3.2.0 Patch

Hi everyone! We’ve been busy the past few months preparing for Screencheat for PS4 and Xbox One (which comes out on March 1st, by the way), but that doesn’t meant we haven’t been working on the Steam version too! We have a load of improvements for you guys, the biggest addition being full text localisation for Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean! We hope that everything in this update improves the experience for you guys, and thanks again for your continued support!

  • Added full text localisation for Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean
  • Made bots better with Hobby Horse and Bear Bomb
  • Updated old assets in Garden
  • Added Ivy asset to Temple to help diversify the sides of the green path
  • Re-arranged paintings on Manor to help distinguish vague areas
  • Increased the resolution of some level textures

  • As a result of the new shader lighting quality and resolution has been improved slightly on all maps
  • Trappeur bolts now have a small amount of vertical velocity when fired to give them a slightly parabolic path
  • Added coloured lightning effect to Trappeur’s laser
  • Improved Trappeurs bending to clip through walls less
  • Changed wall_Hacker laser sight to be a dotted line to help distinguish it as non-lethal
  • Tweaked godrays to improve CPU performance
  • Allow re-binding secondary text-chat key in keybinding menu
  • Improvements to AI movement, especially while jumping or using jump pads
  • Significantly improved static UI efficiency for better performance
  • Improvements to Australian Edition mutator

Fixes
  • Fix GUI resizing issues after join mid-game transition
  • Don’t increase player win count for tie games
  • Fix “1 second to respawn” being stuck on screen when a player is Eliminated
  • Fix mutators resetting when returning to lobby
  • Fix bots sometimes not replacing a user when they leave in a lobby with bots fill slots enabled
  • Fix UI overlay issue when confirming weapon skins
  • Fixed exposed back faces on Helix Railing and minor mesh seams
  • Removed many tiny seams on many maps
  • Fix not being able to confirm control scheme in-game
  • Ragdoll/skin unlock message in lobby will now update when language is changed
  • Fixed Ascension Time Trial AI spawns to stop them spawning on top of the player
  • End-game UI will update for the new host when the host changes
  • Scoreboard screen now deals with players leaving
  • Fix winner camera when players leave at the end-game screen
  • Fix bug with Patience achievement
  • Fix bug with Sky Captain achievement
  • Bomb Assault stability fixes
  • Fix loads of small animation bugs with some weapons
  • Fix UI sound inconsistencies
  • Fixed an exploit when picking up a pinata/bomb whilst charging with a charge weapon
  • Fix friendly fire option not saving correctly
  • Fix text entry not working in Steam Big Picture
  • Remove slow-mo effect on suicides when slow-mo kills mutator enabled
  • Crossbow bolts will now clear themselves
  • Fix charge weapons interacting poorly with objective pickups
  • Reset player’s crosshair when they die in Murder Mystery and lose their gun

Known Issues
  • Some players may have issues connecting a mix of X-Input and Direct Input controllers
  • Due to an engine bug, increasing graphics quality from very low/low will crash the game on Windows. Upon re-launching the game, the graphics quality will be updated correctly. We will patch this as soon as Unity release a fix.
  • Creating and leaving a LAN room may prevent players from being able to create or join LAN or online games until they close and re-open the game
Thanks for your help reporting and tracking these problems down. Happy screencheating!

Much Love,
Samurai Punk

“Easy going in tone but frantic and stressful by nature, Screencheat seizes on a single novel idea and builds an enjoyable couch shooter around it.”

“Glancing at someone else’s screen and knowing exactly where they are would be nigh-on impossible in most shooters, but Samurai Punk combats this through some smart level design.”

About This Game

Screencheat is the ridiculous split-screen shooter where everyone is invisible so you have to “screencheat” (Screencheat - verb: to look at your opponent’s screens. “Stop screencheating you cheater!”). Master a wide variety of one-hit kill weapons including a blunderbuss, a car engine that shoots bouncing plasma balls and a teddy bear loaded with explosives. Train your skills in the solo time trials then engage in fast and frantic combat with up to eight players locally on the couch or online. With colourful maps, unique modes and a huge number of customisation options including wacky mutators, Screencheat is the ultimate party FPS.

Ranging from the dependable Blunderbuss to the heroic Hobby Horse to the completely crazy Chefolet; a car engine that fires ricocheting energy balls, all are designed to deliver deadly satisfaction. Each weapon comes with its own unique advantages and disadvantages, encouraging wildly different play styles. These include not only the way a weapon shoots but also the 'tells' the weapon leaves such as the smoke from the blunderbuss or the trail of fire behind the Hobby Horse.

From traditional favourites such as Deathmatch to the completely unique Murder Mystery that challenges you to find and frag your specific target with a specific weapon. Play in teams or all against all. Challenge up to seven of your mates on the couch or online or a combination of both, the game is always split screen whether you are on or offline. When your friends aren't around, train your skills and learn the maps in the solo time trials or play against AI bots.

