"Just one more turn.." a phrase that perfectly sums up this game and the civilization franchise. Purely addictive grand strategy. If you even slightly like strategy games or want something addictive then this is it. Unfortunately time seems to travel faster whilst playing this game so cancel all plans!

10/10 would play one more turn.Seriously tho this game is life sucking if you like strategy games but apm is stupid for you and you only like the strategy part. The game's progress is through turns and you can take your time concider what you going to build or where you want to move your army, worker, great person etc at your turn. There are a lot of mods that has different civilization etc.It is different from other strategy games because the map has blocks as you can call them which you can settle to or build farm, moving your army, worker etc.Only singleplayer mode takes your time very much because you would want to win the game with every victory conditions, civilizations or difficulties if you are a person who wants to finish a game %100 like me.If you don't want to unlock all the achivements or anything like that there are so many scenarios that you can play which are historical events like Vikings trying to take over England or Europeans settling at America which are pretty fun too in my opinion.I can't really recommend the multiplayer of the game because the game's progress is through turns and you will need to wait for your opponents finishing their turns which can be boring and not fun anymore. But I can definitely recommend the singleplayer itself because there are so many things to do with it.I mean I played like 1 or 2 hours of multiplayer and other play hours are just from singleplayer itself and I got %27 of the achivements. It's because the game itself is very addicting and fun that takes so long becuase YOU NEED TO PLAY FOR ONE MORE TURN!

PS:Don't trust Gandhi...

Sid Meier's Civilization V is basically a history simulator. You start in 4000 BC and go all the way till 2000+ AD. Some factors are random, like geographical location, neighbors, or the planet’s terrain - but the way that history plays out mimics our own in a lot of ways.

1. Strategic resources.

For example, some units require strategic resources to make them. Every few eras 2 new strategic resources are shown on the map. The first 2 are iron and horses.

Let’s take a real life scenario – the Native Americans. It is suggested that the New World had all horses extinct. Age of Empires 2 for example, tries to emphasize on that by not giving any cavalry units to native americans in their games. In the case of Civ V, that is not the case. Instead whether you will have cavalry units or not will depend on whether you have horses.

Civs don’t really have any negative traits. Take Age of Empires 2's native americans for example – in that game, the completely lacked any cavalry units. Like I said earlier, that is not the case here. Pretty much every Civ is identical, except that at certain eras some will perform better than the rest. The closest negative trait in a Civ is Venice, who cannot conquer cities, but apart from that they are identical.

2. Prosperous cities.

Food is another key mechanic in this game. How fast your city will grow and when it will stop growing will depend on it.

Once again, game tries to mirror real life. Putting a city in a desert isn't recommended, but if you are going to do it, then at least find some sources of water (rivers, oasis) or build a city next to a coast. Fresh water helps with farms, while coastal cities have access to fish. That's why cities like Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Cairo are located where they are right now.

Before starting the game, you can customize some aspects of the world. Like for example, you can set an age of the world. If it’s young, there will be a lot of mountains and hills, if it’s old, the terrain will be mostly plain. You can also customize the sea level, climate, rainfall, amount of resources in the world – all of which would affect the terrain of the planet is some way.

3. To war or not to war.

Every time i declare war on someone, i am always left amazed with how similar my motives were to those of the leaders, a few thousand years ago.

For example:

I waged war because of the neighboring missionaries spreading their religion to my cities.

I waged war because my neighbor happened to put his city on a very juicy piece of land that i desired.

I waged war with Civs that had weak military. Often i would even join other Civs that are fighting one Civ, to get some land during the peace treaty.

Also, more often than not, rather than making alliances with your neighbors, most likely you will wage war with them. Historically, it's pretty accurate. Pretty much every bordering Civ will have at least 1 war with you.

By the way, some Civs are more aggressive than others. If you meet mongols, russians, vikings, huns, romans etc. - expect war very early.

4. Brave New World - World Congress.

In BNW, they hugely improved how diplomatic and cultural victory work. For example, when it comes to diplomacy, they created World Congress. Every few turns, 2 Civs will make a 2 certain proposals. Each civ gets a certain amount of delegates that it can send to vote for or against that proposal. The dilemma here is that each Civ has to choose between the 2 proposals – will it vote all its delegates into one of the proposals, or a bit into each of them? The amount of delegates is mostly dependent on how many city state allies you have.

