Genre: RPG/Open world

I know that the multiplayer is practically dead, but I still wanted to review this game because of the awesome memories I have, since this is the game I've played most in my life and it's one of my favorite games.

Review for people who are familiar with Souls franchise, comparison with the first part

I must say that aside from multiplayer and maybe gameplay, first part of the series is better in every aspect of the game. However this is still a great game. Gameplay is smoother, but I am not sure if it's better. It's just feels smoother. There are no instant backstabs anymore. Bosses are not that memorable, 4 big bosses are pretty disappointing, lore is pretty boring, whole atmosphere is so friendly totally opposite of the first part of the game, since there are NPCs everywhere, and areas are kinda not that gloomy. I kinda prefered the gloomy atmosphere of the first game, and that feeling of loneliness. DLCs are pretty good however. As for multipalyer, well I think it's way better(at least it was when people played it), since there is no instant backstab anymore, so people are not fishing for backstabs that much, however many weapons are/were broken. I really had a good time with a mutliplayer of this game, where I spent over 500 hours just playing multiplayer in one location of the game. Overall this game is pretty good, but not as memorable as the first game, a bit disappointing pve wise, but amazing pvp wise. In my opinion, Dark Souls 2 had best multiplayer ever, even though it was a bit broken.

Regular review

Dark Souls as a franchise is very unique. Many people who are thinking about buying this game, have probably heard stories about how Dark Souls is a brutal game. Well it is really hard at the beginning, but when you get used to the game, and when you get better armor and better weapons, it gets way easier.

So how the game works? Every time you die, you lose all your souls(Dark Souls money). If you go back to same location where you died you can collect your souls, but if you die again before collecting souls you will lose them forever. You can use those souls to level up and then upgrade stats, to buy stuff, etc. You can obtain souls by killing enemies, or collecting souls through items.

Now, enemies. You have normal enemies, and when you first start playing the game, you will realize that there are no trivial easy enemies. After a while you will get used to it. Aside from normal enemies there are bosses, and killing the boss in Dark Souls franchise is one of the most satisfying things you can do in gaming, since they tend to be really hard.

In this game you can play melee, you can cast magic or miracles, all depends on how you wish to play. Gameplay is pretty smooth in Dark Souls 2, kinda weird at the beginning, since it's littler slower than in other games, but it's amazing like in every Souls game. You need to worry about your equip load so you don't roll slowly or move slowly. There are bunch of weapon classes, and bunch of weapons. Swords, greatswords, ultra greatswords, axes, whips, shields, daggers, etc. Many miracles and sorceries too.

Multiplayer works like this. You can invade the world of other player with some special items, and there you can kill them while they are playing through game. You can play co-op with another two players, or phantoms. You can also post red sign on the floor and if someone calls you can duel with them. In invasion people usually don't play fair, they use enviroment, but in duels you play 1vs1. But that all depends on the player and on how he/she feels. Sometimes I played fair even in invasions, but sometimes I just wanted to have fun. In my opinion, Dark Souls 2 had best mutliplayer ever, even though it was a bit broken.

The only good thing about this game is that you can uninstall it.

Save your money and get DS1. Not even SotFS can save this abomination.
