So traveling deep into the world of D&D but ona computer, well this has to be played to believe! I am an avid "D&D" enthuiasit and all i can say is playing this has opened my eyes to what is plausable with modern times.

You can take on a whole party of your creation, or have the ingame characters join you, and with some of the characters backstories out of this world I cannot praise this enough.

Built back in the 90ies there are some general bugs and glitches that happends and you can say this is part of the added "charm" but then again when your playing it can cause the old fashioned rage quits! The path tracking is redicilous!

I must reccomend this to anyone who enjoys DND as its story line is tradition to a T. Anyone wanting to take a break from Final fantasy, or Try something new, prepare for an indepth world and a storyline like no other, unearth the mysterys that lie within.

Call this a prerequisit to divinity as that is only where you can head from here!

40 hours for a complete playthrough.

It's not as "enjoyable" as any modern RPG game (as Pillars of Eternity, for example) but totally enjoyable anyway :-)

Aside from the devs not honoring settings like not giving you max rolls on level up etc, it's decent. I'd still pick the original with mods though. Linear difficulty doesnt belong in AD&D. So on that fact alone; would not recommend.

Aged but still brilliant classic RPG. Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition and the expansion has plenty of tweaks, widescreen support, higher resolution textures and improved spell animations to enhance experience for HD screens.

FYI, I bought this on Steam after buying it from Beamdog when it originally came out a few years ago, and I haven't played my Steam copy yet which is why my played hours are so low.

Baldur's Gate is a game that I have been playing since 1998. It's an incredible game. This is a solid update, plays well, no more loading screens, and incorporates many quality of life improvements that you previously needed mods for. There are new classes and kits to use, and now there is a brand new adventure in Siege of Dragonspear.

It's true that out of the box, the game looks different after the latest patch. However, the changes that Beamdog made, particularly the ones that change how the game looks, are customizable and can be turned on/off (like the sprite outlines and other UI changes ). It takes less than 2 minutes of checking off options in the gameplay menu to make it look like the original. As for bugs, the only ones I experienced were minor (e.g. a map marker with the wrong label).

I recently played through the OG campaign and Siege of Dragonspear, and I had a blast. The original campaign is still great, and most of the popular mods like the NPC project have stable versions that work with the EE version of the game. Be advised that the Steam version of the EE may cause you to jump through some hoops to get mods working.

As for Siege of Dragonspear, it was fun. The story bridges the gap between BG1 and BG2, and overall, it does a good job, particularly when you remember it is bookended by such great stories. Tonally, it has to walk a line between the colorful adventure of BG1 and the dark journey of BG2, and there are several attempts to show your character dealing with their heritage, their accomplishments, and the relationship they have with the public at large. There are some NPC and player responses that may make you think, 'My Bhaalspawn would never say this' or 'this character would not behave this way', However, there are some really great moments with many of your favorite series characters (canon party in particular) and you are sure to enjoy at least a couple of the new NPCs (I thought M'Khin and Schael were interesting, could not stand Glint, YMMV). There is banter between old and new characters, which can range from annoying to charming, but this is usually due to personal preference with NPCs.

There are plenty of quests and interesting locations, and even a few new gameplay concepts thrown in as well. I'm glad Beamdog took some risks with the gameplay as it provided some awesome moments, like being chased by a lich through it's lair while racing to destroy it's phylactery, or sneaking by a sleeping dragon, or exploring a ruined temple of Bhaal, or managing the titular siege, planning the attack with the coatition generals, and then leading the assault personally.

If you enjoy CRPGs like Divinity: Original Sin, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, or Pillars of Eternity, give this a game a shot. If you are a BG veteran looking to play again, give this a shot before going back to your CD copy.

When thinking of a game to play that relates to the mechanics of D&D 2nd Edition, and the lore of the Forgotten Realms, Baldurs Gate comes to one's mind first most of the time. This game offers a wonderful RPG experience to anyone new and old veterans, and despite the amount of negative reviews over bug issues, I still consider it to be very playable. I've just bought it recently and played through the whole story, and I've never met any annoying bugs at all. (Except for one where Minsc wouldn't listen to my commands for one time.) So to conclude this review, I'd say that Baldur's Gate EE is still a good buy for any D&D and RPG players out there.

If you want to play with 3 or more of your friends, don't get it. Won't let them all load in. Tried with 5 and two or three would aways disconnect right after we finished creating our characters.

What happened? Only bought this on steam to play with a friend. I have the original hard copy which looks 100 times better than this pos. "Enhanced"? Thought that would mean it would be better than the original. Not even close. Looks like crap, plays like crap, that is if you can even play it. Constant crashes, freezes and just a plain buggy mess. What a crime it is what they have done to this great game. Beamdog is it? I would sugest avoiding anything these butchers work on like the plauge. You should be ashamed of yourselves for what you have done to such a work of art which was this game. What a crying shame. Thinking of buying this hot mess? Don't. Go buy Pillars of Eternity. Anything but this mess.

I really wish i could recommend this game, I do LOVE Baldur's Gates but i would recommend the original over the "Enhanced Edition" for the following reasons:

- UI changes made the UI very VERY glitchy.
- The game will suddenly crash every now and then.

I would like to add that i did beat the Enhanced Edition twice, both single and multiplayer and i noticed that the UI and crash problems happen mostly in multiplayer, the single player was somewhat "bearable" to play through, but you are paying for both modes thus i recommend getting the original and modding it to work in BG2's engine with HD resolution support.
