a few of my favourites)

Combat. Well, the game allows you to construct armies of up to 1000 units, which makes for incredibly huge, exciting, and awe inspiring battles. When 2, 3, or even 8 armies clash in one huge battle, you get a moment that i just cant recreate in other games. You can fight over every type of terrain, be it land, sea, or the sky, (theres even a mod out there that lets you go to space.) Admittedly, after a certain point (eg when you have 4 players, each with 100's of units) the game does slow done a bit, as it has a set cap, meaning that even if you pc can handle it, it will slow it down anyway. This is the only major fault i have for the game. But if you can overcome this, you will be rewarded with the best combat in any rts game, period.

While i personally dont play the campaign, it is still amazing. Featuring a great storyline, and intense missions, the campgaign will make most people happy. Each mission is quite long (lasting hours in some cases) and each one has varying objectives, wether it is to destroy an enemy base, or civilians, or simply having to hold the line.

There are 3 factions (4 in the dlc,) each with there own playstyle and features. Wether you prefer an army or robots, the rugged look of futuristic human armies, alien inspired or armies, or even an alien army (with the dlc.) There is bound to be something everyone can enjoy. Each has its own unique campaign aswell, meaning no one is left out.

Even IF you get bored of the base game (i dont see how you could) there is brilliant mod support. The game features an in-game mod manager, and if you have something such as winrar, all it takes is a few minutes to add another 100 new units. An active community after all these years is present, updating and releasing all manner of content for the game, if you do manage to find something you dont like, such as, lets say the ui, there are a multitude of mods out there that would solve your problem. And, if your friend has the same mods as you, you can play together with them online.

Overall, i personally feel that this is the best strategy game ever created. All of its features are amazing (though a hd mod/dlc would be nice.) I hope my review helped you decide wether or not to get the game, and why wouldn't you, at £9.99 (£2.49 atm as its on sale,) this game is an amazing deal, i would still pay £40 for this game, no questions asked.

Ill end my review on a recent game scenario, one that i particularly enjoy.

I was hard pressed after 60 minutes or so. 2 alx (very hard) ai's had created a large base together, impenetrable to my forces. My defensive perimeter had buckled and fallen under the might of their joint army. A cybran experimental, a monkeylord, was approaching, and only a few measly tech 2 turrets protected my commander, a few mass and energy stations, and 2 engineers. I needed only a few more minutes to finish my construction, but a few minutes was something i did not have. An enemy navy had surrouned my atlantis submersible aircraft carrier, and would surely destroy it if it were to surface, but i needed it, and took the risk. It came up from the depths, instantly taking fire from 10 or so battleships. I slowed the game down untill it was 10 times slower than normal, allowing me to make crucial decisions, that i would otherwise have to skip. I ordered the carrier to unload at my location. I sped up, and watched as nearly 200 tech 3 gunships pured from its sides. The carrier fell, as did a quarter of my airforce, as the enemy moved in its destroyers and fihter squadrons. The gunships were falling fast. but i managed to get to my base with at least 100 left. They destroyed units as they passed, but my radar had been taken out. i circled around, finding that the enemy force was at least 3 times as big as i thought. I focused fire on an experimental, bringing it down, the ensuing explosion taking out some of the army. I managed to eventually destroy the force, leaving only 20 gunships left, but it was done. My mvaor experimental artillery was complete. I sent my remaining gunships over as scouts, finding the enemy commanders. The mavor shot shell after shell. Each one filled with a small nuke, and within a few minuted, both commanders were down, and as their nuclear reactors failed, they let out an explosion, tearing apart their base. I had won, and that, is why i love this game.

An amazing RTS. I somehow passed it, futuristic themes and robots just don't appeal to me, and yet now I'm into it.
Very nice, unique and addictive. Surprisingly for better or worse not what I expected this game to be. It appears to have far more appeal, its very simple to grasp and start playing and there is not as much in terms of tactics. Until you find the hold shift-click combo.
Oh boy.
I can't think of any RTS that allows you to direct your troops in this much detail. Screw formations and all that I was expecting, you can lay out how the tanks will take over the bay, all while laying out how the airplanes will circle the enemy base, drop precise strikes and return, and have ships patrol the area. Some of my patrol routes, scouting and attack patterns got so complex and so beautiful to look at it's pure joy. Very useful, very intuitive, don't underestimate that tool!

Also, the map is awesome. Yeah for once an RTS got the map right, you zoom in and out of your view, and if you zoom out far enough, units and buildings become points, like on a map, and it all becomes a large, interactive, tactical playground. I can't stress how useful and pleasant this is and how seamlessly the normal view and the tactical view blend together.

I see no reason why not to recommend this game, at the price it is very much worth it and it is accessible to newbies to the genre and long time RTS players alike.

How do I even start reviewing Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance? I think I'll start by telling about something that happened earlier today while I was playing a multiplayer match, an experience that quite well describes several of the qualities of this game. It was quite late into the game, about 30-40 min in and everyone had grown quite powerful. My Armored Command Unit, your most important unit that you use to build your whole army and whose death means you're out of the game in most cases, was under heavy attack from a swarm of Gunships and a Heavy Artillery Installation firing away from the other side of the map. I managed to bring my fighter planes in to take care of the enemy Gunships but the ACU was really low on health, another devastating artillery shell was incomming and if it hit I would be out of the game. The shell was going straight for it's target, I was going to lose. But I did not, straight above the ACU the shell hit an unfortunate fighter passing above and destroyed it. An artillery shell from the other side of the map hit a ridiculously small and fast moving fighter plane, I could hardly believe my eyes.

There is an unbelievable attention to detail in this game, every projectile is calculated individually which adds great tactical depth. Good micro and smart use of the lay of the land can have a significant effect on the outcome of a skirmish as shots might miss, impact hills, rocks or units they where not intended for. This combined with the games truly epic scale brings one of the game's few minor drawbacks, seven years after release even the fastest computers have to slow down when literally thousands of futuristic aircraft clash.

The scale is another thing worth mentioning, the size of the maps range from quite small 5x5km maps to the enomous 81x81km battlefields that it take several minutes for even the fastest units to cross. So no matter if you want to wage war for hours against 7 opponents or if you're interested in intense StarCraft styled matches Forged Alliance will provide.
There is also a great variety of units, from small land scouts that take seconds to build to colossal experimental units that could take hours for a single engineer to construct but are able to singlehandly defeat huge armies. The balance between units is good, all four factions are viable and almost all units fill some role during some part of the game without any unit standing out as particularly overpowered which is quite impressive as there are hundreds of them.

To summarize, this game is a polished gem. The gameplay, both single- and multiplayer, is great, the design is amazing, the sands of time hardly seem to affect the game at all and the replay value is close to infinite. I'm a huge fan of real-time strategy games and I honestly believe that Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance is the apex of the genre.
