  • Opprinnelig musikk.
  • Massiv etterfølger: Det originale Portal ble utnevnt til Årets Spill i 2007 av over 30 publikasjoner over hele verden.
  • Redigeringsverktøy: Redigeringsverktøy for Portal 2 vil være inkludert.

>The bionic voice of the narrator is amazing
>Nice physics elements
>Good changing soundtrack
>Funny language
>From the first person view the portal gun looks like a robot arm which is kinda’ cool
>Much better graphics than Portal 1, adding some green colour in these dully science laboratories
>Includes tri-levelled testing chambers which is mind challenging.
>Fixed bug form Portal 1 where sentries could trigger when they saw you behind a glass wall.

>It’s pretty hard to focus both on the story and solving the tests.

Portal 2 is a first-person puzzle game developed and published by Valve and released in April 2011. Portal 2 incorporates a campaign that allows you to solve challenging puzzles while treating you to a strong and simple storyline. This review will discuss the campaign, the voice acting, dialogue, and the co-op feature.

Portal 2 features a quality campaign that emphasises creativity through overcoming puzzles and excels in superb voice acting that includes funny humour. You begin the campaign as Chell, a female character holding a portal gun. Chell completes tests using her portal gun while being monitored by AI computer system Glados, voiced by Ellen McLain. Chell completes these tests while listening to Wheatley, a programming core that is voiced by Stephen Merchant, in which he wants to escape the facility. The puzzles are diverse and I do not grasp the notion they are repetitive. They do in fact become more difficult as the game progresses which is due to new things being added to each level that add a new layer of complexity. For instance, some levels feature turrets that can spray bullets at you, which you must destroy before advancing. Portal 2 has a really good ending that ends the story with an amazing final mission that mixes both emotion and intensity. Furthermore, the ending smoothly transitions into the credits that completely alter the atmosphere into a beautiful light hearted finale, complete with a song sung by Glados. Briefly, the single player experience does have some annoying glitches with freezing when pressing R for the feedback prompt and frequent crashing via alt tabbing. These two issues had minimal impact on my experience of the game.

The dialogue enhances the single player component by incorporating witty humour with dialogue that provides excellent characterisation to the characters. For instance, events showcase characters change of heart and provide some emotion to their robot personalities. This creates a juxtaposition of humans and robots because the game reveals human traits of emotion, self-interest for personal gain, and relationships with other individuals within Glados and Wheatley, both whom are robots. The voice acting in Portal 2 complement the strong dialogue because individually, Stephen Merchant delivers a memorable and excellent performance for Wheatley by striking different voice tones that match different situations within the game. Meanwhile, Ellen McLain provides a good voice line to showcase the personality and character of Glados. The dialogue and voice acting immediately created a sense of whose a protagonist and antagonist in the simple story of hero vs. villain.

The co-op element of Portal 2 provides more levels to lengthen the game. These levels add some exciting fresh dynamics to each level because you have to cooperate with your team mate and depend on the other to complete levels. For instance, I had to stand on a button while my friend flew to the other side of the window to retrieve the block in order to complete the level.

Portal 2 is a good and challenging puzzle game that emphasises creativity and excels in the simplicity of telling a story. The story nicely builds to an excellent climax that feels like a satisfying conclusion to the game. The game features beautiful voice acting and some exceptional performances from Merchant and McLain and strongly delivers in the quality of the dialogue. I am new to the puzzle genre so playing Portal 2 felt fresh and different. There are some issues outlined above in the game, but nothing that detracts from the overall experience. At $19.99, I recommend it.

Rating: 8.5/10

- The simple story that ends with an excellent climax.
- Excellent voice acting.
- Very good dialogue.
- The challenging and increasingly complex puzzles.
- Length.

- Annoying glitches with the R feedback prompt in single player and frequent crashes via alt tabbing.