Now, it doesn’t mean that you are peaceful guy just because you are going the diplomatic route. In Civ they try to intertwine all types of victories. For example, there is a proposal that can:
  • Ban all nuclear weapons.
  • Or you can ban a certain luxury resources, so that it won’t give any happiness. Once happiness goes into a negative figure, rebellions will start to appear.
  • You can increase the costs of unit maintenance, which can economically affect the Civ that relies too much on military.
  • You can embargo a Civ, so that it won’t be able to make trade routes with other Civs. That also can economically shutter a Civ.

The drawback of all that is that it is applied globally. That means you cannot build nuclear weapons, get happiness from the resource you banned, your military maintenance will increase too, and neither will you be able to trade with the Civ that was embargoed.

5. Brave New World - Ideologies and Tourism.

They also created Tourism and Ideologies in BNW, which affect the cultural victory. Basically, since turn 1, you are accumulating a certain amount of culture per turn. Tourism is basically anti culture - you can get +2 Tourism by creating a great work with either Great Artist, Great Writer or Great Musician. But those start appearing only by the Medieval Era (3rd out of 8 eras).

Basically, the point of tourism is to accumulate more tourism than other Civ's accumulated culture. The catch is, tourism accumulates pretty slowly early on, so the gap between culture and tourism is pretty big.

Once your tourism becomes 100% of other Civ's culture - that Civ will start experiencing negative effects huge decrease in happiness. All of that will worsen, the further the tourism:culture ratio will get. Once it reaches 200% - you simply culturally control that Civ. It cannot go to war against you, since their people are so affected by your tourism.

At some point in the game, you can also choose an Ideology. There are 3 ideologies - they resemble Capitalism, Communism and Fascism respectively. Basically, we sort of had that before in previous games, they were part of the culture policies and you were able only to choose one. It's the same here, but tourism plays a role here. Basically, the tourism to culture ratio is what determines whether your people like your ideology or not. Also, ideologies will greatly change how Civs will treat you - if you are of the same ideology, they will most likely try to be allies with you, and the opposite in other cases.

6. Conclusion.

Civ V is a fairly simple 4X game. But it's very good at mirroring our history. All the mechanics in Civ games are pretty much copied from our own history and that's partly why Beyond Earth doesn't work.

The beauty of civ is that it’s not for you to decide where you will start out, or whether you will have that strategic resource or not. It's that sheer randomness that makes us love the game. At the same time, you always can relate to the situation.

The soundtrack also does a magnificent job of keeping you glued to the screen.

I highly suggest you to get both expansions if you going to play this - Gods & Kings and Brave New World.

ps: Finally, remember that all Civs are competing for one thing. Only one of you can win the game. Remember that. No matter how good your relationships are, you are gonna turn on each other.

Tuto hru bych doporučil milovníkům strategických her.

+ Vzhledem k grafice a hratelnosti nízké HW požadavky

Každá rasa má svůj bonus napříkladspeciální jednotky jízdy později letadla a tanky no prostě všechno.

First of all, you should definitely buy the Complete Edition of Civilization V to fully enjoy the game!

The game has great graphics, many improvements compared to previous Civilization games, but unfortunately it lacks some stuff that I miss, like the Palace and Throne Room . Fortunately, they can be brought back via mods :D

I have always loved Civilization V's motto: "Wait! Just... one... more... turn..." I can confirm you that it's true haha, I always play a few more turns after I beat the game :)

All in all, it's an extraordinary game and I give it a solid 10 out of 10!

Civilization V: Complete Edition is an excellent 4X strategy game developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games. The base game was released in September 2010. As a new fan to the Civilization series I was hesitant prior to purchasing this game but having done so, I adore this game. The idea is you build your nation with buildings, build military, conduct diplomacy with other nation states to provide advantage, and research technologies to improve your capabilities. Excitement surrounds this game because as the game progresses the landscape alters, as a nation that is strong early game may be weak in the late game. This review will discuss the gameplay mechanics in regards to strategy and the notable features within the complete edition.

