III.

So, to get to the laboratory you have to:
- fast travel to the main hangar
- exit your rig
- get the nearest elevator, point it to the laboratory
- run along the hallway, reach the living quarters then go to the faaaarthest back
- get into another elevator
- again, run along the hallway, then descend with yet ANOTHER elevator
- run again, and enter the decontamination chamber
- wait nervously inside
- FINALLY, enter the laboratory and find that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Kovac at the end of the laboratory....................for the 1st half of the game

On the 2nd half of the game, that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ EVEN GO FURTHER inside

- from the 1st place you found him, enter YET ANOTHER decontamination chamber
- wait for that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ scanner to scan you with a pace slower than my grandma's walking
- enter the 2nd laboratory
- run again along the hallway, and finally found him near the console, manically scanning a dead Akrid
- talk to him to get sarcastic remarks for finishing his stupid errands

My fastest time to reach the 2nd laboratory is 1 minute and 53 seconds. And yes, I installed my game in my NVME SSD (cool huh?)

And yes, the travel back time to the hangar is more or less the same

So basically you're going to spend at least 4 minutes going back and forth, times how many errands you want to gladly run for him, just to hear his lovely sarcasm

10/10 would play this run-to-the-laboratory simulator again

To be honest: It's trash. I got the game for like 1$ with DLCs, but. The first action is just shoot them. Then a 29 fps short-movie about poop, then repeat it again and again.
There's 60 fps, when it's action time or when you can't skip it.
Overall, there's more movie than play time

This game can get very repetitive and the rig battles take a lot of the enjoyment out of the gameplay. Completing missions often involves following guided points to a location, completing the objective, and then walking all the way back to base for the next mission. Returning back can take as much as 10-15 minutes sometimes. Getting fast travel at base helps this some, but does not completely deal with this problem. Combat is farily repetitive and enemies are rarely unique in form or attacks. Once a boss encounter occurs you often fight the same boss 2-4 times in a row to complete the objective. Rig battles consist of your character moving around in a mech without any guns. You claw, punch and drill enemies to kill them. The problem lies in the slowness of the mech unit with its attacks. Often times an enemy can get in 2 or 3 attacks before you can effectively get in a single blow. These battles often consist of QTE (quick time events) to beat the enemy which means you can't just pummel the enemy into submission despite having the tools to do so; it requires a certain repeatable pattern for each enemy type. I often found it easier to get out of the mech and fight on foot. I got this game for $0.25 as part of a bundle, but I wouldn't recommend it because it is too repetitive to get enjoyment out of.

REVIEW :
I haven't play the previous games, so I review it as a stand alone game rather than part of a franchise. I have mixed feeling about this game. The first half of the campaign is great, I really feel like I'm a rookie employee in an exteme condition planet stumbling upon a dark secret. But the second half is mediocre at best. The plot and storytelling is mediocre. Graphic quality is comparable to other 2013 A-list games while the game play is standard third-person shooter.

Overall it's still enjoyable experience. Only one thing annoyed me, there is no manual saves, only checkpoints. The checkpoints are far between and there is no option to skip in-game cutscenes. So everytime I died, I have to watch the same cutscene over and over again.

By the way, this game has great music soundtrack that really fit the game atmosphere. Setting the giant mecha on top of a mountain and just watching the sky while listening to the music is a breeze. Video-output the game to the projector and audio-output the music to the hi-fi sound system... and I'm lost in the planet ;)

CONCLUSION :
Recommended on sale price.

Naja... viel verschenktes Potenzial.

Einfache Bosskämpfe mit unterdurchschnittlicher Shootermechanik
Story relativ belanglos geht aber noch einigermaßen klar.
Setting ist interessant und man verbringt einige Zeit in einem coolen Mech.
Einige Elemente erinnern an Dead Space jedoch schlechter umgesetzt.

Im Ganzen wars nur "nett" aber im Vergleich zu anderen Spiel Titeln sollte man die Finger davon lassen. Es ist in gewisser Weise ein gutes Spiel doch im Vergleich zur Konkurrenz extrem schwach.

Intersting game, with a somewhat intersting story.

It gives off a Borderlands/Fallout feeling at some times.
You get to drive a big construction mech with Gurren Langan GIGA DORILU.
It's a 3rd person fps shooter game, so the combat against meelee aliens is intersting.
You can climb hills roll jump over objects, it has mobility.
Multiplayer is kind of dead, so you should buy it for the single player only.
Don't buy your hunting riffle.

For a game dated back in 2013, -Hey that's pretty good.