Video Game Review: Portal 2

Genre: Puzzle
Player modes: Singleplayer, Co-op
View: First-person (third-person omnicient in additional level editor)

Content: 29/30
Introduction/Tutorial: 5/5
A short introduction, which perfectly blends in with the plot, instructs the player on the basic movements and introduces the game's characteristics for a first impression.
Plot: 5/5
The very original plot continues the Portal series' storyline and surprises with dramatic twists.
Duration: 5/5
In comparison to its predecessor, Portal 2 exploits it's full potential with just enough variety in elements and plot to extend the singleplayer and co-op campaigns to an enjoyable duration.
Characters: 5/5
The few yet very important and influentual characters present brilliant dialogues and characteristics. It is notable that the player gets to empathize strongly with entirely robotic characters, which are able to express their emotions in great variety and passion.
Difficulty: 4/5
The puzzles (which are creatively presented as "test chambers") slowly gain difficulty and new elements during both the singleplayer and the co-op campaigns up to a point where the player is required to recall all of those element's functions and figure out the test chamber's structures. The difficulty of the singleplayer campaign has a slightly lesser increase than expected, in return for adding more dramatic sequences.
Menu: 5/5
The menu is clearly structured as well as easy to use and to orientate within. It is presented in an appealing design that matches perfectly to the game's theme.

Gameplay: 15/15
Controls: 5/5
The controls are as simple and standart as they need be and entirely customizable in the menu's options.
Mechanics: 5/5
The physical properties of the player and the objects in the game are realistic and the facility's techniqual equipment moves in an interesting and futuristic manner.
HUD: 5/5
The HUD interface is kept very simple and presents all necessary information as minimalistic as possible. It is set well not to distract the player and to let him concentrate on solving the test chambers.

Design: 20/20
Style: 5/5
Every piece of the game's environment and elements holds to another in an astonishing and unique way. The style of the facility and the shape of each object represent futuristic technology and create a breathtaking impression of scientific accomplishments.
Colors: 5/5
The facility's color scheme is set in simple grey tones, concentrating the accents on the vital elements that are connected to emotions, such as the individual characters and the natural environment of the past.
Textures: 5/5
The textures used in Portal 2 show an impressive development in comparison to other video games that use the Source engine, driving out its full potential and ensuring the fantastic experience of enjoying the game.
Fonts: 5/5
The fonts used for the title, menu, and various textures appear as both appealing and serious, reflecting the sincerity of solving important tests for scientific experiments. They are easy to read and kept in appreciable sizes in most cases. Sequences that present an older part of the facility include posters with more lively, curved fonts that remind of the central 20th century.

Graphics: 13/15
Resolution: 5/5
The choices of resolution available in the menu's options include a satisfying maximum resolution of 1980 x 1080 in high definition, which shows a good example for a video game released in 2012.
Quality: 4/5
The visuals present high quality as well as brilliant shading and lighting in most cases. The setting can fall into deep, vision-restricting darkness at few situations.
Performance: 4/5
The game usually runs smoothly and without complications. The performance can be optimized at will. Occasionally, the game may crash and return to the desktop during the introduction, which has been the case for me several times. I could easily fix the matter by uninstalling and reinstalling the game without losing any save data, but I couldn't figure out the explanation behind the crashes yet.

Audio: 19/20
Soundtrack: 5/5
The artists on the soundtrack, especially Mike Morasky and Jonathan Coulton, have done an excellent job at accompanying the intesity and depth of the game's plot and visuals with a great amount of epic, unique and inspiring tracks, using an uncommon and perfectly matching genre of music. The instruments and melodies can represent both harmony and disorder individually and usually even seem to interact with the game's environment.
Voice Acting: 5/5
The fantastically entertaining and usually humorous dialogues and monologues are performed very lively and inspiring. Each voice actor has shown their full potential and let their character develop and express their emotions movingly enough to remember them well.
Effects: 5/5
The game presents a great variety of sound effects that exceeds the ones of previous games that use the Sources engine, including many individual effects for the technical equipment of the facility. They support the game's very realistic impression.
Subtitles: 4/5
The subtitles function that is available in the menu's options generally matches the game's style well and show the full dialogue and monologue parts. However, it tends to fill a larger part of the screen when the spoken sequence is notably longer than an average sequence.

Conclusion: 96/100
Overall Score: 10/10
