A very unique & challenging puzzle game. this game is worth picking up when it is on sale. But I wouldn't recommend spending money on it full price as it does eventually get a bit repetitive. I was shocked & amazed how they were able to keep adding new goo blobs to interact with to help change the experience up & add new content on later lv.

Man, this brings me back to when I first got my Wii. I played it off that crappy Nintendo shop, played it for a couple hours, got frustrated and uninstalled it. Don't judge me though, I was only, like, seven yars old. Now I'm finally finished with this game. It was frustrating but it I don't regret it at all. 2DBoy is awesome, I love these devs and the world that they've created. So, if you haven't played this game, or Little Inferno, I highly recommend its graphics, music, story and lore, even if there isn't much, and the puzzles, of course!

This is obviously mostly personal preference considering how many people love this game but I just absolutely hate physics-based "puzzle" games on principle and World of Goo is a classic example of the genre. Just the fact they're called puzzle games irks me as, to me, puzzle games are precise things that require rigorous, systematic thinking to arrive at a concrete solution, not juggling a bunch of blobs that are constantly moving around and liable to bring your carefully crafted but inherently unstable structure crashing down at any moment. That's not puzzling, it's just frustrating.

FYI: I know my game time is little, but trust me, I've played this baby on the wii al the way

This is a fantastic construction game. It has creative levels, catchy soundtracks, a quite intriguing story told by ''your friend, the sign writer'', good humor, and just overall a very good game to pick up, build a few towers/bridges with Goos and just chill out.

It does get tougher the more you progress, but the levels never felt cheap or unfair to me

I've owned this for years and never got round to playing it. This is a fun little, casual game that is laptop friendly.
I should have looked at this game ages ago :) Recommended !!

Wobbly-tower construction is fun in concept and the goos are cute, but this game is thinly developed and missing a number of critical features that would make it recommendable. The lack of video and sound control is an obvious inconvenience, but the flaws in gameplay are more worrisome. It's far too easy to accidentally place or drop a goo and far too hard to grab goos of a specific color in more complex puzzles. Fixing these shortcomings with keyboard commands (eg. CTRL+MOUSE1 = "release goo without using it") would have been pretty easy, but sadly it never happened. Even adding a command to skip cutscenes and poems would be greatly beneficial.

Purchased as part of a bundle at some point in the distant past, excellent graphics and music, originally played on tablet/phone. Very surreal game play, relaxing, a bit of a problem getting the resolution to work at 1080p - 4k, however, would buy again for full retail for the puzzles.

World of Goo is a masterpiece of design. Everything about this physics-based puzzler fills you with that grand feeling you used to have, back when you were 10 years old, playing in the yard. That feeling of Adventure.
The game starts very simply. Here are a bunch of cute quirky goo balls, and there’s a pipe up above them. They make little squeals and pops when you click and drag them. As you experiment with the balls, you learn how to build a tower out of them, yearning to reach that pipe. Where does it go? That’s a secret. Soon you’re building bridges, and balancing on ropes. You come across species of goo that behave slightly differently, and let you interact with and build crazy new goo-based architecture, all in an effort to reach a pipe that’s just over there. For instance, green goo balls can be removed from the structure and replaced, letting your structure climb up trees or snake through tight spaces. But the difficulty never gets overwhelming. The learning curve here is expertly controlled, to where each level builds on the last. You are never forced to learn something in a totally new situation, not without a little gentle guidance from the invisible Sign Painter. The game seems to say “OK, you understand the basic dynamics here, but what if we do this?” The game adds a simple wrinkle you can immediately understand. And you will eagerly jump in trying to solve it.
That eagerness will be due in no small part to the music. You can get the whole soundtrack for free right here. The combination of whimsy and epic just fills you with that sense of Adventure and, honestly, it will just make you happy.
The visuals here are top notch. The cartoony, Dr. Seussical aesthetic serves the game’s atmosphere well, and each level feels very distinct. One early level makes the entire foreground, goo balls and all, completely black, while the background is a brilliant fiery sunset. Truly a work of art. Everything is clear and responsive, and behaves as expected. One minor complaint is that when there are many goo balls in one area, it is difficult to select exactly the one you want. This is a minor problem in the later levels, when you have 3 or 4 different types of balls and you’re on a time limit to finish your move.
The game is divided into 4 distinct chapters, each focusing on one season of the goo balls’ journey. There is plenty to do here, but if you think the game is too short then each level has an OCD criteria (Obsessive Completion Distinction) which challenges you to solve it with a certain number of rescued goos, or within a set time or moves limit. Going after the OCD achievements was a really good challenge! They force you to take your skills and knowledge of the physics systems to their absolute limit.
World of Goo was one of the first mega-hit indie games when it came out in 2008, and its success laid the path to the golden age of gaming we are enjoying today. When my daughter is old enough to start playing mouse-and-keyboard games, this will be one of her first. I recommend this game to anyone, for it is an important piece of gaming history, and it’s an amazingly fun Adventure.