If you aren't expecting this game to be a clone of 1 or 2 then you'll probably enjoy this game. The controls may take a bit to used to, but so far I'm enjoying it. The mixed reviews here are quite misleading. Imagine if Diablo 3 were on steam, you'd see the exact same complaints here when that released, that it's not like the first two. Those who haven't played the first two won't really care.

My only gripe so far are the controls. They did take a bit to get used to because the aiming feels floaty (console-ish), and the binds for the mech suit were clearly an afterthought. The story is interesting and it's a fun ride so far as well. I wouldn't recommend it at full price (currently $25), but maybe $15 at most.

This game is proof that a story doesn't have to be original to be well-executed. The overall plot structure is "evil corporation wants you to help them suck out a planet's lifeblood", which we've all seen before. But Lost Planet 3 distinguishes itself with characters who are anything but stock, written and voice-acted with skill and flair. Throw in some gorgeous environment design and some halfway-original gameplay and you've got a game worth playing. Plus you get to stomp around in a giant robot that actually feels utilitarian instead of being gratuitously anime. It's not a mecha, it's a utility rig!

LP3 has it's own charm, which apart from some of it's flaws (such as the control scheme) make the game an interesting choice. Especially so since the frozen wastelands and the constant blizzards remind me of Dead Space 3, a game which sadly can't be played through Steam. They are both 3rd person shooters with open level design, though the extensive use of robots makes Lost Planet 3 a better game. It is playable and enjoyable, at least from the single-player perspective. The MP segment doesn't bother me at all since I rarely indulge into it. If you can overlook it's somewhat generic storyline and several bugs, LP3 is a great game when bought on offer and remains my favorite from the Lost Planet series.

<--Don't listen to the negative reviews-->

I was very apprehensive about it at first due to the negative reviews, however this game was very fun. Good story (kind of run of the mill, but tried-and-true and enjoyable nonetheless), excellent voice acting, very fun shooting/control mechanics (you even get a grappling hook like Batman!) and very fun combat. Plus, the collection quests added to the game for me.

I absolutely feel it was worth what I had paid for it when it was on sale some time ago and it still is worth it now.

Disclaimer: I got this game from HumbleBundle for about $0.25.

Lost Planet 3 is a fun third person shooter with solid gameplay and a great atmosphere. The plot isn't anything to write home about, but is still decent enough to move you along from begining to end.
This game isn't without its flaws though. You'll spend most of the game with no HUD, no minimap and no health indicator. The game is pretty linear and leaves little to no room for exploration. And there are way too many QTE sections.
Personally these inconviences didnt bother me. Having no HUD only meant that I could enjoy the beatiful and atmospheric settings of Lost Planet 3.

I recommend you pick up and try this game if it's on sale for $10 or less.

Strengths
-Somewhat atmospheric
-Tolerable characters
-Gunplay is solid
Weaknesses
-Poor visual feedback for the effectiveness of your attacks
-Has no identity
-Weapon upgrades are uninspired (from what I played)
-Poorly implemented psuedo-open-world elements
-Excessive contextual actions (for the sake of a "cinematic experience") ruin the flow of gameplay

A depressingly mediocre game.
Instead of being about the over-the-top arcadey shooter giant monster action that the series is known for (and was cranked to 11 in LP2), Lost Planet 3 is instead an uninspired, "character-driven", "shoulder-hugging" TPS that feels like a bootleg version of Dead Space in more ways than one.

Gunplay is surprisingly decent. But the way the single-player campaign is formatted hurts it a great deal. You spend a lot of time trundling from point A to point B (either in your giant, slow - but still faster than on foot- robot, or through a myriad of bland contextual actions in caves), then pressing a button. Maybe shooting a handful of things along the way.
If it had instead been structured as stand-alone missions with non-stop action a-la Lost Planet 2, I might've been able to stomach more of this game. But the crappy open-world elements are just too clunky and uninteresting to hold my attention.

The fact that this game bears the Lost Planet name personally disgusts me. Literally every link it has to the franchise could be replaced with an original equivalent and the game would suffer nothing for it.
The Akrid could've just been generic aliens.
Thermal Energy could've just been a generic resource; it doesn't even function in the same way as it does in the previous games.
NEVEC could've been replaced with a generic corporation.

People looking to get into the Lost Planet franchise, stay away. Play Lost Planet 1 if you're looking for an atmospheric experience, or Lost Planet 2 if you're looking for an over-the-top shooter.
Existing Lost Planet fans, stay away from this game unless you wish to experience for yourself the bullet that killed the franchise you loved.
