I feel horrible saying this, but all of the other reviews couldn't be more correct. You're going to hear a lot of the same stuff from me compared to all of the other reviews.

Firefall used to be one of the best games I had ever played

It had levels
It had loot
It accommodated so many play styles
It had so many different paths
It even had a full-blown story with side missions
Best of all, this was all free

Then, update 1.6 hit. Like a truck.

Everything that I knew, everything that I had learned, it was all useless.

They added these weird, more advanced levels
They completely reworked every single frame (class) in the game, so everything played differently
They temporarily removed, then reworked the crafting system
They compeltely changed the leveling system, so that you had to stick with a class all the way to half level, so once you chose, you were stuck with it

I can't express how disappointed I am from this change, and all of the other Firefall vets/Pre-1.6'ers know what I mean
It was perfect
Emphasis on 'was'
If you're considering this game now, I'm sorry to say that you're too late

RIP Firefall, it was fun while it lasted

Normally i don't write reviews for games, even for those that I love tremendously like Ori and the Blind Forest.

But this game sucked thru a rip in space time continuum with bugs and expectation betrayal. I played the game when it was Beta and it was definitely better than this sorry state it tries to call itself a game.

Avoid this game, at least until the devs decided to put up less f*ckery and fix everything.

I played it, I had fun, sunk hours into it day after day. got good at it too. my friend and I just wanted to relive the days from a year ago

we read the reviews...
we read them all...

we wanted it to not be true...
it can't be true......

We log in and find that my biotech is gone, that the level system "changed" and all i have left is my recluse; my friend lost his enginer since he did not level to a new frame, he lost it all. we are given each a new frame to "replace" the one lost, both only level 20

we get ingame and are greeted with a bunch of mail from Red5 giving us "armor crates" and "module crates". confused we open them and get some weapons that fit our levels with some cosmetics / skins on them. i head into the inventory to find i now need to equip armour looking things, thankfully given to me by one of the crates.

I notice all my resources gone
i notice all my modules gone save for the few i just got from a crate
i see my abilities gone

Stripped of all I worked for, I sit defeated. my weaons are ♥♥♥♥ now, my frame is ♥♥♥♥ now. Im ♥♥♥♥ in battle. All Im left with a few hundred thousand usless currency to make up what I lost apparently.

So here I am, me and my friend. Rich but screwed over. This was a horrible change over a year. barely anything carried over and we are left with nothing to do except run around, shoot sh*t, level up, and die.

TL:DR: Friend and I lost everything we worked for and the game was watered down leaving nothing to do.

A total of 6 years and Red 5 couldn't make a game to save themselves. 4 years of beta, even after firing Mark Kern, who was the major problem for the first few years, they couldn't set the game on the right path. The9 had enough of their ♥♥♥♥ and disbanded the company, and now the game is pretty much dead without support. If you're looking for a similar game, look into Defiance and Project Genom, just not this.

I have a folder on my computer with screenshots of the game where I'm playing with friends or even random people. It's called "In memory of Firefall" because it was once a good game, unlike now.

I used to play this game back when it was still listed as BETA and I loved how it all worked. Key word here "LOVED". As much as I am open to changes within games I agree with those who had been around before 1.6, I don't much like this change to the game. I used to recomend the game to many but now... That's not going to happen again any time soon unless I see improvment. Sorry to all new players coming here but you missed out on when it was good.

This game used to be the best game, period. Now returning after half a year or so, I found out that the devs have destroyed this game. They removed 75% or more of the game and are not longer replying on forums / social media since March.

Parts of the map are broken, missions don't work, character system is changed (removed some characters), crafting is gone, instances are gone, most of the dynamic events are gone or broken, skills have been removed ( a lot ).

The community is pretty much no longer there, as I've seen maybe 50 player max online at a time. They are all waiting for Red 5 to bring back pre 1.6.

Come on Red 5, use that bloody version control and fix this game! Or if that's to hard, at least post a message, somewhere!

IMHO this game is ABANDONED!

(over 500 hours in this game.. shame..)