I don't think this is a bad game. In fact, after writing this I'm going to keep playing, and I intend to finish it. It's a fun physics-type puzzle game.

The reason I don't recommend it is because it's a truly minimal-effort port of a mobile game. I'll do a point-by-point of the issues I've had with it that are problems with the port.

CONTROLS: The controls were clearly made for a touch screen, which becomes an issue when you're trying to click a specific goo ball but your cursor continuously gets stuck on ones you don't want.

NO OPTIONS: This game lacks an options menu of any kind, which is insane and in my mind one of the biggest oversights. You can't change the resolution which is locked very low. You can't change mouse sensitivity. You can't change graphics settings. You can't even change the game volume.

DUAL MONITOR: The game simply will not lock to a single monitor. You have to drag to the screen edges to pan the camera, and the mouse will just move outside of the game and onto your second monitor, so you have to consiously bring your mouse near the edge to pan. This is a major annoyance.

MENU GLITCHES: When landing on the main menu I'm sometimes stuck in a bugged pink screen with lots of stuff swirling around. It kind of looks like it's a super zoomed in version of the background, but you can't click on anything and you have to force quit the game to get out. This has happened several times and is a minor annoyance.

WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDED: This game needed at least a few keyboard controls to help with gameplay issues. WASD/directional button panning would have been a no brainer, and would have made the dual monitor issues no problem for me. Removing the rewind bugs entirely and making rewind a hotkey would have made much more sense (seriously, I hate those things. I click them more accidentally when trying to click goo, and they're bugged often causing certain goo types to come unhooked from whatever they were bound to. They caused some hair-pulling frusteration on levels with moving objects, where clicking one usually meant restarting the entire level.)

Overall, I like the game, but the issues are glaring and something I'm constantly struggling against. It feels like the lowest amount of effort possible was put into porting it just to have a game on steam and grab a share of the PC market, and I can't recommend throwing sales at that business model.

Edit: I wonder why this got votebombed. Is pointing out actual problems with the game being unfairly critical? Seems like people just downvoting negative reviews because "stop not liking what I like!"

World of Goo is an absolute classic by my measure. It shines very brightly, and is a must-play for any indie game enthusiast (I have many many hours in this game, just not on Steam).

Essentially, the goal is to build architecturally-sound structures to bridge gaps. Its like a wild version of Bridge Simulator. The building mechanics are really fun, but arguably the best part of this game is the artwork and definately the storyline. While the story is quite abstract, but absolutely emotionally engaging.

The only negative I can really mention is that the game can feel a bit dated, at this point. I loaded it up this year and all the charm is still there, but the graphics and controls have not aged all that well. Regardless, its a classic.

I originally played this on the Nintendo wii and I must say it is so much easier using a mouse. This of course makes the game more enjoyable. This is challenging and fun and I highly recommend it. Long story short really fun puzzle game. Reminded me of making bridges in school using tooth picks and marshmallows.

World of Goo ,也就是粘粘世界,最早听说应该是WiiWare版本(wii下载版游戏),当然由于我的WII是日版,所以没有过多的注意到这个游戏(日版グーの惑星直到2009年4月才发售),PC版与WiiWARE版发布时间一样,正好发布在我刚刚上大学的时候,应该也是美梦破碎的时候,同学死党各奔东西,就在大家都在大学生活中摸爬滚打的时候,附近邻居家的死党和我在大学后久别重逢的第一个寒假的末尾,坐在电脑前无意中看到了粘粘世界,于是两人一起试着闯关,然而寒假就这么过去了,游戏的时间戛然而止,第二天又是各奔东西的时候了。
至今听到Brave Adventurers(大桥颂歌)这段音乐时依然泪流满面,虽然工作之后大家又回到了做邻居的时代,但是互相还是有些疏远了,感觉有些说不出来的惆怅。
以上扯远了.....
游戏很简单,就是拖拽黏黏豆(粘豆包)利用它们构成框架后就会变硬的特性来把过关要求个数的黏黏豆输送到吸管口(或者一些特殊关卡的特殊要求),看似很简单,但是实际上每张图都是绞尽脑汁,因为每一个黏黏豆除了少数种类之外,使用后都是不可逆的,所以既要玩家用最少的黏黏豆搭出最稳定的结构,以获取最多的黏黏豆进入吸管或过关处,又要保证时间,有些时候不仅考验的是玩家的搭建能力,一些机关甚至考验的是玩家的反应能力——一瞬间也许就是成功利用惯性跳过一个陷阱,而迟疑一秒,可能就会被陷阱把好不容易搭建好的架构砸个稀巴烂,满盘皆输。
当然除了黑色的普通黏黏豆之外还有绿色的重复利用黏黏豆,水滴状的水滴型黏黏豆,没有粘性的红色黏黏豆,有浮力的气球豆.....等等各种各样的黏黏豆的搭配,来越过各种陷阱,地形。