In the spirit of the best arena shooters you’ll spend time traversing 11 maps via air vents and trampolines until you’ve acquired your target and fragged them accordingly. Each map is designed with colour-coded areas as well as plentiful landmarks such as statues, paintings and furniture that allow you to quickly locate other players without being able to actually see them.

Inspired by games like Towerfall we've provided players with a highly granular level of customisation to play the game the way they want to. Choose which weapons you'll allow, how and when they can be swapped or reloaded, apply time limits, adjust the victory conditions, penalties and more. To really mix it up stack on some Mutators such as slow mode, low gravity or flappy jump.

Remember the days of looking at your opponent's screen to find their location in Goldeneye, Halo, or any of the other countless local FPS multiplayer games? They would probably notice it and yell at you. Screencheat supports such trickery - in fact, you'll need it to shoot down the other invisible players. One might be surprised to find that Screencheat has online play for those who lost all of their friends from screen-cheating during the N64 days.

Great game! Reminds me of the days of playing Goldeneye 64 and getting killed by screen cheaters with Oddjob. Despite those losses I find this game to have an excellent concept, and cannot wait to see where the developers take this game.

Personally I really enjoy this game - even though I'm not very good at it. It is a shame that i can never find people in lobbies and I always end up playing with bots because I would like to play against some human players as well.

At first I was thought this game was gonna be fun. I was wrong, it's REALLY fun. It's worth well over 15 dollars and I think the trick-shotting potential is amazing. The maps are fun and unique, the weapons are balanced (Except the wall_hacker... bots are too good with that thing), and it's perfect for a family game night or any other gathering of that sort!

In short, game of the year. (Sponsor me ScreenCheat)

All of the ages of split-screen gaming have had one issue. Screen-cheating. It ruined friendships, and even killed some people. It was the worst. Until now.

Welcome to Screencheat! The game where you NEED to screencheat to win! The game is where you have many game modes to play (I think there are about 10ish) and everyone is invisible. You get to see everyone else’s screen on yours, so that you can shoot into nothing and hopefully hit someone.

In this game, there are many maps that are color coded and have very unique pictures to help you find out where the person is and shoot them. This game has local co-op and full controller support. It is really fun as a party game and I enjoyed it a lot. Let’s go into some pros and cons.

Pros
-Full Controller Support
-Really Fun Concept
-Hours of Playtime
-Tons of Unlockable Content
-Fun Party Game
-Offline Play With Bots
-Up to 9 Players
-Cross Platform Multiplayer
-Tons of Game Mods

Cons
-Really Hard at Sometimes
-Somewhat Crappy Animations/Graphics

Overall, this game is a really fun game to play alone or with friends and it has a fairly cheap price weighing in at 15 dollars. I recommend you get this game now (or wait for it to go on sale for 7.50).

Do you miss playing Goldeneye 64? Screencheat is like a love letter back to the split screen multiplayer mayhem of the 90's. If you have some friends to play with, there can be worse ways to spend an hour or two!

As far as the gameplay, there are some pretty creative levels with a lot of color areas to help you to track down the other enemies, so it's not entirely chaotic, and there is a lot of skill in figuring out where to go and where to hit. Usually people will have a fire effect if they shot first, allowing you to aim at them on your screen. The weapons tend to spread wide to make getting a kill easier.

Still, great fun with a lot of laughs, feel free to watch my wife and I play it for the first time below!

Screencheat puts a fun and intense spin on typical Competitive-Multiplayer FPS games by taking away a main element of typical FPS games and intensifying the use of another people rarely use efficiently. In this game, everyone is invisible, and it is really difficult to find them other than what the game title suggests you to do: Screen cheat, that being, looking at other players screens to determine where they are. Now by the sound of this it seems very difficult, but the intensely colorful environments and uinique areas of the maps make this far easy than as if this mechanic was in another game.

On top of this unique mechanic the developers make the game revolve around, the variety of gamemodes and customization are what make this game so much fun. From the classic deathmatch to capturing and running around with a pinata, playing this game with others is a true party (especially with 8 people at once!). Also, the customization, mutators, and silly announcers are sure to get a laugh out of you.

When I statrted out playing this game I had a hard time trying to kill ONE guy, let alone the other 3 at once (I started playing this right as soon as the game got out of Beta). Despite me failing hard at this game it was difficult to stay mad because the style of this game is just too damn funny. Instead of throwing my controller across the room I was too busy rolling around on the floor laughing. Of course eventually I got way too good at it and now people avoid me when I try to play, but that's another story.

So to sum it up: Screencheat is a funny spin on typical FPS multiplayer games that is sure to give you a good time with friends and just about anyone online.

Screencheat is the most unique game I've played in quite some time. FPS gaming with a controversial thing in splitscreen gaming: screenpeeking, or screencheating! All player's screens will be displayed on all player's screens, basically meaning everyone can see everyone. The map is color coordinated, and everybody is invisible, so in order to find your foes, you must look at your screen and see what color they are close to, then go to that same location and shoot where there body should be. It's a blast.