I have played FireFall since just before open beta started and while i have enjoyed some of the newer features sadly with the amount of bugs and other features they have added despite the majority of players protests this game is in it's final death thro's. R.I.P. FireFall I shall always remember you as you were in early beta before you were corrupted by the melding,

well i've been with firefall since beta... and i adapted through some of the changes but then it just kept getting worse. its like the devs were taken over by evil aliens and the aliens wanted to ruin the entertainment provided by playing firefall. cause they deffinetly are not the devs i remember. you know thumping actualy meant something b4 this game changed not its really usless. if your looking to play this game think again. there is a reason the last updates killed the game. not that the players couldn't adapt. its just not as fun anymore.

If your looking for an experience player who went through the whole story mode and beat the game. here I am! Lets talk about the game and what it used to be. Firefall used to be a game where you and a squad of your firend or people you met along the way would explore the vast world and fight side by side until the end. Getting wonderous loot and special bounties were collected and were largely rewarded, upon be finished. The game was great through alpha and beta, it was a one of a kind game, giving us the only good game in the world that was free and had no game changing elements put into the real currency market. Firefall's market was like no other I have experienced, it was a living stock market judged solely on the players.

The world price of an item could change from 100 credits to just under 37 credits in just one minute if someone wanted it to. Sometimes that did happen, and the world felt so alive with thousands of players on ech server making it almost impossible to run into someone not wanting to team up with you. Players actively traded and made group agreements through the Faction system they had and still have today. Players made the cities feel like real cities interacting with the enviroment, making large scale wars against eachother in battle arenas or entire 30 man units agianst an armada of chosen endlessly spawning in the shadows.

Players would make parties for each other when special events came up, For me New years was that day, 3,500 people showed up on the server to celebrate, some had their whole family playing, some were just getting on for the first time looking for friends. It was an amazing time to play the game. Soon they limited the size of the servers to reduce lag, understandable, but soon after this reduced it even more and more and more over time. Soon only 5 people could be on a server at a time. They decrease the spawn rate on monsters, made events more controlled and less loot worhty, made the market automatically reset every day, players started dropping from the game, akmost a thousand a day until only about 150 a day were online a day. When I was playing in the good days of the game, the highest it got for players, was around 30,000 or more in one day. The highest a week later was 20,000 soon it was 600 now it's around 250.

Players lost interest extensively a the 1.6 update came about. anyone who has played it knows what im talking about. 1.6 was the supposed best update to the game. we were all excited until the news of what it was, was leaked. they were changing the way upgrades worked, they were removing 32 items needed for crafting. They were removing crafting all together, and they also removed most people's progress in the game. Me personally, I lost all 6 characters I had, All around levels 25-37. I sent in a report of the problem but never got a response, all I got in return were 16 cases of equipment and a forced character change. I didn't even get to choose my new character. I was forced to be sniper. I decided to deal with it and play out the game as a sniper. Just to see if it was all that bad. at about level 15 sniper is OP. now in my sake sniper is OP after level 5, I recived a gun that could deal 2500 damage and instakill anything no mater where I hit it. At level 32 now, and I have a gun that can do around 5500 damage.

I can one hit kill players by hiting them anywhere I feel like. I can kill the end game boss in three hits and can't die because of my healing. It gets boring when you can't die by anything in the game and can kill everything. So I bought something for $5 a skin. though I might as well make mysel look a little more interesting if im going to join someone's squad. guess what, I never recived the skin. contacted customer support and they said they don't offer refunds. They basically told me "Sorry yo can't have your money even though you didn't get what you paid for! Bye forever!" and never got a response since. If you really want to play it, make sure you have at least 5 friends to play with. it makes the game fun with friends. Don't spend money ever, because you have a chance of just being robbed. In all honesty don't play the game at all.

The origonal developers have stopped developing it for about a year now. the first director that was fired from directing Firefall is now making a new game called Ember. You can look it up if you like. This new game is supposed to be what Firefall was aimed to be. with the inteanded actors that were removed from Firefall. As of reasearching the forum site they made, right now they are making concept art and taking in suggestions on what they should do for the game.
