Alright..so here it goes..
I want to give this game a salty review. I want to. But having completed it..it's one of the best games I've ever completed in my life. This must have made PC game history when it came out. It's beautiful. It's awesome. It's..it's...IT's HARD AS ♥♥♥♥. I found myself making atleast 200 saves in different places because I wanted to save without certain enemies, or with certain amounts of health, or with certain weapon ammo or items, or just did'nt want to ♥♥♥♥ up. I probably have a gig in plain save data. This game is beyond hard, but just as it's hard, it's great.

Pros
-Video Game History
-Good Puzzles
-Nice sound effects
-Okay ending

Cons
-The final boss is a ♥♥♥♥.
-The final boss is a prick.
-Soldiers are problems in this game (Problems up the ♥♥♥)
-I hate this game, but it's SOOOOO good. (It's one of those games.

Overwatch/Ten

...AND THE FINAL BOSS IS A ♥♥♥♥!
He took two hours to beat.

Overall Verdict: Buy this game right now.

10/10 would get blown up by overcooked grenade again

Review in short:

I was very confident that I would not have a great time playing the game, as I thought it would not have enough story and I had read too many comments about the graphics, as well as hearing that apparently the 'silent protagonist' element was far too boring.

Apparently.

Reasons I love the game:
  • Great gameplay,
  • Game isn't dominated by need for good aim, a weak aimbot is implemented on normal and lower (you either love it or hate it),
  • AMAZING range of weapons,
  • Wonderful level design,
  • Graphics are actually tolerable, like Halo:CE
  • Great horror aspect,
  • DYNAMIC gameplay mechanics (HEV suit),
  • Good MVPS.
  • Black Mesa is alive. I blew up someones soup in the microwave by leaving it on too long.
  • I run like the wind. c:

There really isn't anything to hate the game for. I thought I was going to return it, turns out I was engrossed and hooked (heheh thanks crowbar) within ten minutes. If it isn't your cup of tea you can always return before two hours of gameplay. PLAY THE TRAINING MAP.

First off, yes I understand that I have 25 hours to play this game, yes, I know that shows what a complete failure I am at this game. But this game is a struggle and let me tell you why. It's from 1998. Most rational people play Half-Life: Source, but not me. No no, I play the original version, and experience hardships like getting stuck under the map, getting stuck in walls, in getting stuck in objects. At one point, I saved, unknowingly trapped in a wall. Had to backtrack pretty far.

Anyone who was in a voice call with me could hear the physical pain from me whenever I played this game. Friends literally asked if I needed mental help. I think I do, because of this damn game. Just looking at this game gives me literal chest pains, and makes me sick. It's so painful.

Although the story is amazing, the pain that comes with this game does not make up for it. Unless you're a god damn masochist, stay away from this demon spawn of a game. Play Half-Life: Source instead, or better yet, Amazing World. At least that game doesn't give you cancer.

Half Life, one of the many games that "changed the game". However, no game innovated it's genre as much as Half Life. Before 1998, fps games didn't have any story, instead you simply blasted through levels to beat the game. Half Life added a story, with talking characters and all the parts of a storyline you heard in that crappy English class. Then Half Life starred a huge modding community, which produced some of Valve's biggest franchises, not to mention started up some other popular developers. After all of this, Half Life 2 came out and became the new star.

Overall Half Life is great, and I recommend it for everyone to try.

P.S: Notice how I didn't recommend Half Life: Source? Yeah don't get that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ port.

The success of this game started it all for Valve. Team Fortress, Counter-Strike and countless amounts of other mods. It had become a hallmark of FPS quality for many years to come until Half-Life 2 came out to raise the bar even higher. This legendary status helps to alleviate the ravages of time the graphics have suffered. But, as any Counter-Strike player will tell you, it is not that bad considering the age of the game, it's still approachable for younger players. The game's design is very variable and interactive, which cannot be said about a myriad of modern shooters. The remarkable sound and authentic music will help to create a memorable, mysterious, sci-fi atmosphere. Xen, being the most criticized part of the game, seemed quite enjoyable to me. It offers a much needed diversion from the rest of the game, most of which takes place in steel corridors. This game represents a milestone, thanks to which a series of events lead to the creation of our beloved Steam. Praise be Half-Life, the Almighty! :)

What to say about Half Life.....

Okay, let me say that I originally bought the game\'s Game of the Year edition(included Team Fortress Classic) back in...... what? \'98? Early \'99 maybe? Anyway...... The hours you see logged for this game under Steam are WAY off. I didn\'t make the switch from WON to Steam until it was forced on us in 2004.

What to say about the game itself.... put simply; it\'s AMAZING! When I saw the initial opening scenes..... I was blown away.

16 years later, I\'m still playing it, and I still find it a bit of a challenge.

Half Life re-defined the FPS genre, and in such a positive way, it is still selling. It can be argued that the graphics are dated, and perhapse they are. Personally, I don\'t think so. I think they are as much a part of the game as the abilities you get as Gordon Freeman.

Half Life won over 50 Game of the Year awards, and rightly so. If you enjoy FPS games, and this game isn\'t in your collection..... GET IT! It has a great blend of action, stuff to destroy, things to make you think, and lots of hidden Easter Eggs.

Half Life 1 is my favorite in the series, it's where it all started and I just love how immersive the game can be. The story as well is quite good and I just appreciate how the game does not take away control from you. Pick this up if you haven't played it, it's a must buy for PC intiates. Do not buy Half Life Source because that version is borked beyond recognition at this point.
