About This Game

The Stanley Parable is a first person exploration game. You will play as Stanley, and you will not play as Stanley. You will follow a story, you will not follow a story. You will have a choice, you will have no choice. The game will end, the game will never end. Contradiction follows contradiction, the rules of how games should work are broken, then broken again. This world was not made for you to understand.

But as you explore, slowly, meaning begins to arise, the paradoxes might start to make sense, perhaps you are powerful after all. The game is not here to fight you; it is inviting you to dance.

Based on the award-winning 2011 Source mod of the same name, The Stanley Parable returns with new content, new ideas, a fresh coat of visual paint, and the stunning voicework of Kevan Brighting. For a more complete and in-depth understanding of what The Stanley Parable is, please try out the free demo.

The Stanley Parable is a first-person game for which I am not sure I can name a genre. You play as Stanley, an employee who is used to mindlessly pushing buttons all day, after everyone at his workplace has suddenly disappeared. As you explore the newly vacant office you can hear a bossy narrator telling your story from the background. The game only takes between 5-20 minutes to complete, but has many different branches/endings, and is designed to be played many times. It took me around 3.5 hours to feel like I had gotten the full experience out of the game. There is no combat and almost no button pressing; you just walk places.

Pros:
+Hilarious narration.
+Surprisingly addictive while it lasts.
+Lots of funny endings.

Cons:
-Could be a little longer.

I found this game to be really outstanding. It was incredibly entertaining to play. There's not much to write in a review, since from a mechanics perspective the game is incredibly simplistic. But I found it to be quite excellent and I recommend it.

Stanley read some reviews. He felt weird, after hearing a voice in his head describing what he was doing. Still, Stanley kept reading it. Wonderful, he thought. And, after having to decide if the review he was reading was helpful or not, he chose "Yes". After that, Stanley pressed the button labeled "Funny".

The Stanley Parable has become one of my favourite games, and I honestly can't fully explain why...

The concept is refreshing, and brings back memories of those "choose your own adventure" books. I LOVE the narrator, he's funny, witty, cunning, and even sympathetic at times, and is honestly one of the best parts of the game.

Even though I've seen the majority of the endings, I always find myself coming back just to play them again, some of them are pretty thought provoking. And of course, the fourth wall breaking is A+

I couldn't recommend this game enough, it's worth the buy, and I implore you to play it.

After every restart of the game, once I thought that the game wouldn't surprise me, it did. It did it so well that the smile on my face couldn't go away

This is the first game I remember when wondering if videogames are an Art. It plucked at my heartstrings and make me laugh like no other game has. It is truly an experience everyone needs to try.

Good story. The less you know about the game when you start, the better.

There once was a man named Stanley,

Who people considered so manly.

But the truth must be told,

He was not very old,

And was quite particularly gangly.

What Stanley liked most was buttons.

He pushed them like some kind of glutton.

He did it all day

In a meaningful way,

But his brain had long ceased to function.

Which is why he is in this parable,

And lives an existence quite terrible.

And if you are not strong,

And keep playing along,

You too will become quite unbearable (x2).

It's worth a few dollars, you'll get a laugh out of it, but the $15 regular price on here is ridiculously overpriced for the time you'll spend in game.

A walking simulator done right. A game that's extremely aware of itself and the player, and uses its meta narrative in clever, inventive and enjoyable ways, unlike 90% of indie trash. Humor, horror, drama - it does it all and does it well. Has surprising amounts of replayability.

"This is the story of a man named Stanley. Stanley worked for a company in a big building where he was employee number 427...

Get comfortable, the endings are different but the intro will always be the same."

You play as Stanley and follow or derail a not really great story. The story is nonlinear as you listen to or disregard The Narrator.

I highly recommend this game but I really don't but The Narrator is holding me at gunpoint and I would suggest buying it but really don't because The Narrator will be after you too.

Have fun!

Okay, I wrote a good review, check for yourself!

Dude, I've done everything you've asked me to do! Can you please put the gun down?

Please! I have family and friends that I need to get back to! I promise I won't tell anyone about this!

One of the few games to truly make me laugh out loud; the way the Narrator responds to your actions (or lack thereof) is just genius!
Whilst the game may be short, it is eminently replayable to discover all the different routes and endings.
Thoroughly recommended!