所有超过过关需求的黏黏豆都会被送入黏黏豆公司,这是一个纯沙盒,目的就是搭建最高的黏黏豆结构,并与全世界玩家一决高下(但不知为何最近排行榜服务器连不上了,不知道是不是开发者关掉了),一样是利用最少的豆搭出最高最稳定的架构,这个模式,又开创了沙盒装的玩法,同样,为了获取更多可在此处利用的黏黏豆,就需要绞尽脑汁,减少冒险关卡里面黏黏豆的损失。
最后也是最具挑战性的是OCD玩法,即完美过关,包括过关时间、过关黏黏豆数量等等的苛刻要求,当完成OCD条件之后,这个关卡上就会插上旗帜,全关卡完美更是对强迫症玩家的一个挑战。

对于我来说,这个游戏是我友情的象征,但是作为一款游戏,简单的操作下却带有各个层次均有无限可能的玩法,难怪摘得了2008年独立游戏节的头筹,也是一款推荐的休闲级别的解谜游戏。

游戏本身是一款解谜游戏,但是其中的标志牌先生却总是会有一些似懂非懂的深奥话语,玩味这些这些话语之后,有时候却能得到恍然大悟般的哲理:

这个游戏,从初中就开始玩了。
恩,当时是玩的盗版。
一开始,就被游戏里诡异的背景音乐吓到,也不能说是吓到啦,应该算是吸引吧。
每到一个关卡,游戏里的告示牌都会有一段奇怪的隐喻。
反正我是看不懂啦。
作者可能是想表达更多的东西吧。
我每次看见小球被戳破什么的就超级⁄(⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄)⁄心疼。
还有一个有趣的地方就是,你每一关剩下的小球都会在一个黑黑的废弃空地上等待着你。
你还可以建造更多有趣的东西。
但是我从来都不建,因为我觉得让他们就那么跳来跳去的,挺好玩。
这些就是我自己的一些看法啦,感兴趣的话可以玩玩看。XD

In the end I really don't understand why I couldn't stop helping these little goo balls... I mean it's just goo... or is it not? Maybe it also was the soundtrack (the AMAZING soundtrack) and the overall style of the game.
I don't know, find it out for yourselves, more than worth it!

这游戏的牛逼程度其实堪比植物大战僵尸。我对其的评价也堪比魔幻三杰。当初在我毕业前半年,我同学推荐给我,当时没怎么重视。后来买了之后,才发现这游戏真的很棒。画面不用说,这种漫画式的画面风格在游戏里看不到任何衔接瑕疵,音乐也是棒的没话说,尤其是秋天那一章,响起的雄壮音乐,让人感到粘粘球即使是牺牲自己,也在所不辞的要连成管道把自己的同伴送出去,实现自己的愿望。这是个很令人感动的画面。到游戏最后,你会以为游戏就这样结束了。非也,其实故事才刚刚开始。总找不到团队感的人,去玩粘粘世界吧,找到属于自己的位置,找回那份属于自己的感动。有民间汉化。

搞怪的风格,一个要通关容易,拿全成就很难的游戏,难度分配适合,休闲也行挑战也行,游戏里面的语言也幽默,比如提示板先生就是一个很萌的形象,里面的解谜元素很有趣,要利用黏黏球来搭梯子达到管道,有很多种不同的黏黏球,有各自特殊的用法,关卡长度也不长,所以不会让人有玩久了太长了就很腻的感觉,适合休闲。

不错的游戏,难度分配恰当,除了过关还有更难的OCD标准,游戏里面的语言也幽默,通关之后还可以去goofans上下载更多有趣的新关。
