Informazioni sul gioco

Kate Walker, a young ambitious lawyer from New York, is handed what seems a fairly straight forward assignment - a quick stopover to handle the sale of an old automaton factory hidden in the alpine valleys, then straight back home to the US.

Little did she imagine when embarking on this task that her life would be turned upside down. On her expedition across Europe, traveling from Western Europe to the far reaches of Eastern Russia, she encounters a host of incredible characters and locations in her attempt to track down Hans, the genius inventor - the final key to unlock the mystery of Syberia. Her voyage across land and time throws all she values into question, while the deal she sets out to sign turns into a pact with destiny.

Have to hunt down patches to get this game working because devs are too lazy to put them into the steam version.

Just.. Wow.

Really Really REALLY Enjoyed this game, To me the gameplay & long rows of story/text & Dialogue, Reminded strongly of 'The Longest Journey', And the "Graphics" of the scenery reeks of Final Fantasy 7 (Original).

The "Puzzle" stuff was straightforward, Nothing weird like "Glue a frog to a stick to reach the other side of a river" sort of thing.

The story is really good, And the game is relaxing. Only one bad thing about it is .. well.. I HATE STAIRS!, And you will too, After playing this.

There is just one resolution setting tho, But i'm not bothred by it. It's an fairly old game, And it is expected. (Mind, Tabing out of the game might cause it to glitch-up, So always save before tabbing out. The steam-overlay works just fine. Sure a chatbox takes up the whole screen, But it's whatever.

10/10 in my opinion (if you forget about the thing about the stairs).

Graphics did not age well - but I say "looks beyond this" and give it a shot.
Very interesting setting and PTC puzzles.

If you can, play it in French as the game is Designed by Benoît Sokal, a Belgian comic artist and video game developer.

A very charming point and click adventure game. You play as Kate Walker, an American lawyer who is assigned to take care of a takeover of an old toy factory after its owner died. You find out that the owner's brother is alive and you have to travel across Europe to find him. As you play more of the game you find out more about the brother (Hans). The game does a good job in building a mystery around him, so much that you want to keep playing. The puzzles are not too complicated but I got stuck at some points (3 or 4 times, not alot compared to other adventure games).

The biggest con is that on Windows 10 it doesn't work out of the box without some compatibility settings like administrator mode and 8 bit color (a HUGE con if it really does play it in 8 bit color mode). I really wish they would fix this or release an HD version (they made it for the XBOX 360). The game was good enough for me to not care too much about the issues but still. Another con is that it is difficult to see the characters' faces because I have to play at a low resolution (cause of compatibility issues).

Issues: barebones graphics options and lacking PC-exclusive features. Uses pre-rendered backgrounds made at 800x600 resolution. Susceptible to graphics bugs, especially when alt+tabbing out of the game then back again.

Syberia is an amazing adventure game and one that you should really play if you're a fan of the genre. I picked this up on sale along with Syberia 2 for $3 and I have to say that this game is worth more than that; my 19 hours spent playing it has been one of the best experiences that I've ever had in gaming. The story is really good and it really caught my attention from the very beginning, keeping me glued to my seat just to see what happens next. There's an absolute charm to be found within the game and the developers' attention to detail in regards to the cast's dialogue and personalities really made the game shine. What astounded me was that this was a self-published indie title made back in the year 2002! The graphics, animations, and sound all point to a title released by a big name publisher so it was kind of surprising for me to see that this game was made at a time when indies were still in their infancy.

The story follows Kate Walker: an American lawyer who was sent by her firm to the French town of Valadilene to settle a huge deal. She was tasked with obtaining the signature of one Anna Voralberg in order to complete an American company's takeover of the once renowned Voralberg factory: makers of world-class automatons. The problem is, Anna Voralberg has been dead for a couple of days before Kate arrived and she is now forced to stay and find a supposed heir, leading her to a quest to find a man known as Hans Voralberg.

Syberia is quite simple in terms of gameplay. It's your standard point-and-click with puzzle solving and detective elements; it has nothing groundbreaking to offer and its main draw lies in its simplicity. Unlike its peers, the game is pretty straightforward and you won't get lost and have problems on where to go next or what puzzles to solve, despite having some very expansive areas. Difficulty-wise, the puzzles range from mundane to having the right amount of challenge and since the game incorporates elements of steampunk, expect some weird and cooky contraptions to tinker with. The protagonist even has a satellite phone which she uses a number of times to talk to her mom and friends back home and gain information that she couldn't access in such a remote place. The phone is her only link to the outside world and it's interesting to see that she uses it less and less as the player progresses since she becomes more independent and more curious. Throughout the levels, there are optional documents which can be discovered that provide detailed insights on the world and its inhabitants. Some contain clues on how puzzles can be solved and most of them are just great reads that flesh out the story. My only gripe with the game is that backtracking is so excessive. Puzzles that could have been solved by player intuition is held back by dialogue checks and the need to show puzzle pieces bit by bit because of story reasons. There's even a section in the game where you have to go back and forth between two characters that are a minute away - in real time - from each other for at least 3 times because one is too secretive and you have to persuade the other to spill the beans. Just a minor gripe and you'll get used to it somehow but i hope I hope that I'll never tread the same path again in the sequel.

And there you have it.

One of the absolute best classical Point-and-Click games. It still holds up due to the graphics and sound and it works with both Mac and PC.

Positive

+ The story of the game is one of a kind
+ The puzzles are logical
+ Wonderful main characters

Out of all P&C-games this is one of my absolute favourites, right up there with Broken Sword.

Grandissima avventura grafica vintage!

Un must![/][/b]

All'inizio si fatica a capirlo.