I found it fairly easy to learn the basics of Civilization V, however the difficult aspect was the strategy to building your empire. The overall theme is strategy and positioning. For instance, all 43 nations have a different unique ability, unit, and building. Germany's unique abilities is that it can destroy barbarian encampments with a 67% chance that they join your nation. This strategic component allows you to play each nation as you see fit because if you want to play as a strong economy you can, if you want to be an aggressive militaristic nation you can. All actions such as building a unit or building or moving your unit has consequences. For example, a monument can provide a culture boost but cost one gold per turn to maintain. A unit on a hill can defend better than on flat terrain, and sending your melee units to attack a city can have disastrous outcomes. Therefore, strategy is crucial and I love the strategy and positioning theme within this game because it does not matter if the enemy has six units compared to your two, you use strategy to win. Furthermore, the game is not overly complex and I can testify because as a new player to the Civ series I understood the basics of the game within a few hours and this is because of the easy, simple, and user-friendly interface. The interface does not overload you with information, instead provides the most important information on the screen and all other information through buttons on the top right of the screen. Lastly, the map is split into hexagon tiles. You form cities on tiles and through cities produce workers. These workers build on tiles connected to your nation which they can build quarries, mines, farms, and so forth that contribute to your resource intake that I will mention in a moment and your overall productivity and growth of individual cities.

The game incorporates an abundance of features. As said above, the game utilises research and diplomacy. Research is straight-forward as the more you research the quicker you progress into the following era. You open the research screen and research a technology. Each technology has up to five unlock options, for instance, iron working can unlock swordsman and other things. Researching technologies require science that can be gained through diplomacy with other nations, trade and buildings. Diplomacy allows you to talk with another nation or city state which means you can trade resources, exchange embassies, become friends, and so forth - there are a ton of various options. Speaking of city states, these are independent small political entities that can provide benefits to your nation in return for gifts or protecting them, basically helping them. Resources play an important role in Civ V because strategic resources help your nation build things that require those resources and luxury resources increase your happiness and trade opportunities, which both are significant in the growth of your nation. For instance, building a quarry on a marble tile allows you consume one marble which helps improve your happiness. Similarly, if you build a mine on an iron tile it allows you to build things like swordsman, which otherwise could not be built without it. Resources are important because they allow your economy to function by building things that require a particular resource. Furthermore, happiness is pivotal because the happier your nation is the more chance a golden age occurs, which is a boost in all productivity levels. If your nation is at minus ten happiness your cities revolt. Lastly, a social policy provides bonuses to your nation and social policies are split into different tiers that aim for different things. For instance, you can use a social policy to improve your military or your happiness and so forth, reflecting the strategic part of the game.

So two paragraphs of pure information and not much analysis. Well, all these features complement the other and add so much depth into the game. It is not a basic game, rather it's an easy to learn and depth game with tons of content. Nation placement changes with each game so there is always variety and lasting appeal within Civilization V. Another strategic element is within nation relations because I have been attacked countless times by enemy AI that I was friendly towards and it represents the saying of 'don't trust anyone'. In other words to summarise the 'circle' of features, all features are balanced and make for an extremely enjoyable experience because it all depends on the strengths of your nation. For instance, if I am Rome, I would research a social policy that improves my productivity and trade and research technologies that accompany this stance like a market.

And to finish it off, the multiplayer portion of the game is very stable and extremely fun.

Civilization V: Complete Edition is a phenomenal game. I love the features, the gameplay, the map, and just the core mechanics complement the nature of the game. It promotes strategy through the strengths of a nation and your actions within the game depend on a variety of factors such as city and terrain, military and growth. The game features an abundance of nations to decide from, meaning the game has lasting appeal. Firaxis have really nailed down the core game and reinforced the factor you are running a nation to how you want to run it, but the idea is you must conquer the world in some way or form. I highly recommend this game.

6 years after release, Civ 5 remains one of my favourite games. The graphics are still on point and the amount of content in the game is astounding.

Recommended as a game to sit down and play for half of the entire day.

If your looking for a review on this game you've come to the wrong place, but if your looking for an outstanding pie recipe you've come to the right place.

Ingredients:
1. 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
2. 1/2 cup white sugar
3. 1/2 cup brown sugar
4. 1/4 cup water
5. 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
6. 1 pinch salt
7. 5 apples - peeled, cored and sliced
8. 1 pastry for double-crust pie

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
2. Combine butter, white sugar, brown sugar, water, cinnamon, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and set aside.
3. Roll out half the pastry to fit a 9-inch pie plate. Place bottom crust in pie plate; pour in apple slices.
4. Roll out top crust into a 10-inch circle. Cut into 8 (1-inch) wide strips with a sharp paring knife or pastry wheel. Weave the pastry strips, one at a time, into a lattice pattern. Fold the ends of the lattice strips under the edge of the bottom crust and crimp to seal.
5. Pour butter-sugar mixture over top of pie, coating the lattice, and allowing any remaining sauce to drizzle through the crust.
6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), and bake until the crust is golden brown, the caramel on the top crust is set, and the apple filling is bubbling, 35 to 40 more minutes. Allow to cool completely before slicing.
